Idk man, I had some Indian friends where I used to work on visas and this was a regular occurence for them. You ever seen someone who wants to drink as much as they can (presumably because in their culture it is prohibited, or frowned upon but in New Orleans it's just the norm) but with very little tolerance from almost never drinking?

They would regularly black out, seriously at least once a week, and forget most things they did/said. Sometimes, yes, they do remember the crazy shit that happened, but sometimes they'd come in to work the next day hungover as all hell and when we ask them about the night before they would say "The last thing I remember is..." and it was something long before the party was over. We'd have to give them recaps and you could tell they were literally stunned with some of the fucked up things they did. Normally very quiet and chill guys but after just a few drinks were spilling very dirty secrets and hitting on woman.

One time, I brought my wife to a work function and this one very nice Indian guy made friends with my wife and talked to her like the whole night. You could see by the way he looked at her and followed her he was smitten. I mean, I don't blame him. It was actually kind of cute because he's normally so shy about that kind of stuff and stutters a bit with English, but he was wasted after a couple of champaigns and really opened up. The next monday, he barely remembered who she was.

I get where you're coming from though, especially if your education is telling you otherwise. I've only ever not remembered tiny parts of a drunk night, but that's because if I get to the point of blackout drunk, I will probably just throw up and pass out anyway. I know my limits, but these guys were on theirn journey to discover their true limits.

No one is arguing she isn't breaking any law, and no one is arguing that she isn't someone trying to escalate the situation. The problem that I am seeing is that, again, Police officers should be held to a higher standard than usual people on the street. They are trained to deal with this kind of situation every day, and they first of all shouldn't get into the type of situation where there are 6 people carrying the person breaking the law and she is still able to punch them unrestrained, and second, when punched, they should be able to subdue their primal instincts of "i got punched, there is a threat, i need to eliminate threat" if the situation isn't particularly threatening their health (like in this situation).

If there is a drunk person coming up to me and trying to harm me while I am alone, while I have absolutely no training in armed or unarmed combat or in deescalating a violent situation, I will do everything possible to save myself including trying to knockout the agressor as fast as possible. If I was a cop and had company, I'd have more, better, nonviolent options available than that.

I am not from the US. I don't know exactly how your police gets trained, but if there isn't any deescalation training necessary for new recruits, people should be working to change that; there is enough (even necessary) police violence without policemen thatt don't know what to do.

She looked like she got him square on the nose. Yes, her first swing missed and looked drunkenly inept, but her second swing connected. His reaction to that is lightening fast. "I got hit. That shit hurt. Better do something about that so it doesn't happen again." That's if he even thought, but that is probably what registered in his brain.

This isn't even heat of the moment emotion. This is someone who got hurt and reacted quickly. If you disagree, let's try this... have a woman slap you in the nose as hard as she can. Because you are expecting it, your reaction won't be the same as you'll be prepared. But I bet you wouldn't do it. Why? Because that shit hurts real bad.

I don't know why people think because men are bigger physically, that their pain receptors are different. I don't think there is a study that says more muscle = better threshold for pain.

No, I would not say that.... his reaction was well within his means (he may or may not have pulled it back) and was probably even trained on how to 'neutralize' the situation. Muscle memory.

Im not siring the shit here, really not. When I look at the mug shot, she didn't even have the start of a shiner going so, it leads me to the question and one I can answer... was it open handed or closed fist? I think her going limp noodle may not have been a KO but a reaction to having never been checked before.

At the end of the day, the story is pretty simple. Dont throw punches, slaps, whatever, unless you are really prepared to eat one yourself. The one that comes back is not something you can then judge as an over use of strength, it just is a returned favor.

Okay, well, you’re wrong right off the bat. I’m a woman; I don’t think a punch that hard was necessary. However, when you come into a situation as the aggressor, you pretty much better be prepared to potentially get your ass knocked out. If you escalate things to a physical altercation, know that you’ve crossed over a line and into a territory where there may not be any restraint held against you just because “you’re a woman”. It doesn’t mean the cop behaved correctly. It doesn’t even mean what he did was the right thing. But, it’s simply a matter of fact: if you’re the instigator of a physical altercation, you’d have to be a blithering idiot to think it would go without any unwanted consequences.

If I punch someone in the middle of a verbal argument and I take that next step and raise a verbal fight to a physical one, I cannot just expect to let it go unnoticed or unpunished, for lack of a better word. The other person may not have any self-control and may come back swinging twice as hard and that’s the stupid prize you potentially win when you enter into a stupid game. I know it’s a lame phrase that everyone says but it truly is applicable.

Can’t really fault the cop for just reacting instinctively. It’s a bad situation to be in the middle of that chaos trying to drag someone out and they start going for your face with god knows what.

That being said, I don’t think I would’ve reacted like that unless there were like 20 other riots going on the stadium at the same time.

I remember one time being out at this nightclub downtown somewhere and two different crazy bitches attacked me out of the blue with absolutely no warning or previous interaction with them whatsoever. I must’ve really looked like someone they were mad at.

