“For too long, the incel has been used as a punchline because we’ve no other method for dealing with them."

What do you mean? Just use the same method that you use to deal with women's problems. You know, the "empathy" method.

[–]InvoluntaryExpat 107 points108 points109 points 4 years ago (55 children) | Copy Link

But they can't do that. Men don't deserve sympathy.... Because we aren't women. And yet they are oppressed.

[+]Majestic_Fartsniffer 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You can spot angry bots by their desire to get one side fighting the other at every turn.

The good ol' "suffering olympics"...

Never gets old.

If we want help, of any kind, we must first learn how to help, or we won't be equip to recognize help when its available or offered.

Have a good one!

[–]InvoluntaryExpat 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You are so so right it hurts.

[+]Commercial-Ad-8159 -91 points-90 points-89 points 4 years ago (36 children) | Copy Link

Why would anyone empathise with incels. All they’ve been known to be are mean, hateful, angry guys.

[–]Fearless-File-3625 77 points78 points79 points 4 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Because we empathise with certain other mean, hateful, angry group of people.

[+]Morundar -31 points-30 points-29 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Erm. First of all, most of the sad saps here probably have no idea what empathy or sympathy is.

Secondly, lumping all feminists as those annoying or insane SJWs kinda shows your own shitty incel-ness?

[–]BoredRedhead24 18 points19 points20 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

First off, trying to insult the people here isn't very empathetic of you.

Secondly, it isn't about owning the libs or fighting SJW's. It's about, among other things, addressing double standards in society.

Feminist groups can say phrases such as "Kill all men" with relative impunity AND garner support. When a guy does something similar, is he helped? Is he given any support, of any kind? More often than not, the answer is the dead opposite. Rather than be helped, he is often isolated. Isolation and hate are a very dangerous combination. It's a problem, with an obvious solution, that nobody wants to talk about.

A little compassion can go a very long way.

[–]PM_ME_YOUR_MUSIC4FB 20 points21 points22 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

[–]WeissReui 21 points22 points23 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]InvoluntaryExpat 56 points57 points58 points 4 years ago (18 children) | Copy Link

My neighbor is an incel due to a horrible facial scar. Nice guy, salt of the earth but has never had a date or gotten laid. Not a hateful person, doesn't hate women, tried to be the best member of his churches volunteer groups. All I can say to critics is get to know a real one. It will enlighten you

[+]Morundar -73 points-72 points-71 points 4 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link

Then he's not an incel. At least not what that word has started to describe. Perhaps there should be a new word for people who aren't cunts but can't get laid.

Incel these days however is indeed meant for those who can't get laid and are horrible cunts as well.

[–]GnomeChompy 50 points51 points52 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Incel these days however is indeed meant for those who can't get laid and are horrible cunts as well.

TIL feminists are a type of incel

[+]Morundar -12 points-11 points-10 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Sigh. Talking to the people here is like, you know the saying, talking to a wall.

Which prolly is one of the reasons many people here are the way they are.

[–]GnomeChompy 12 points13 points14 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Sorry, is that supposed to be a comeback? Weak.

[–]orezoftheworld 11 points12 points13 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Cunts like you are not welcome here. You didn't came here to talk, but lecture and trash like you can't lecture anyone. Imagine how pitiful once life can be that the only entertainment she has, is to troll people who are dealing with issues. The real losers are people like you, get a life.

[–]GuaranteeUpstairs218 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Just a question, how do the people come off on here. As far as I’ve seen there’s lots of empathy in this sub.

[–]Dunkopa 14 points15 points16 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That is not what Incel means though? Just because feminists and certain groups use the word incel wrong, doesn't mean it actually means that. Incel means involuntarily celibate and that's all. You should try to educate people who is using it wrong instead of us, who is using it correctly.

[–]TitanicPat 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Oh, brilliant news!

Ignore what feminists claim is the definition of feminism,

Look to their observable behavior instead. Glad that's all consistently squared away.

[–]throwawayincelacc 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Incel these days however is indeed meant for those who can't get laid and are horrible cunts as well.

So you mean warping the term that people applied to themselves with a specific description, and turning it into an aimless insult directed at men?

So who are actually the horrible cunts?

