How about that : make the rapist pay for the child she chose to have by raping a child.

Wtf kind of world are we living in ?

[+]ParticularExact9234167 points 4 years ago [recovered] (18 children) | Copy Link

I don't like saying this but stuff like this makes you feel men and boys are always wrong even when we're right and haven't done anything.

This country and it's court system is so biased against mens rights now it's unbeatable.

[–]mr_j_12 63 points64 points65 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Have been told "i don't care for your evidence which proves you're innocent" by a feminist judge in Australia. Who in that year won an award from the queen to services to our legal system.

Thank you... I cannot find if Bettina Arndt in australia has mentioned this woman as Bettina sticks up for men... I found this also https://podloud.com/podcast/miranda-devine-live/bettina-arndt-s-frightening-brush-with-protesters

[–]gonewildman5 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Australia is a joke with its wokeness, they can brave deadly animals, environments, and play a more intense version of rugby, but choose to punish their men so they can be on the same page as other western countries

[–]neighborhood-karen 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

But Australia isn’t real….

[–]bluesydragon 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

was this recorded?

even if not there should be a record of it

BUT that statement itself should be enough to get removed?? since she's not even acting as a judge who needs to remain impartial

[–]mr_j_12 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

To be honest i dont know. I was last seen for the day though. Was just me the judge and the judges assistant in the chambers.

Australia's system is biased towards women something shocking and its common knowledge the way this judge acts.

This country

almost every country*

[–]DouglasWallace 21 points22 points23 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Yes, in the past decade or two I've been aware of similar cases not only in the USA but in Australia, Nigeria and Russia.

Rapists all around the world are making the victim pay for being a victim .. so long as the victim is male.

[–]spike4379 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Because we are taught men are disposable, we can be used in dangerous ways because we allow it to happen. Imagine the chaos if we just said "No, fuck you, I'm not working a dangerous job, wheres the equality? We want a 50/50 workforce split with women in this mine/ firehouse/ oilrig/ army"

Imagine that, imagine how fast feminist doctrine would backpeddle.

Suicide rates, nobody cares, when a rape victim is male, everybody laughs, when a guy comes out as gay he's seen as unclean, when a domestic abuse victim is male hes thought of as lesser than male.

Like c'mon this is fucked.

[–]DouglasWallace 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yes, it is fucked. But what you list as 'imagine if..' is already beginning to happen. It's not being consciously felt by the general public much yet (though the recent 'supply chain failures' are a sign, as could be the increasing average response times of emergency services).

But, please, stop saying 'nobody cares' because that is defeatist and a said enough to yourself and others becomes a self-fulfilling prophesy. You care, by the sounds of it, so do I. In caring, we have to find those who don't care and are in a position to make a change, and alter their attitude or remove them from power.

[–]spike4379 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You're right. It's just, sometimes it feels so hopeless you know?

I think a lot of us need a really good hug too.

[–]DouglasWallace 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, the hug thing I do understand. But the hopelessness thing may be because you aren't an activist yet?

There's a deal of difference between being 'red pilled' and being an MRA. Once you get stuck into the fight for rights, you tend to associate with more positive-minded people. It's frustrating as hell at times but invigorating and once you accept that no change happens overnight, it can be very fulfilling.

[–]Greg_W_Allan 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Can verify Australia. Have met somebody who went through it. Raped as a twelve year old the government was garnishing his youth allowance from the age of sixteen. He won custody of the child when nineteen and it still took another six years to get the culprit charged over the original rape.

[–]DouglasWallace 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Thanks for the ultimately successful story.

One problem I have with the way female rapists are treated is that if they are pregnant or have young children, they usually are not jailed at all for a crime that would see a man rightly put away for a long time. It's an actual incentive for a female rapist to get pregnant: her punishment will be negligible, and it won't be a financial cost to her because the victim will be made to pay for her crime.

I'm glad your contact is caring for his child, and that the rapist was eventually charged (and hopefully convicted, but of course with a pussy she has an almost automatic get-out-of-jail-free card).

[–]jadedlonewolf89 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Reminds me of that guy who proved to the judge that he was sterile and couldn’t possibly have fathered the child, judge decided that since the ruling had already been made he had to pay for the kid.

I’d rather eat a bullet.

[–]SpookeyClown 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's worse in France where paternity tests are illegal.

