Most people are a 4-6 though. Most people are average, so it makes sense that you'd observe people (/women) befriending people who are "average" in general more than "extremely ugly."

People who are noticeably ugly (not just average or invisible) tend to be ostracized by society in general, not just women.

Ever seen groups of friends? I work across from a high school. If I could take the various groups that come in both boys and girls and scramble them up in a room, then put the groups back together again it would be fairly easy .

Like attracts like. People find their tribe .

Some people reject their tribe, be it all-around antisocial or always trying to hang with the crowd they wish was their tribe and end up being the loner kid.

Same thing happened when I went to school.

This one is indeed cap. I’ve seen ugly dudes be friends with gorgeous women. Hell I have a few drop dead gorgeous female friends. I really don’t think there’s a looks barrier for friendship. Now you can argue that it’s harder for ugly men, agreed, but certainly not impossible.

My 6 year old niece is currently being excluded from a little friendship group which seems to be based entirely on how the little ones look.

In my opinion, „ugly“ or not has a lot to do with clothes, personal style, decent hair cut, trying to stay relatively fit and healthy and taking care of one‘s self in general. I tend to be friends with people who live a similar lifestyle and, as something that comes naturally with it, take care of the things mentioned in a similar way I do. I guess from there your rating would only go up/down a bit depending on facial features etc, but generally, all of my friends would range somewhere near me. I think that might be the reason that there’s no ”ugly“ guy in my circle of friends, if you wanted to call me a hot girl.

In your theory though- who are the hot guys friends with?? No women friends at all?

Idk about guy friends for me.

But I do subconscious do this with other women.. I think it's just because I feel the competition to compete with them physically.

I would say a lot of other girls think this way at a young age because we feel pressured to look the best of the best, some of us grow out of it, for some it takes a little longer..

For guys I could care less really, I've had guy friends who go from 2/10 to 10/10, it's not something I think about very much unless a guy smells or acts weird.

Now that I think about it, I noticed all my closest 'male friends' are over 6 ft tall (6'2, 6'4, 6'1). That is about the most common trait. It came up recently because they started talking about attracting decent women being easy to a shorter guy in our social circle that claimed to have "tried everything" and claimed all the women he's been with were train wrecks, I just remember saying duh; reminder you're all 6 ft and attractive. They are so stupid.

This isn't true. I know many women who have male friends that are far more attractive than, as attractive as and less attractive than them.

However, women do tend to get mad when there's other women in the group that are more attractive than they are, even when they're paired up with someone.

When I was in uni, I and a lot of other less attractive guys there had some really hot girls as friends. I even had the opportunity to have relationships with them that were physically intimate in nature, though none of them lasted more than three months. But then again I've never been good at making relationships last long-term so that's probably not a looks thing.

Maybe pretty girls being friends with ugly guys is just more common among younger people?