It couldn't possibly be the feminists going around calling every man an incel /s

[–]ConnectConcern6 35 points36 points37 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

No, no it fucking doesn't. Incel means involuntary celibate so virgin but not by choice. We need a new word for insufferable cunts that can't get laid because they are insufferable cunts that isn't incel.

[+]Morundar -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Okay, sure. However you're gonna be fighting an uphill battle here since most people see "incel" as the latter.

[–]VivaIlSesso 16 points17 points18 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

… A woman using a part of her own body as an insult to men lol

[+]Morundar 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What!? Every damn reply I get in this sub is so damn vague.

What do you mean when you write words?

[–]VivaIlSesso 28 points29 points30 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yet you still wouldn’t fuck him because he’s “too nice”

[–]Morundar -5 points-4 points-3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

First of all, I wouldn't fuck any "him" since I'm straight.

Secondly, what!? You actually believe someone wouldn't have sex because the other person is "too nice"?

[–]VivaIlSesso 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

A lot of women lol

[+]Silentpoolman -18 points-17 points-16 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

And they're horrible cunts cause they can't get laid. Almost like there's a reason for their horrible cuntyness or something.

[+]Morundar 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well, yes, probably shitty parents + sometimes being on the spectrum

[–]yoitsericc 28 points29 points30 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

A couple of my friends are incels. They're actually pretty fun, friendly guys. They just have absolutely no idea how to get laid in the modern dating scene without getting Me Too'd or humiliated on social media.

[+]Commercial-Ad-81591 points 4 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

So you’re friends have a very prevalent fear of being sexual assailants... They’re better off being incels :)

[–]yoitsericc 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No idea what this comment even means but it sounds extremely uninformed and shitty.

[–]Actual-Chicken3624 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well, we could empathise with them before they turn mean, hateful and angry. It's not like they came out this way straight from their mother's womb

[–]Litany_of_depression 20 points21 points22 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Why are they mean and hateful? You really think that by pushing away and ostracising these people, you can get them to change?

If we cant as a society attempt to help them, and instead treat them as an enemy, then why pretend to be surprised when they treat us the same and lash out?

[–][deleted] 16 points17 points18 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They end up mean, hateful, angry guys because nobody empathizes with them.

[–]TheSoviet_Onion 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What would you empathise with poor people or black people?

[+]Morundar -39 points-38 points-37 points 4 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

What bullshit are you saying right now?

"Men don't deserve sympathy... Because we aren't women."

Obviously all people who indeed aren't assholes deserve sympathy. What you just wrote is basically just bitching about your personal issues. If you have been mistreated then consider that person a bastard, that's it. Not start whining about "men not getting any sympathy" - FFS then don't talk to the people who don't give you sympathy?!?!?!

[–]TextDependent6779 33 points34 points35 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

i like this video when it comes to men getting sympathy. its not just whining because we hang out with toxic people. its societal attitudes where women get more sympathy solely because of their gender.

yes, toxic people will play a part in that, but it doesn't eliminate the wider behaviour of society.

[+]Morundar -8 points-7 points-6 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Alright, granted. The public in general is indeed stupid. I have seen the other videos as well where if a girl hits a guy, it's funny, if a guy hits a girl, it's assault. Yeah, alright. In that sense the world has plenty of progressing to do.

I bet if you would speak to any person individually, then most of them would obviously agree that men deserve as much sympathy as women. However the mob mentality or simply the loudest dumbasses are the ones that lead the public.

[–]Fearless-File-3625 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Don't get fooled by their sweet talk, they don't give a shit. Anyone can say anything, doesn't mean that's how they will act.

[–]BCRE8TVE 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

I bet if you would speak to any person individually, then most of them would obviously agree that men deserve as much sympathy as women

They would. They would also promptly declare that it's someone else's problem to deal with, and do absolutely nothing to help when they're actually faced with that situation.

This is called hypocrisy, when people say one thing and then do the opposite. There's quite a lot of that coming from feminists with their attitudes towards men. There's one feminist for example, who wrote the definition of rape for the FBI and CDC, who didn't believe men being raped were hurt nearly as badly as women.