[–]ijustdontcare74 655 points656 points657 points 4 years ago (27 children) | Copy Link

Disgusting....not only did he suffer a rape he's now punished again for the next 12+ yrs to pay his rapist. No matter if it's not the child's fault, this is immoral and a blantent example of misandry and how men are seen by the state as disposal assets, good only for cash and as cannon fodder.

[–]ExMuzzy 219 points220 points221 points 4 years ago (18 children) | Copy Link

It will justified since it’s for “best interest of the child”. It’s not just paying his rapist but slaving away for her since he’s got to get that money from somewhere.

[–]az226 128 points129 points130 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The irony and atrocity is, what about him, he was just a child until very recently. It’s most definitely not the best for the child for him.

[–]MercMcNasty 30 points31 points32 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The second you turn 18, get fucked, failure.

[+]GNU_Yorker120 points 4 years ago [recovered] (6 children) | Copy Link

For the years since this happened people swarm to say "it's for the child" completely refusing to acknowledge that a part of this decision is giving the child to a child-rapist.

[+]toss112273 points 4 years ago [recovered] (4 children) | Copy Link

decision is giving the child to a child-rapist.

This is the core problem. This should not happen. That baby should be placed into the system for adoption (unless the parents of the guy wanted to be guardian until their son was 18).

That would be equality. A raped woman can keep the baby, so a raped man can keep the baby. A male that raped doesn't get parental rights, a woman that raped shouldn't get parental rights.

If the baby was adopted that would end parental rights and responsibilities. Let the guy decide, it is his DNA/child.

[–]samantha802 12 points13 points14 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I agree with this except in many states male rapists do have parental rights. It is, sadly, quite common.

[–]Book_lover7 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yep you're 100% correct

[–]Greg_W_Allan 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

In order to ensure child support can be collected from them.

[–]chintan22 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I suppose it is to balance out that women could potentially claim that a child was a product of rape to alienate fathers

[–]Laszu 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And also it's a blatant lie. Of The child-support money, barely 1/10 is for The child. I know, as I was one.

[–]TracyMorganFreeman 62 points63 points64 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Pretty sure it's in the best interests of the child to not be raised by someone who raped an underage person.

[–]dus_istrue 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

yes of course, wouldn't everyone wanna be raised by a child rapist

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

funny this isn't it... best interest of the child'... but do they monitor it later on??? no matter what gender the parent is...

[–]xcheshirecatxx 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The best interest of the child could be that my neighbor gives me money. It's still not my neighbor's responsibility

[–]HeligKo 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The legal escape clause is that you pay the child, not the mother, but the other is responsible for that money as the legal guardian of the child.

[–]Mythandros 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

A victim should never have to pay their rapist.

The judge that came to this ruling should be disbarred and should have to be the one paying the child support as that's "what's best for the child."

Absolutely disgusting.

[+][deleted] 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

[permanently deleted]

[–]SporkTornado 17 points18 points19 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The interests of the child are thrown out the window the first second they conflict with what the mother wants.

[–]TheRabbitTunnel 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Isnt it funny how people stop saying "best interest of the child" when talking about abortion? Seems like its just used an excuse to get men to pay.

[–]quantainium_pasta 37 points38 points39 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's not "just" the next 12 years.

The state stole his money straight from his account for the previous 6 years of "missing" child support and hospital costs of her giving birth.

Basically, the state is ignoring the fact that he was just a 13-14 year old kid when he was raped. They might as well have sent him a bill at 14 years old when the kid was born, and told him that he was lucky that he doesn't have to pay anything until he was 18, at which point they'd take him for all he's worth and more.

[–]Qwesterly 37 points38 points39 points 4 years ago* (5 children) | Copy Link

good only for cash and as cannon fodder.

Just a reminder to all the American men age 18-26 out there to keep up with your address changes and any change of name with the Selective Service System (i.e. "the draft"). You can do so here.

If you are an American man age 18-26 and have never registered for the Selective Service System, you can do so here. According to their site, failure to register with Selective Service is a violation of the Military Selective Service Act, which is a felony. Conviction for such a violation may result in imprisonment for up to five years and/or a fine of not more than $250,000. Per their site, the Selective Service System will accept your registration up to age 26.

Once you register, you will receive a "Selective Service Number". In time of war, the US Government may randomly select your Selective Service Number. At that time, you will be forcibly removed from your job, your house/apartment and your family and inducted into the US Army, trained to fight with weapons such as your body, knives and guns, and sent to the battlefield to defend America against dangerous armed enemies who will seek to kill you unless you can kill them first. You will remain on the battlefield and in the Army until your government decides to release you, or until you are killed or wounded so grievously that you are medically discharged. Thank you for your service.

