I'm a 5'6 20m in a country where average height is 5'11. I've had some success with women, I've been with some more attractive ones, and some less. Things that I noticed are common among the women that are into me is not only being smart and/or ambitious and [interestingly] exactly my height, but also being a little more on the unattractive site.

An interesting thing- I'd say on average, if we were to divide all of them into two groups- those who seemed interested after meeting me IRL, and those who I met through dating apps- the ones met IRL were more conventionally attractive.

Why do you think that is? The following is my strongest theory:

I remember that back in the early years of high school, when I didn't think of myself as short, but as tall- only potentially- I was hit on more often and by more attractive girls, but whenever they were taller, I rejected them simply because of that fact. And for the lat 1-2 years, a weird shift in my thinking occured: now I'm super attacted to taller girls, and loved the dynamic between me and the one bigger gal I've dated so far.

I think that as you grow to realize your dating pool isn't very big, you are forced to begin looking at attractiveness, masculinity and femininity in a more open-minded manner, and are more accepting of different kinds of people. I think that the less attractive women on dating apps are more likely to read through the bio and pay more attention to who you present yourself as, whereas IRL the women who have more choices and wouldn't bother meeting you closely on a dating app, are witnessing and processing your personality and way of being. The first group CHOOSES to look at you in a broader perspective, and in the case of the other, environment does it for them and creates the attraction in their mind.

It may seem obvious to some, but for me, it isn't. It might be, that I'm making this up and someone will say their experience says otherwise. The situation might be a little more complex, and therefore I'd like to hear others' opinion on this.