“Although consideration of male victims is within the scope of the legal statutes, it is important to restrict the term rape to instances where male victims were penetrated by offenders. It is inappropriate to consider as a rape victim a man who engages in unwanted sexual intercourse with a woman. p. 206”

I have spoken to many women online who have plainly told me that they don't believe men can be victims of sexism, and some have even said they don't think men can be raped.

It's not just the 'mob mentality', it's a wide-spread acceptance that it is ok to shame and mock men, to deride them and treat them as lesser than, but the same behaviour towards women is completely unacceptable. It's a disgusting double standard.

[–]InvoluntaryExpat 17 points18 points19 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

You didn't get the sarcasm flooding the statement

[+]Morundar -8 points-7 points-6 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Ah, nope. Been going through some shady communities with shady people. Including this one. So I'm more biased towards assuming negative right now.

[–]InvoluntaryExpat 11 points12 points13 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Everyone deserves sympathy. Don't get me wrong there are days I feel like you do. That's why I tried to keep it simmered civilly. I saw you were defending men and how my statement could be taken. For that I also apologize. We are all here together. I am a dv survivor and a former jailhouse male dv victim councelor

[–]Puzzleheaded-Heat174 35 points36 points37 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Men don't get sympathy on a societal level and you can't really deny it

● nobody seems to care that men make up 80% of suicides

● nobody seems to care that men make up 80% of the homeless population

● nobody seems to care about men getting fucked over in divorce the majority of the time

● nobody seems to care about male circumcision

● nobody seems to care about colon cancer

● nobody seems to care about men having there children taken away

● nobody seems to care about male domestic violence

● nobody seems to care about male sexual assult & rape

● nobody seems to care about only men being drafted for war

● nobody seems to care about women starting trends like kill all men & all men are trash

● nobody seems to care that men make up the vast majority of victims of crimes

● men who are victims of crimes are almost never reported on or get attention by the news

And if any of these statistics were reversed the suicide rate for example we would have a special month dedicated to that it would be insane the amount of money we would put into women's suicide month and not only that there would be a special colour for that particular month but because it's men who make up the majority of suicides we get nothing

[+]Morundar -3 points-2 points-1 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

WHAT!? WHAT!? Are you delusional? First of all there is a mental heakth month. Which is for all people. I have never in my life heard of a women's suicide month. If there is such a thing, then it must be a local endeavour. So how about instead of bitching you start celebrating a mens' suicide month!?

The rest of the shit you wrote is exactly that. Your subjective opinion. Laced with some lovely percentages also fresh from your anal sphincter.

Saying nobody cares is purely false cause, you know, a shitton of people care and work with the issue. Plus your statements are really useless in any argument as they are false to begin with. You know, the whole crying in the corner aspect of "nobody loves me".

There are plenty of programs and ways for men to get help. Just because you spend your time alone and sad doesn't mean they exist. Yes, I did get ad hominim quite quickly, but your statement really falls down soooo quickly.

[–]Puzzleheaded-Heat174 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

WHAT!? WHAT!? Are you delusional? First of all there is a mental heakth month. Which is for all people.

But nothing that's focusing on male suicide in particular and when the issue primary effects women (domestic violence for example) ever shelter in existence is focused on helping women plus I have heard a lot of stories of men reaching out for help and being turned away because they are men

I have never in my life heard of a women's suicide month. If there is such a thing, then it must be a local endeavour. So how about instead of bitching you start celebrating a mens' suicide month!?

You should really read what I said my point was that if the issue was primarily effecting women instead of men it would get a lot more attention and a lot more funding also I'm like 90% sure that men's suicide month doesn't exist and if it does exist I gaurentee it doesn't get nearly enough attention as something like breast cancer

The rest of the shit you wrote is exactly that. Your subjective opinion. Laced with some lovely percentages also fresh from your anal sphincter.

Except for all the statistics I used and the reactions of the public in these issues for example bolalharam (idk how to spell it)

Saying nobody cares is purely false cause, you know, a shitton of people care and work with the issue. Plus your statements are really useless in any argument as they are false to begin with. You know, the whole crying in the corner aspect of "nobody loves me".