If you are an American female age 18-26, just keep posting n00dz to your OF and enjoy your freedom and liberty, brought to you by American men.

[–]tenchineuro 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

According to the mail they send, they can't keep track of whether you've registered or not. But it's just a felony, right? And you forgot to mention the fine (25K I think).

If you are an American female age 18-26,

If you are a trans-woman, you still have to register.

[–]Qwesterly 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

"Just" a felony? Murder is a felony. There is no crime more felonious than a felony.

They can definitely keep track of whether you've registered. Registration is required for anyone who wants a federal job such as an executive branch job or work with the postal service. Also anyone who wants to use WIA, The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act. At any time, the government may choose to audit the roles and make the appropriate arrests. My personal feeling is that this is more likely in time of war, but I can't and don't speak for the government.

I did mention the fine very explicitly... up to $250,000. It's in my second paragraph above. Sorry... I tend to write long posts.

If you are a trans-woman, you still have to register.

The Selective Service System website addresses this here.

Forgot to add an /s.

But the fact remains, I did register my son myself to make sure he was not penalized, than less than a year later we received a letter from SS demanding that he register, they can't fucking tell who registered and who did not and I am really pissed about this.

or work with the postal service.

Well, they're not hiring white men here anyway, so a great many won't be affected by this.

I did mention the fine very explicitly... up to $250,000.

My bad, missed it. And I got the number wrong too.

You can blame all the obesed people in America for that. When most girls are fat the skinny ones are a rarity. Thus their value gets ballooned.

If youve ever visit a country with less than 5% overweight rate you'd notice most people would have "bangable" bodies. Thus it's not treated like a rarity unlike America where it is.

Wouldn't surprise me if he had to shut up, as part of a settlement.

[–]Clemicus 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There doesn't seem to be. I did find an Instagram account but I'm unsure if it's the same person. One is in Arizona and the other California

Similar ears. No tattoo (in the above article you can see that tattoo but when I checked a different article with a photo of him dressed as a Dr it should be on display but it can't be seen)

[–]LateralThinker13 162 points163 points164 points 4 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

I stand by my previous opinion in these cases. Sue the mother to terminate her rights to the child and get sole custody on the basis that she is a rapist and a pedophile. Then put the child up for adoption.

Savage

[+]SharkSpider52 points 4 years ago [recovered] (3 children) | Copy Link

Is it? Adoption should already be the default choice for someone who's single and about to give birth, but can't afford the cost of raising a child.

[–]CameTheR0n 19 points20 points21 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Oh don't get me wrong bro. I mean the good kind of savage. The GOOD KIND!

[–]LateralThinker13 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You'll never ethically draw a line for when someone is not allowed to procreate on a financial basis because too many factors go into how much a child costs. Easier way:

If you're on welfare, I believe you should be reversibly medically sterilized until you are off welfare, but that's just me. If you can't support yourself (and that is the only time you should be eligible for welfare), you by definition can't support a child. And that should go for ANY state support, including WIC, food stamps, student loans, ANYTHING the state pays for.

Fix a lot of our problems in a generation.

[–]JAernie 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Good idea, who's to say that she won't abuse her own child either.

[–]terisayles 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

OMG this. This is, imho the only viable option.

[–]Million-Suns 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

The problem is that it's said in the article that he cannot afford a lawyer.

[–]DouglasWallace 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

He probably won't have to. There are lawyers who will look into taking that kind of case on pro-bono. I would think that lawyers in the MRM are onto it already, but I will write to make sure they know of the case.

Edit: Oh, it's an old case. I won't write be following it up.

[–]Million-Suns 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah it's a old case. At the time I commented I did not realize that either.

[–]hehimCA 44 points45 points46 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is disgusting but thanks for posting.

[–]tragedyfish 45 points46 points47 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

People who are convicted of statutory rape should never get custody of their children.

[–]Terror-Error 41 points42 points43 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Nick Olivas became a father at 14, a fact he wouldn't learn for eight years.

The two went their separate ways. Olivas, now 24 and living in Phoenix, graduated from high school, went to college and became a medical assistant. Then two years ago, the state served him with papers demanding child support. That's how he found out he had a then-6-year-old daughter.

