I've heard many women say this. But I never really understood what they meant.

What kind of protection are they talking about?

Protected from what?

Are they talking about physical protection? I mean, do you they want to be protected from assaulters or from people who want to hurt them? And if that's the case, wouldn't it be better to hire a bodyguard so he can keep them both safe?

Or is it emotional protection? Which means they want to be with someone they can trust and be vulnerable with.