These aren't "statements" they are statistics and if they're a lot of people then point to me in the mainstream where any men's issues are brought up and discussed you will rarely see it and if you do see it most of the time they blame men or demonise men for it also I wasn't talking about my issues I was talking about men's issues on a societal level

There are plenty of programs and ways for men to get help. Just because you spend your time alone and sad doesn't mean they exist. Yes, I did get ad hominim quite quickly, but your statement really falls down soooo quickly.

Again point to me where there is support for men do you mean the one male domestic abuse shelter in America vs the hundreds of thousands to womens and no mens shelters in my country? The lack of support for men's mental health? The lack of support for divorced men or the lack of laws that protect men in divorces? But I'm the one who is delusional? Get a grip

[–]Fearless-File-3625 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Do you realise that 90% of suicide funding is exclusively for women in Australia ?

[–]MGTOW_and_Bitcoin 22 points23 points24 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

He's pointing out a clearly sexist agenda that our media has picked up and that feminism promotes.

Promoting body positivity and telling everyone that these women should be seen as attractive wow putting down and demonizing men who do not meet women's high expectations is clearly hypocritical and not for nothing it's something that we see all the time with feminism

[–]yoitsericc 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

You have probably met an incel and have enjoyed their company. 1/3 of men age 30 and under are incels.

[+]Morundar 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

First of all, where did you pull that statistic out of? Secondly. No? The whole point of incel is that they're bitter and hateful shits. I don't chat with people like that.

[–]yoitsericc 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Here you go

And no, the whole point of being an incel is not being hateful. Literally men do not even know how or why they become incels many times.

That's why they call it involuntarily celibate - because you do certain things and then suddenly you're just not having sex ever - often times without even being aware of how or why.

[–]BrodieS11 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Empathy, sympathy and Men don't appear in the same sentence, ever. it does happen but shits rare... I'm by definition one, I'm 2 for 2 on cheaters who got it somewhere else and I've just said "f it", the problem is the one's who bitch and moan about it... be fukin normal and jack it like the rest of us ffs.

[–]dw87190 61 points62 points63 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's a feminist ego complex. Her ego demands that she label any man who's single and celibate, as being that way involuntarily because it would bruise said ego to admit/accept that a man doesn't want her

[–]63daddy 71 points72 points73 points 4 years ago* (9 children) | Copy Link

Incel stands for involuntarily celibate, referring to men who can’t find a woman to have sex with. This is driven by the fact society is hypergamous. Hypergamy means there will have to be men “at the bottom” that women don’t feel have enough to offer.

Incels have been the butt of jokes and hatred. I find it ironic that those who are recipients of hatred are labeled a hate group. Of course Southern Poverty Law is an agenda driven woke organization that labels any non woke group including the MRM a hate group. It’s like the KKK calling BLM a hate group.

Whenever anyone uses southern poverty law as proof of anything, I know an incredibly biased, agenda driven point is being made.

Any talk of incels should include the bias of hypergamy that creates the issue.

[–]CzechoslovakianJesus 27 points28 points29 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

"Incel" just means any man who isn't a blubbering sycophant worshipping the ground women walk on. I've heard people say with a straight face that you can have a partner or spouse and still be an incel because "it's a mindset not a state."

[–]wanthonio31 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yeah and the people who say that are full of shit too. I know that it’s clearly a pejorative but going that far to include somebody who is in a couple?

Also what is the splc (will look it up, just need a tldr)

[–]mgtowolf 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The splc is a joke. Complete rubbish. Yes we hate on incels so they are a hate group when they get angry in return. Same old case of woman hits man nothing happens man hits women or she claims he did man goes to jail. Same story new tactic

It's the low hanging fruit. Feminists for example will most likely only quote feminist literature, mens groups do the same. The splc is a hate group that throws fingers at everyone else for being a hate group. We need to read and understand their research to pick it apart. Not just parrot our own

Hypergamy is a trait historically shared by men and women alike troughout different societies.

That's your weakest argument, and always has been, because you're deadset on cherrypicking history and eliminating any relevant context outside what feeds a much needed narative.

You're not the butt of jokes because of your suffering, but because of your unwillingness to apply solutions that are difficult and uncomfortable by nature, as applies to any treatment or most forms of healing.

Life is suffering, and its the same for the majority. No one escapes that while they live, but they can certainly live happily while coexisting whith life's challenges.

What you maddingly chase tho, is a victim status while spining status confirming conspiracies.