He said he panicked, ignored the legal documents and never got the required paternity test.

So if he was raped at 14, and the child is 6 when he's 22, it's quite possible the child is not his. Should have done that paternity test.

[–]emperor42 18 points19 points20 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yeah, the entire article is weird, it says he was a father at 14, wich is clearly not the case due to dates but either it happened when he was 15 and the child was born when he was 16 or the child simply isn't his wich would be easily provable by doing the math.

[–]TacoMedic 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, the only way I see it working is if he was almost 15 at conception, the baby came out later than normal*, and he was a young 22-year-old when the papers came. Also, the papers took months to arrive, because of state government beauracracy.

*Is that even a thing anymore? Don't we induce women once the date hits and the child hasn't come?

Makes you wonder why men and boys are here at all now.

ALL MEN BAD WHEN YOU'RE RIGHT OR WRONG.

When it comes to being sexually assaulted or sexually harassed by a woman, the court is always lenient but not on men, it's no big deal when it happens to us.

the part that has me confused is that the article says he didn’t press charges? but can a 14 year old even decide to press charges?? where were the parents in all this?? also you need to press charges to validate statutory rate in the states???? what a fricking mess

[–]CarpeAeonem 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

No, it is the decision of the DA or solicitor to press charges on any crime, not the decision of the victim. Prosecution will often take the victim's wishes into account for smaller crimes because if the victim doesn't care then it saves them a lot of work. But I very very rarely hear this happen for rapes. The fact that the DAs office would refuse to press charges on a statutory rape case is ridiculous

In that kind of case the victim should automatically wins full custody once he's an adult. No child support to pay and no child raised by a rapist who will devour all the child support money to find their gucci bag.

This whole situation is fucked up and like in paternity fraud cases, show that men are always sacrificed and never considered as victims.

[–]DouglasWallace 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Nothing new, sadly. Nor is it confined to the USA.

Legally, what's happening is that the victim is pay for the upkeep of the child. In effect, of course, that can't help but benefit the rapist.

A slight hope for him is that he might well be able to sue her for the money he has to pay, as stupid as that sounds. There was a case where that succeeded a few years back (in the USA, I think but I don't recall it that well) and the woman was made to pay it all back over a period of time. Let us hope he can do that and gets the legal help to get justice of a kind, though nothing can pay back for his trauma.

[–]alwaysboopthesnoot -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Rape and incest victims who are female usually have to share custody or permit visitation to the children they have or are forced to have, with their rapists/relatives. Even if they were minors when the rape/incest occurred.

Sounds like this disgusting practice cuts both ways.

I guess every man and boy will need body cameras now just so we can have evidence when something happens to us or so we can prove we didn't commit a crime on a day to day basis.

Sorry folks, if this is the future then i want to go back 30 years or more and live, I can understand why all our mental health is suffering with courts that pass judgments like this.

[–]TacoMedic 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The body cameras wouldn't have helped in this case. One way or another, the moment she decided to be a predator, she was going to be legally permitted to open his wallet.

[–]Dwaynedibley24601 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

This is insane... especially the back support to when he was 15. AND back support should be calculated based on his earnings up to a max of 25% for one child. Since a 15-year-olds income is legally zero... he should owe 25% of that from when he was a kid. Move forward to 16 or 17 and he was probably making minimum wage part-time.. so he would owe 25% of whatever he was raking in.. probably less than 1000 bucks a year. Child support can be greatly reduced for those enrolled full time in college in program that has the potential to greatly increase earning capacity and since like most college students his income was probably - 500 a month he would owe 25% of that. NOW once he graduated college and PA school and started working.. he would owe 25% o whatever he was making.. any way those number do not add up to what the article says he owes. This guy is a PA he can afford a lawyer.

[–]terisayles 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Uh, no. There's a HUGE difference between the pay of a Medical Assistant and a Physician's Assistant. A PA has about 6 years of college/uni. An MA has the equivalent of an Associates degree. This guy may qualify for legal aid.

[–]Dwaynedibley24601 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

hopefully... my point was that for many of the child years he was basically, legally destitute and may only owe say... $5 dollars a month... I have seen it that low... he surely does not owe all they say he does.

