Unfortunately the younger generations rarely care for DVD's, VHS tapes and sooner or later Blu-rays and streaming... if it's not new, they won't watch it.... since it looks bad and feels strange (like, a superhero without a smartphone?)... so for kids like 10 and up.... all there is and ever will be is what the 2000+ gave us... they won't touch 90s, 80s or 70s....

There were bad movies in each decade, but the thing is that movie industry had to actually be industrious while creating movies. You had to make props, have an experienced director who knew how to frame and shoot, work with limited budget and make the best of it, have actors and make-up and music score do most of the work of creating and atmosphere and be creative, resourceful and smart.... nowadays, it's all "we can fix it in post" or "we can just cgi the crap out of it", so there aren't any limitations that make people be creative.... back when they made aliens - they had to work litteral movie magic without special effects, like using mirrors to double to number of props because they couldn't afford to build more.... in the final battle with the alien queen - there is not one single cgi or special effect - it's all done through clever camera work and lighting, to hide wires and people moving the prop offscreen. Nowadays, you could just punch it in the computer - it doesn't matter where the camera is placed, what the lighting is - since we can 360 degree the whole scene from top to bottom, and we can alter the time of day, level of lights etc. This access to infinite cgi effects makes people lazy and indecisive - I don't know, let's shoot this for now like this, and let's try both ways in post to see which shot looks better... but it doesn't matter, it's all gonna look like crap.
One thing about our young people is i think plentiful streaming is making them a little soft. I ran into a kid on one of the main subreddits a few days ago who was named "Neo" but had never seen The Matrix and couldn't watch it because it "wasn't on netflix anymore" and i'm thinking - jesus kid when i was your age we lived on pirating. None of us had any money. haha
I think we do need to take it on ourselves to spread the older stuff to our young people. Especially before they are propagandised by the new stuff.

That's not true. There are tons of young people who love old shows like Friends and old movies like Shawshank, Forrest Gump, Gladiator, Fight Club, etc.

I'm a big fan of Aziz Ansari for this reason. He speaks out on this topic from his platform. I'm not surprised they pulled rape/abuse/whatever allegations on him. Exactly. I had a very egalitarian viewpoint when I was younger - fair for everyone made perfect sense. The problem is that many of these characters are part of a visual medium and people have a pre-conceived notion as to what these characters should look like. People were upset when Optimus Prime didn't look like his old, 80's self. People were upset that Daniel Craig did not have dark hair like James Bond is supposed to. People were upset that Daenerys Targaryen did not have violet eyes. For the same reason, few people want a black, female James Bond or a black Ariel, just as they wouldn't want a white Blade.

Bond fan here: Just to clarify what's going on, they're not replacing Daniel Craig, or indeed 'James Bond' with this actress. For those unfamiliar with the last movie it ends with Bond and a female actress driving off into the sunset in retirement. The idea is that in his absence, Lynch's character gets the 007 codename and is then tasked with getting him back for another mission.
To clarify. She is not a James Bond replacement. She is a (probably) temporary 007. There is nothing to support or deny that she will reprise her role as 007 in Bond 26. Craig is still playing either THE or ONE OF THE leading characters.
Side note: the Bond franchise has generally been good about not bending to societal pressures and I'll be damned if they start now.

They have a chance to make this good. It doesn't need to be a "rah rah girl power" movie just because it has a female co-lead. If your character is a strong charismatic badass, you don't need that. Game of Thrones and Westworld both did a pretty good job of showing that it's possible to write for woman actors without getting too tropey or preachy most of the time.

They are propped up by Marvel films for action nerds, fantasy porn about hot/rich guys for women to masturbate to, generic action movies for retired boomers to watch endlessly until death, cheap rom-coms for the dating industry and even cheaper horror films for easy money. However Marvel will start to loose interest now it's main storyline is complete and everything starts getting diluted into multiverses and timetravel shenanigans that require a huge increase in power of badguy to top the last. Apart from origin films there won't be many grounded Marvel films left.