People like you hate nothing more than being appreciated, because it gives you hope that you can get the whole cake without effort.

Reality says different. Effort is required for change, not for trading guarantees.

What you hate is everything that you need in order to get what you need, simply because of what it is.

Maturity, patience, self accountability and empathy.

I don't hate you. I don't devalue you.

I see you, trough the mist of narative and gaslighting attempts.

I see YOU trough the web of arguments you weave.

I'm sorry you are where you are, but I know you can get yourself out of it. Its not what you make it out to be. It never has been.

You get some empathy, but certainly not what you're trying to manipulate people into offering you.

That's not how that works.

This is not the way.

I spent a few days investigating Incel web sites and totally agree with this author. The idea that Incels are upset because they can't get sex is incorrect. They acknowledge that sex is cheap. They want love.

Men though out history have lived fulfilling lives without women. It is a modern invention that romantic love is the most wonderful thing in the world and necessary, a right.

It's OK, but the love I have for my son is much more important to me.

Suicide infuses the Incel web sites leading me to believe many Incel killings have been murder suicides.

Blame Hollywood??

Oddly enough the first use of the term incel was in reference to women back in 1997, yeah this gives some background.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-45284455.amp

Unfortunately as people find out, being loved is not a guarantee, best you can do is not glamorize love, and have friends/healthy social interaction.

Personally especially with the divorce rate being so high, love is not enough for happiness. Really want love get a pet you can take care off or even houseplants. But love should not be dependent on external factors anyway.

I haven't thought about this before and I was reading an article about how we have all of this active political discourse promoting the idea that whatever women look like it, should be appealing and we should be considered attractive and if you don't consider all women attractive, you are a sexist bigot and I guess whatever misogynistic term they want to use for the day.

But if you're a man you're simply coded as unlovable without any care or concern. you are an incel and will be shamed for that fact. Moreover, you are toxic if you try to claim otherwise!! If a man claims a right to be attractive he is in some way not deserving of being loved and desired.

I don't know why it has taken me this long to put these two things together, what hypocrisy what sexism!!!

Now to be clear I don't believe anybody has a right the claim that they are to be considered attractive by anyone but to cater two women in a way that we demonize men has to be called out not because it's unfair but because undesirable men do not need to be demonized especially by a group of hypocrites.

[–]AndyBrown65 22 points23 points24 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"Incel" is just a bullying term.

There have been studies where men rate women's attractiveness and the results were that 50% of women were "attractive" and 50% "unattractive. When the women rated men's attractiveness, only 16% of men were "attractive"

This is a great write up, but fails to address some of the other conditions that lead to inceldom: society’s Great Lie.

This is what has been taught to young boys for most of the last century by their mothers, aunts, older sisters and female authority figures.

It is also explicitly designed to make those men who internalize and conform to the Great Lie supremely unattractive to women. The entire point of the Great Lie is to make “inadequate” men intentionally self-select themselves out of the ranks of truly desirable men - the dark-triad sociopaths and assholes.

To have the chaff do all the hard work in separating itself from the wheat, to spindle a metaphor.

As such, !ncels have swallowed a poison pill, and have done so under the instructions of those they instinctually trusted when they were too young to know better.

[–]63daddy 34 points35 points36 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

This is a really interesting point that also relates to the surge of PUAs, dating coaches etc a decade or so ago. I think their basic starting point was that the narrative sold in the media and by women is a big lie, and you won’t get anywhere until you are willing to discard that myth.

One accurate thing a woman, my mom, did tell me is that when she was young women routinely tested men by rejecting them to see who had the fortitude to get rejected several times. She was essentially saying no doesn’t necessarily mean no. I think many women still do that. The problem today is men who are willing to challenge such tests can find themselves accused of sexual harassment. I have to wonder how many “incels” have had it pounded into their heads that going after a woman equals harassment. I know if I had to go through all the sexual harassment training/agenda pushed in education today, I’d be scared to death to approach women.

[–]disayle32 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women who play those stupid rejection games are no longer worth going after, if they were ever worth going after in the first place. Which is highly unlikely.

