1. Accountability and responsibility – On a personal perspec, as a woman I abhor being viewed as weak/passive/suffering from false consciousness etc. This subreddit upholds (indeed insists) on woman as a strong and equal creature.
  2. Asking tough questions – the feminist subreddits, I find, stay away from the hard queries. The questions of accountability, the queries into womans perceived weakness and how to challenge and over come it.
  3. Gender Dynamic – 1960’s feminism purported a dynamic of equality between the genders, modern feminism (as is expressed on the fem subreddits) want more than equality. Also, as a mother of a son, the male relative aspect is completely disregarded.
  4. Patriarchy – this word is banded about with a belief that it is a relavant concept, we have had 50+ years of a feminist society in the western world, it is no longer the ‘rule of the father’ (although I do believe that we are living with the history of an andocentric society).
  5. Insular - Inability to challenge/interact with MRA stances and resorting to offensive language.

Now, you could argue that Im not a feminist (it has been queried often) and that Im an egalitarian person - but that is just semantics. I think feminism should return to its belief of woman as a strong creature , and not the victim as is often inferred on the fem subreddit. I think it should interact with the opposite gender ‘ideology’ (MRA). And I very strongly believe it should ask the hard questions in stead of shying away from them as it so often does.