It's because we weren't critical enough that monkey-faced Daniel Craig happened in the first place. I loved Pierce Brosnan, but Die Another Day was so fucking bad that everybody was like "Is there even a point in making another movie and continuing this franchise anymore?" which led to him getting recast. Standards were so low after that the producers actually got away with marketing Daniel Craig as "This Bond is blond" and we just shrugged and said "OK". If we had been more critical, Quantum Of Solace would have ended that dumbass's career like it should have, instead we just allowed morale to sink to the point where they are trying to pull this shit now. They haven't recast Bond yet. As part of the story of the next movie, Bond gets replaced as 007 as he retired; they replace him with this black girl. As he inevitably comes out of retirement, Craig as Bond reassumes 007.
I still disagree with this as it's obviously there to test the water for a potential actual recast of the character as some black woman minority.

As a big Bond fan who appreciated the mean nasty cold killer Craig portrayed after Poncy Bond Brosnan (he was good in Goldeneye to be fair), this is all part of the necessary crash and burn of Hollywood.
The money men have to get the message eventually that men drive the box office when it comes to action movies and that SJW virtue signalling and jamming strong female characters unnecessarily into main roles leads to box office disaster.

She will be 007. She will not be Bond. Daniel Craig is reprising his role and will he coming out of retirement to assist. I still won’t watch it, but there is a destination.
Captain Marvel has been a female for quite some time. I had no issues with her introduction into the MCU aside from the fact I was disappointed in Brie Larsons performance.
Thor has had several incarnations of non-Asguardians wielding the hammer. Several years ago it was even Jane Foster who wielded the hammer and took on the mantel of Thor during his all-sleep/recovery. Chris Helms can’t be Thor forever and when they replace him in the MCU, if the story line yields a female replacement, I won’t scream if it’s done right, or would you prefer the frog or horse versions?
I’ve been a marvel fan for over 30 years and quite frankly, the comics have pulled off female characters just fine. Can the movies, well, that is something to be seen, and I don’t have high hopes unless Joss Whedon, JJ Abrahms, or the Russo brothers are writing the story.
Wonder Woman was an ok movie. Gal did a great job in the role, but the movie ruined itself in the final act with the reveal of Aries. I’d say she did a better job than Linda Carter. I don’t agree that she was attracted to Steve though. In the tv/film versions they pushed that but the older comics it was more of her being fascinated by a man which was new to her. Not love, but the desire to figure out what men were. Granted, her character has changed a lot over the years, but I was always disappointed when they shoehorn in some non needed romantic storyline.

I've come to realize the reason Hollywood is making all these female in traditionally male franchises is because if they tried coming up with new franchise with just the women no one would go watch it. So by taking a known franchise people will relate it to past films in the series and assume it's good = WRONG!!! So "equality" would dictate that we could swap out Princess Leia with Prince Kurt in kind. Quibbling aside, it's interesting to note that there are not many female major characters. Many of the most widely known female characters either play support roles or are far overshadowed by the likes of Superman, Batman, Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Homer Simpson, Jerry Seinfeld, Terminator, Harry Potter, etc. I'm not saying this is necessarily fair or truly based on merit, but arbitrarily swapping out roles made famous by men with women is not the answer (Ghostbusters, Oceans, and now Bond).

Idris Alba said Luther was his James Bond, the problem is nobody is watching the “new” movies so they insist on recreating the same old shit until they absolutely run them into the ground. If they can’t make original movies then they have to update the remakes to spice things up.
In the eyes of the studio changing characters does everything they want, they think it brings a wider audience, creates publicity, wins support from Hollywood, empowers people and shows how progressive they are. The thing they don’t fuckin realize is that they shouldn’t be remaking so much shit in the first place!

James Bond was never a true-to-reality story. Yet you had a feeling always that it was pretty close. Melissa McCarthy played the role in a pure comedy and it worked because the entire story was comedy. However there is no way you have a Jane Bond that kicks ass like James Bond and have the audience react to it as a serious take. That's a problem for the entire Bond series. Once it goes from semi-believable to full on comedy it loses a lot of what made it interesting.
Anyway they did this with Predator as well. The people who are directing this stuff and publishing it have no idea how to make a story people care about anymore. All they see is shock and minimum dollar value.

Can't wait for the movie where Hitler is played by a black mentally challenged Jew.
But the one of most known fictional character is misrepresented, white Jesus.
Not against a female lead in an action movie, as long as the writing, acting etc is good(which counts for whatever gender the lead role has), but taking on a lore and at the whim just changing gender, race etc seems wrong and mostly a PR stunt to get some publicity.
Would much rather see a female agent as the main role with 007 in the movie as a nod to the fans, if more fanservice is needed put them together but not as a love/sex story but portray her as an independent entity.
