I occasionally wear thongs when wearing something where I don’t want my panty line to be visible. I don’t care if men don’t care about panty lines in whatever it is I’m wearing, I care.

I don’t get up in the morning, look at my undergarments and ask myself ‘ what feminine sexy panties should I wear today to attract men, who won’t see them anyway as it’s under my clothes?’

Also, when you wear thong you don’t feel it up your butt like you would with bunched up underwear. It’s not the same at all. Try it and see for yourself, then come back and report to the group.

Women wear thong underwear for all kinds of reasons. Looking sexy, avoiding pantylines, comfort, confidence, etc. Thongs are popular because they can work for any and all of those reasons. As such, thong underwear is an essential piece of a modern woman’s wardrobe.

Your theory falls apart because you mistakenly believe that thongs are uncomfortable. Wearing a thong feels nothing like having a wedgie. Wedgies are bunched up underwear in your buttcrack. With thongs there’s nothing to bunch. As long as it’s the right size, you don’t even notice the “floss” in your butt.

I rarely wear them, I usually just go commando in skintight stuff.

But if the skirt is short enough that it could ride up, then I wear a thong because showing cheeks is preferable to showing the whole package.

Uhhh woman here with experience in wearing g-strings. Some of them are so comfortable you don't feel them at all. No wedgie feeling, it almost feels like you're not wearing anything at all. That's a huge reason why so many women wear them. Avoiding panty lines absolutely is a reason women wear them too. I've personally never cared about panty lines myself, but I've had women point out my panty line which made it clear to me that a lot of women care about it lol.

Seems weird to comment on this when you presumably have never worn a thong ?

For what it may be worth, my company's dress code gives women a choice between thong-style panties and bikini-style; about 25% of women choose thongs.

For male employees, there's no underwear standard (since men aren't wearing dresses or skirts) but at company events where I've seen men changing, I've never seen any wearing thong style underwear.

In my experience, it's pretty unusual for women to openly admit that they are trying to dress sexy, even when it seems pretty obvious. For example, women's volleyball players who wear bikinis will say that it's cooler; or that it helps with sand, or something.

So yeah, I think that for the most part when women wear thongs it's to be sexy.

The only era in my life when I wore thongs was when I was saving money for a house deposit. Cheap thongs/G-string/similar scanty underpants are the cheapest solution to that particular societal expectation. I suspect they get to be so cheap because at the factory the people who plan out cutting plans make thongs out of a lot of the otherwise hard to use bits of fabric.

Former sex worker here, (I wore thong underwear on and off for years), I genuinely have no idea how other women find them comfortable.

The first time I tried on a thong I was just like "Oh, so it's basically a perma-wedgie..." and it never stopped feeling like that to me.

I've seen so many women with obvious thong panty-lines too, lol. Unless the underwear itself is made of seamless fabric (in which case, you can just buy regular panties like this), if you're wearing an outfit with material sheer enough to show a panty-line, a thong line will show through just the same.

It's hot af, but also possibly more obvious that they realise. :/

Oh god I'd rather die than wear a thong, it feels so disgusting and awful and imo it looks so stupid, but when other women wear that it's usually because they want to avoid panty lines. Just cause you're not concerned about them doesn't mean that the person in question doesn't notice it. I notice it sometimes because we wear tight trousers with light material where they can show, I just simply prefer panty lines over thongs, or sometimes girl-boxers help (but then you still get lines). I suppose though with frequent wearing a lot of girls get used to it

I have gone underwear shopping with my girlfriends and they literally have their own reasons for picking what they pick from comfort to simply "wanting to try it."

There is no one reason why women pick what they choose to wear and even when all women want to do is look sexy they all have different ideas about what sexy looks and feels like which is why their fashion sense is immense and a whole universe unto itself. 3,000 different styles, shapes, colors, fabrics and underwear! Jesus!

That's why I don't go clothes shopping with them if I can avoid it. 😋

lol I do only wear it to solely avoid panty lines, at least for the last 3 years I’ve been single. 7/10 if I have sexy undies on for a SO they aren’t thongs they’re cheekinis