[–]terisayles 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Sure, but insisting that he can afford a lawyer is subjective. He's not a PA (Physicians Assistant). He's an MA (Medical Assistant). There's a dramatic difference in pay. I've seen pay for MA's as low as $11/hr. You can barely live off that, and only if living with roomates/family to help curb overhead costs. This poor dude is screwed any and every way you look at it. The mother should have been behind bars and on a sex offender registry and certainly not have custodial rights, much less visitation. Granting her public assistance is also a crime (which you are barred from recieving for felons). Ludicrous that the state pursued child support from a rape victim to his offender... Ugh. I'm just so disgusted.

[–]HeligKo 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Tying public assistance to child support collections has been a huge evil perpetrated by the state. It knocks poor man down, and there are more than a few men who will never see a child that they didn't know about before the state showed up to take their money, because no one is going to give them visitation after not seeing the child for the first decade of their life.

[–]snoozeflu 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is disgusting. Is the mother registered as a sex offender? I'm curious how the state sees no issue with letting the child live with a convicted rapist. Usually the state would remove a child from living in such conditions.

[–]Reddituser155 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm not the best at math so if I'm wrong let me know. My math dose not add up in this story. He was 14 when raped. 24 when he found out he had a 6 year old daughter. Gestation for a child is 9 months assuming it's 1 year that would make the child 9 years old not 6 years old. 24-14-1=9 Could have been a typo with the age in the article though.

This doesnt excuse having a victim to pay all of it.

I know that people who say this arent for a child, but are for mens suffering. How?

Because the money for this child could have been get from public funding. And if you think that we having to pay from our taxes is unfair cause "we arent guilty for this child", then why do you support paying ALL OF THIS by a man who also isnt guilty?

Most places have something on the books like "ignorance of the law is no defense" so even if a person doesn't know the law, they can't excuse their behaviour by saying so......

Imagine what would happen if people came to visit Canada or USA or France and they did something illegal and then said, "Well, I didn't know it was illegal to have sex with a 14 year old!"

For reference, I'm Canadian. Until 2008, the age of consent for vaginal sex in Canada was 14. It was increased to 16 in 2008/9.

[+][deleted] -10 points-9 points-8 points 4 years ago* (12 children) | Copy Link

"ignorance of the law is no defense"

I was amazed learning this when in secondary school doing a business course... even then.. I was like: huh! if you have never studied any law, how the hell would you know??

Madness!!!

I like, not, the way it is 'vaginal sex'.. so they separate body parts 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ Does this mean that the 'vagina' is of age to have sex but we forget that psychologically the mind isn't or ?????

Quite truthfully I think 16 is still to young. Where did I read ...mmm... if you aren't working and paying your own rent you are not old enough to ?? dangerous saying this but ....!!!!

[–]CdnPoster 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Vaginal (14 before, 16 now) and anal (18) sex have different ages of consent.

No idea why. Possibly because people disagree with gay sex? But that seems odd because a man could have anal sex with a woman, right?

And, I agree with you about the age of consent being too low. Perhaps 18 would be better.....? Don't know.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

u/CdnPoster thanks for agreeing with me if only to not feel like I'm the only one advocating 18...

I don't understand the difference in the ages for Vaginal and Anal sex! I have not researched it now... but I read some years ago there was a difference and I just don't get it... to me penetration is penetration no matter which 'entrance'.

The thing I struggle with is the ages. For instance: I'm a male and 'fooled around' with my male cousin at 11 or 12 years of age - mutual masturbation. Looking back he was much more mmm knowledgeable that I was - I cannot think of a different word right now. I am gay and he is married with children. Later on I fooled around with a school friend and I felt more knowledgeable than him!!

Hence I find it hard to place 'consent' on an age and therefore go to 18 years of age... Obviously my previous comment was not liked in general as it was voted down - rather than people discuss all this... As for 'gay sex' - do you mean 'anal'??... back to the P word again = Penetration!!!

So difficult and I wonder 'who' changed all the ages to 16??

Oscar Wilde seemed alright while he was only involved with 'boys' and it was masturbation but once it was more out in the open about him have sex with other males then things heated up. In the book I read Oscar was a scapegoat for Politicians who indulged in male to male sex with 'teenagers' and then Anal sex. From what I remember Oscar started to get into trouble when he was open about having anal sex!! It is complicated. What I do remember reading was that in Oscars day.. 1800s end of - 'boys' having sex with men was tolerated but one it wa known about anal it became a different thing... so yes to the comment about 'leftover sodomy laws'... that was not allowed an Oscar was silly and spoke about it...but politicians were having anal with other men...

