Im 35 years old. Been divorced since 2015. Was only married 1.5 years to my college GF of 6 years so almost 8 years total. It was the most painful thing I’ve ever mentally dealt with. Silver linings-Didn’t have any kids together, no alimony payments, she moved several states away. Wish her well but do not want or have any contact with her.

Fast forward, I’ve been dating a great girl for almost 2 years, I love her, I do want to be married and start a family. We’ve talked about marriage , we’re both in it for “the long haul” . We even went to look at rings together. Engagement is required for us to live together, marriage is required to purchase a home together (these are both of our requirements) she’s never been married.

The issue, there’s just not the same excitement. I think about that day, the planning involved, bringing the families together. It’s all just meh. I can’t tell if this is solely my bias experience from the first marriage, or if she may not be “the right girl”. However I don’t think there is a “better girl” out there.

Just looking for perspective for those that may have dove back in for a second round…