Anyways, first one slapped me and second one tried to punch me but there’s just no force whatsoever when a drunk girl takes a swing at you unless she’s seriously trained or happens to get a great windup. I vaguely remember laughing in their faces and not even getting mad because it was so pathetic.

Few minutes later though, one of the girls did the same thing to some other guy and he fucking destroyed her with one punch. Don’t know what ever happened with that but it looked brutal.

Only in your personal opinion, which does not matter at all. You are not the officer. You are not the one who had to make that decision. Sorry I know I sound very mean and cruel but from personal experience as well as family in law enforcement I know that people with opinions like yours are coming from a place of ignorance in many cases.

She assaulted him, he used the necessary force to end the threat she posed to him, herself and others.

When one assaults an officer the officer is required to think in worst case scenario's. What ends up being a simple slap or hit that leaves no lasting damage can easily also be one that causes serious injury.

This is where I Speak from personal experience. All it takes is one swing at the right time to accidentally do serious and possibly lethal damage. I have had to fill out more than one witness report because of a drunks actions and seeing such accidents happen at work. I used to work in a night club many years ago. I have seen women hit and slap men in such a way that leaves permanent damage and loss of sight in an eye(And not always by accident). Also have seen many women acting just like her thinking they can get away with it just because they are women.

If this woman who hit the officer had long nails she could have easily cause the officer to lose and eye. The chance of that happening is slim of course...but it is a serious possibility.

She was not leaving by her own free will. She is the one who escalated the situation to where she had to be forcibly removed and carried out. After she hit the officer she made it very clear she was going to continue to behave as such as they carried her out. Putting the officers at risk of injury while they try to restrain her without hurting her. Putting herself at risk as her continued struggling and fighting could have cause them to drop her which could have resulted in a very serious head injury. Or she could have accidentally hit or kicked an innocent bystander as they carried her out.

After hitting the officer she proved she was violent. Her continued struggle could have very easily accidentally injured some one else who she never intended. Won't some one think of the children?!? But seriously her actions put others at risk, which if a child was sitting near by could put them at risk. All it would take is a kick that missed it's mark to possible cause serious or even death to anyone. Like myself in my current state of health one solid hit to my head could very well mean I am not getting back up.

Just like how police officers are trained to aim and hit Centre Mass when having to shoot at a suspect. There is no warning shots or attempts to disable them, as that just puts the officer and any one around at additional risk. End the threat ASAP is how they are taught and what is drilled into them. They can not take chance with anything.

My father was a correctional officer. He had to deal with people everyday who hated him and would have loved to have hurt him and his family. He had a responsibility to take his personal safety very seriously just like any law enforcement officer does. Where so many people see unreasonable force there could also be some one who has to do what it takes to make sure that they get to back home to those that rely on them too. We have so many recent cases we can look to in the US where public opinion was against the police because of perceived excessive force but once all the facts are known and investigations are done there is no doubt left as to the officers actions.

Also not his fault he knocked her out. She just can't take a punch. If she would have stay conscious would that have made it okay in your opinion?

Their opinions matter only so much. The people rarely have a complete understanding of what is going at a moment like that. Do you not stop to ask what she had to do in order for her to need to be forcibly removed in the first place? Context Matters, something citizens lack. Just like how people were recently protesting ICE when they were conducting an arrest for Child Sex Trafficking. The Citizens opinions only matter so far.

It’s on the public to decide how police should and shouldn’t behave.

And which part of the public is that? The Majority? The Minority? Those who the police most often encounter due to their own personal life choices?

The public get their input of course, but they do not get the final say. What people perceive is rarely the reality of the situation. We hear public outcries over actions well before investigations are even started. The Court of Public Opinion does not matter. Just because a majority of people hold an opinion does not mean it is the right one.

Not at all. Well short of a child. This was a perfect example of the use of force. He put an end to the threat she posed not only to himself but to herself and others around her. She obviously was not leaving by her own free will. Her actions could have easily made some one drop her which could have resulted in a very serious injury to herself or some one else who she may have fell on.

The Gender and skin colour do not matter here either. This is just a case of a Drunk asshole who refused to leave when asked by staff and had the police called on them. They refused to leave even when asked by the police and therefore had to be forcibly removed.

They're doing a really shit job of controlling a tiny woman, and there was no need for a punch (imo).

The only reason you bring up that she was tiny is because she is a woman. A tiny man behaving that way would have been treated exactly the same. So her size does not matter here.

And you really do not understand alcohol either. Makes sense, I am guessing you have not been a Correctional Officer. A TINY man who was no more than 5'4" who is drunk on prison moonshine can be a very big challenge for 3 large men all over 6 Feet tall to get under control. Since the officers are restricted in what they can do and have to try to not use excessive force on some one who is doing everything in their power to resist. Against some one who is not fighting using the same rules that the officers have to use. She was not hit until she physically assaulted the officer.

The police did deal with this situation professionally. She was the one who escalated the situation every single step of the way. Her actions are which forced the actions of the officers. She was treated just like anyone else would have been if they were acting like her.

Yet again, no idea why I'm explaining this to you, incels never read comments.