I'm sorry but I like discussing this for some reason... I find it interesting to contemplate how the laws came about ! I believe more and more that citizens should be voting for theses laws and not left up to Leaders who have their own interests at heart.

I found this site: https://www.ageofconsent.net/world but have no idea how reliable it is.

And for those who voted my other comment down. I am not disputing that the guy mentioned in this post was raped... I was disputing that there are so many things that are taken for general knowledge and assumed; but did the 20 year old women know the age of consent! I for one do not think he should be paying but he might like to 'if' it is his child. He could take her to court now for 'rape'... that would certainly stir things up.

Humans are not like Birds who get kicked out of the nest and mostly know how to fly instantly... we need time to learn how society works...

As a 'boy-teenage' I didn't even know about anal for instance but a friend of mine as a teenager did. He admit that as a 13/14 year old he was fucking other boys at school and later 'married men'... so he has a totally different experience to me...

[–]CdnPoster 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Part of it goes back to the middle ages when the life expectancy was lower. People were getting married at like 12 or something and had several kids before they were 20.

They needed a lot of kids because not all of them would survive and that was the labour force for society - farming especially, soldiers, what industry there was back then was done by hand - mining for coal or sewing carpets, etc.

Then, I think they possibly outlawed sex between men because it didn't result in children.

The bible didn't help with the whole "men shall not lie with men" thing.

It doesn't make a lot of logical sense though because women with women doesn't make kids either and that seems more acceptable historically.....?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Nice piece of history you give here. You are right 'two women being together doesn't just make a child either but more acceptable'...

I'm not up with it at all, but it is sort of like men wanting to marry women so that the children can carry on the name and also ownership of land.

I am not going to say I agree with it but it 'was history' and might have made sense 'then' but it is 2021 now.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yes a man could have anal sex with a woman. I worked with a young guy whose culture demanded he marry a virgin... so he had anal with his girlfriend!!!!

Things have changed and society hasn't kept up with all the possibilities ....

[–]CdnPoster 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

?

How is that "remaining a virgin"? He still penetrated his girlfriend, just anally and not vaginally so......??

Doesn't the act of penetration mean he's not a virgin?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Of course!!

and she also... but Virginity it has 'traditionally' been allocated to the 'vagina'... !!!!

It is also in the realm, I'm a gay man, of saying 'homosexuals are not real men'.. anything can be justified...

This indicates how far behind some of our actual Laws are and Social cultural understandings are slow to change!!

[–]TacoMedic 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

if you have never studied any law, how the hell would you know??

Tbf, that's really only used in cases where you're expected to learn it. If you're an adult hooking up with a teen, you're expected to find out what the legal age of consent is. If you break some super obscure law and a prosecutor actually decides to take it to court without giving you a warning for some reason, most judges will let you off with a warning.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Ok. thank you and it is great that the law is so understanding.

but what I'm reading here on reddit it seems the law is not so understanding when it comes to males!

What I had in mind was Caveat emptor https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caveat_emptor and maybe the wrong thing in this discussion but either way... how can someone be aware if they do not know? That is my real point. I had sex education at school and admittedly a long time ago and I cannot remember the Teacher mentioning anything about age of consent but given that it was over 40 years ago, maybe I've forgotten.

but I get your point. In my hunting of fellow gay men to have sex with, I've stayed away from anyone who I think is suspect of being close to a legal age. It is easy to think people are older than actually are... but not everyone thinks or has this in their mind...

[–]WikiSummarizerBot 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Caveat emptor

Caveat emptor (; from caveat, "may he beware", a subjunctive form of cavēre, "to beware" + ēmptor, "buyer") is Latin for "Let the buyer beware". It has become a proverb in English. Generally, caveat emptor is the contract law principle that controls the sale of real property after the date of closing, but may also apply to sales of other goods. The phrase caveat emptor and its use as a disclaimer of warranties arise from the fact that buyers typically have less information than the seller about the good or service they are purchasing.

If not (and this is one of the only times I wouldn’t blame a man for not having contact) then absolutely no chance he should pay

"It was a shock," he said. "I was living my life and enjoying being young. To find out you have a 6-year-old? It's unexplainable. It freaked me out."

He said he panicked, ignored the legal documents and never got the required paternity test. The state eventually tracked him down.

Olivas said he owes about $15,000 in back child support and medical bills going back to the child's birth, plus 10 percent interest. The state seized money from his bank account and is garnisheeing his wages at $380 a month."