[–]ABBucsfan 29 points30 points31 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

I'm assuming the great lie you are talking about is what a lot of women will list as desirable traits but reality is different? Like how they always say they want a gentleman, a kind man, doing housework is sexy etc? Or guys in the friend zone being told they wished more guys were like them? Lol. If so I totally agree. And then the 'incels' (although really anyone.. even married guys) are rediculed when they point out the inconsistency between what they say and do...

[–]ThrowAway640KB 25 points26 points27 points 4 years ago* (6 children) | Copy Link

Bingo

Although at its core are two concepts: “being nice”, and the reinforcement of equivalent exchange, which utterly violates Briffault’s Law in a deeply hypocritical manner.

For example, “you shouldn’t hit Suzy if you want her to like you”, as something that would be told to an 8-yo boy. That’s a reinforcement of both premises, which suppress any nascent dark-triad attributes in order to refocus the personality towards being kind and gentle and attentive to her needs, and reinforcing the very masculine concept of tit-for-tat, of being rewarded for “correct” behaviour.

The entire edifice of which only serves to make an adult male who confirms to this pattern as being sexually/reproductively repulsive to the vast majority of women.

Women might be good friends with these kinds of men, but rarely fuck them and almost never have children with them. At best, the only real worth of these men is as resources to be strip-mined, as a sexless surrogate father to take care of her own four children from three different other men.

[+]pumpkinpeopleunite -22 points-21 points-20 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

You sound like an incel yourself here. Your comment is full of baseless claims about "female nature". This idea that women only go for assholes and all the nice decent men are single is ridiculous. I mean, I know plenty of women who are married to nice, decent men. Don't you? I actually can't believe people are upvoting and agreeing with you, it's embarrassing for this sub. Can we not for once and for all dispense with the stupid belief that the men who have trouble finding female partners are in that situation because they are such nice guys and that's somehow why no women want them?

[–]ABBucsfan 15 points16 points17 points 4 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link

I could be biased from my own personal experience, but the idea that a lot of them settle later for the 'decent guy' they end up resenting seems to hold up a lot of the time. My ex even admitted to it after two kids with me. She was into he thirties and married me because she thought I was a decent guy and it was something she should do for having a family etc. I've seen it happen to other friends. There was one guy in my church before.. man felt so bad for him. When trying to help the two of us admitted she almost left him.. nicest dude, but she seemed to beat him up about stupid things even to this day. I think his indecisiveness and his aim for her approval bothered her. I've dealt with it myself.. so ahead and make the choice and hear about it later or ask and get the eye roll about not being able to decide. He had to take time off work and go to therapy and stuff and while I had good interactions with her myself she seemed like a bit of a handful. Seems like very strong willed, stubborn types often get connected with us more laid back, quieter types. We were somewhat similar in nature

For sure it's not 100% and some guys are bad husband's.. but it's def frustrating when a lot of women don't mean what they say or maybe just don't really know what they actually want. Guys aren't infallible in that regard. I certainly could have seen the red flags and chose better myself. A bit of wishful thinking

[+]pumpkinpeopleunite -14 points-13 points-12 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Sorry but yes you are biased (probably because of your own experience). The friends I was talking about all married in their 20's, after a few years of dating. They weren't settling for the 'decent guy' and then ended up resenting him, they married the person they love, and still have a good relationship in their 40"s. If you find that hard to believe then you probably need to examine your biases a bit

[–]disayle32 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well quite frankly I don't actually know any couples under 60 that are still all that happily married years later. At best they're comfortable and in a routine. Mostly enjoy parenthood. I knew lots of other families at church and different study groups, family, others I know through my kids etc. Def lots of nice social media posts and some that may seem happy, but I don't know them well enough. I find once you get to know them most of the time they're so so.. not a bad marriage, but nothing special. Some like the other coupoe shock you because you think things are great.. just as we shocked everyone else that we were divorcing. But most are more like my folks.. they each kinda do their own thing, occasionally go out, but routine. Which quite frankly is realistic considering hormones levels and isn't all bad. But know at least a few I felt bad for always trying to meet the happy wife, happy life thing

[–]TitanicPat 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Its used to claim that the only value a person may hold, is the value bestowed upon them by women.

Men's gender role, as designed by feminism, is to seek the approval of women by constantly striving to make them happy and comfortable.

Any man who is not motivated by pleasing a woman is "Bad".

Feminists don't have to demand anybody Obey them, they merely manipulate and maneuver morality to benefit themselves and wait for men to be "Good"

Erm... who says "sex is a basic need"? I mean, the comment below that says human contact and affection is a basic need is correct, but I haven't heard "sex is a basic need" as a response to teaching kids abstinence.

U.S is a really dumb place. Religion really has made people there rather stupid. It isn't nor never should be that you can't tell kids to be abstinent. It is the most effective way to prevent STD's and pregnancy. However it's not the only fucking way. There's not that much to teach about "don't have sex", however there's a shitton to teach about how to have sex safely, including saying no.

It is confusing reading the things U.S ppl say cause there are gaping holes of either basic logic, basic facts or because of lies/stupidity.

As a pro-choice (for the first 20 weeks) person I have my biases, but even I think that's a terrible argument against abortion.

Not only that, but anti-abortion arguments such as the one you propose only validate the suspicion that pro-lifers are motivated by ressentiment against sexually successful people (as opposed to being motivated by a sincere belief that abortion is murder).

[–]tired_hillbilly 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

This is more of an argument against accusing incels of being entitled. You don't get to call other people entitled for being frustrated about sexlessness when you act like it's the most important thing ever.

If sex wasn't a big deal to them, abstinence wouldn't be either, and so an abortion ban wouldn't be a big problem.

[–]YetAnotherCommenter 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is more of an argument against accusing incels of being entitled.

But it doesn't even work as an argument against calling incels entitled.

A right to abortion can easily be a negative right (i.e. by making abortion legal but not publicly funding abortion). A woman who procures her own abortion after having consensual sex is imposing positive obligations on no one.

A right to sex, as defined by most incels, is absolutely a positive right to sex (i.e. an obligation for other people to provide them with sex).

I agree with you that simply dismissing incels as "entitled males" is unfair (and counterproductive at that). But your argument was simply a false equivalence.

[+]Morundar -9 points-8 points-7 points 4 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Holy crap how your mind finds some leaps.

You are actually seeing some sort of similarity between not being entitled to sex and abortions?

What's your point here? That YOU ARE ENTITLED to sex? Or that abortions SHOULD BE banned?

Or is this basically that since you don't like being told that you're not entitled to sex, so you go "Well you can't have abortions then! HA!" Is there like... any logic here?

The prevailing conception of incels is that they simply believe that women owe them sex, and are enraged because no woman is willing to oblige.

I'm genuinely curious. For those that have maybe participated or visited incel forums and sites, is this accurate? I know the other doesn't assert this, but it's something I've seen asserted in other places. I don't believe this conception to be true but fill me in if you have info.

Anyway I read that whole thing and kudos to whoever wrote it, was a fantastic read. Lots of great points touched on such as media making jokes of men, trying to restructure views on fat/black/trans/disabled women, and the fact that many incels do attempt self-improvement but still continue to face the same barriers.

There's a lot to digest from all of that, I just hope that some people outside of the "manosphere" do take the time to read it.

Depends on the forum honestly. It ranges from "bitter and jaded" to "straight up evil". I won't pretend, a lot of them are genuenly awful and the stuff they talk about would deserve a life sentence if it was carried out. However others are just bitter guys complaining about their shitty lives, the unfair dating market and the useless dating advice that men get. Frankly, incels are a very hard nut to crack. On one hand i feel like they deserve help that mainstream society doesn't want to give them. On another it's very hard to do without it spiraling out of control

Yea. Every person deserves the choice of being able to date who they want. It's just women have all the power in this relationship. You can't force women to go out with men, but then it leaves them with tons of power over men because of the current scheme. And many of these women are not afraid of taking advantage of this power either.

I agree that it's not something that you can put a bandaid on. Would have to be media taking a stance and actually trying to get the perception of men in a more positive light, something we all know the feminist overlords will never allow.

that’s straight up not true my man, there are plenty of people who can’t get laid who aren’t incels. Incels almost always have a strong presence online, tend to use social media heavily and almost all of them are supporters of the concept of the red pill.

The word incel might be shorthand for the phrase involuntarily celibate, but saying that that’s the only thing it means is like saying that a nazi was just a national socialist, and nothing more.
