It could be 1,000 men and 1 woman and they would still say that the number of women killed was too high, but the men killed are just fine.

[–]ILOVEBOPIT 32 points33 points34 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They’d rather bring down the number of women killed by 10 than decrease the number of men killed by 100, the way they talk about it.

[–]CaptainCanuck15 19 points20 points21 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I'm not sure they would say it's fine, but a lot would blame all men for that one woman killed.

[–]vaevictus75 10 points11 points12 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

That they would

[–]Farrenkorr 8 points9 points10 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

and justify the killing of men by blaming other men like that makes it ok...

[–]qizhNotch 5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Evolution has its flaws, men died in greater numbers but society sees it as a necessary sacrifice and it’s going to take tolls on future generations.

Is there one for the US?

[–]crimefightingloser 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Canada has relatively low homicide rates, eh? 400 homicides or close in just one of our cities alone in America.

[–]mcmur 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

lol.

Saving this.

[–][deleted] 451 points452 points453 points 5 years ago (63 children) | Copy Link

I didn't know femicide is when 80% of all homicide victims worldwide are male.

This is basically the meme :

"70% of all Candian Homicide victims are male"

- Women most affected

[–]realzanji 219 points220 points221 points 5 years ago (26 children) | Copy Link

30% of all Canadian Homicide victims are female!

We have to do something, women are dying!

[–]japanesuss 94 points95 points96 points 5 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link

"1 in 5 homeless people are women"

[–]ILOVEBOPIT 21 points22 points23 points 5 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

That’s a little like the news about the recent shooting in Atlanta. “8 people shot, but 6 of them were women!” As if that makes it worse, and it would be better if men had died instead?

[–]MarsRisen 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I thought it was 6 Asian women and 2 white women?

[–]purplecramps 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

I don't think that was why it was important that they're women. A lot of the recent attacks against asians in the US have been against people who are less able to protect themselves: male and female elders and now women. It emphasizes how scummy the actions of the attackers are.

Context matters

[–]ILOVEBOPIT 9 points10 points11 points 5 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Everyone, man or woman, is equally helpless against a shooter unless they also have a gun, in which case man/woman still doesn’t matter.

[–]purplecramps 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm not denying your point I'm just saying the shooter specifically targeted asian women and maybe thats worth pointing out too

[–]purplecramps 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

But why did the shooter specifically target asian women? He specifically went to 3 spas where asian women work

[–]ILOVEBOPIT 5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Who knows why a psycho picks a certain spot, there could be a million reasons, and he killed men too. Regardless, no one should be acting like women dying is worse.

[–]purplecramps 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The lives of men and women should not be valued differently, but it does seem that society values women's lives with greater value. It could perhaps be due to the fact that women are perceived to be more vulnerable and thus any attacks are seen as attacking the more vulnerable. I'm in no way saying the lost lives of these asian women shouldn't matter nor am I saying that men's lives shouldn't be valued. I'm just stating an observation

[–]MarsRisen 6 points7 points8 points 5 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link

The victims were both Asian and White, so idk if it was to specifically target Asians. Also he said it wasn't racially motivated. Take that as you will, only his sick ass truly knows. Might seem like a coincidence but sex spas are predominantly owned by Asians.

[–]purplecramps 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Yeah that's true. Nobody can truly know. It just seems like an interesting coincidence that a shooting that predominantly involves asians happens in sequence with other attacks on asians. While we can never truly know, it does seem highly suspicious. I'm not the type of person to cast instant judgements but this one does seem highly suspicious although I do agree I am biased as an asian

[–]MarsRisen 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I think we see what we want to see. I was in a thread earlier where black folks were calling out Asian on Black violence and saying they were going to sit this one out. I sent videos of black on Asian, Asian on black attacks this year. The violence is widespread and no one's safe. I feel yall tho, it's not deserved and if I ever saw it happen I'd be there to help. We've got to stick together. It's been a few years of watching everyone condone violence towards blacks, whites, Asians, Trump supporters, Biden fans, Bernie bros or whatever. We've got to stop all this madness.

[–]Jumpy-Restaurant-500 -2 points-1 points0 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

That’s not the point at all. The Asian women were particularly targeted because they’re Asian women. The shooter sexualized them, thought it was a sin to do so, and decided the solution is to kill Asian women. It’s especially important because violence against Asians have increased since the pandemic for the most hateful and ignorant reasons. The men who died in this murder is horribly sad and is talked about in articles. The header is different because it’s highlighting the main target and draw to the larger issue of hate crime against Asians.

[–]ILOVEBOPIT 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I haven’t seen a single thing about the men, but I’ve seen Instagram posts with photos of large text names of the 6 women. And I guess we can just forget the men who died, they don’t matter.

[–]MarsRisen 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Two of the victims were white though...why shoot them too? Plus he said it wasn't racially motivated. No doubt it was to target women. Who knows though.

[+][deleted] -45 points-44 points-43 points 5 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

The majority of the women die at the hands of a male as do male murder victims. I think I definitely see a problem here.

Women demand justice. Why don't men?

[–]sceptical_throw 35 points36 points37 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

How aboutism and denying to recognize each other's problems is not a path that leads to that justice of yours, in my humble opinion. Noone in this thread denied or ignored what you said. However, men ought to be able to talk about their issues in a sub that is meant for men to talk about their issues.

Time and place my friend. Time and place...

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points0 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Good point. I will leave you gentlemen to your musings.

[–]MostlyPeacefulReddit 5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Translation: u/Opening_Cup5081 wants you to know they think men’s issues are a joke

[–][deleted] 19 points20 points21 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

When one day i'm gonna get shot while walking home at night, with my dying breath i will whisper "at least i wasn't shot by a woman" and die smiling.

[–]HPUnicorn 12 points13 points14 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

So your focus and concern is not on the victims but rather on the men who kill, I wonder, would you be as concerned if the majority of those killing women were women.

[–][deleted] -5 points-4 points-3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

all I'm asking is why men aren't concerned that men are killing men because the majority of men are murdered by men.

I care about victims but to help them we need to stop the murderers. For the record - all murder victims, not just the ladies.

If you want to carry a grudge because female activists have high visibility then so be it.

I do not consider men expendable in any way.

[–]MostlyPeacefulReddit 7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

lmfao men DO demand justice you fuckin idiot but nobody gives a shit because they want to fuck women and get their approval

[–]MBV-09-C 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

We quite literally are? I don't get how you come into a place we're literally asking for justice in and somehow think we aren't.

[–]Izzno 7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (22 children) | Copy Link

They started using "feminicide" when a man kills a women. It happened a couple times this year so far.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It’s called femicide.

[–]Izzno 5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Sorry I mixed it up with the french word. The point still applies.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (18 children) | Copy Link

Is there a male version?

[–]Izzno 10 points11 points12 points 5 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

Just a murder I guess.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

I think they're usually called ( according to feminists ) a drive-by or a gang-related shooting.

[–]MarsRisen 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

Nah feminists just call it self defense. Like with Chrystul Kizer who shot a random guy in the head twice while he slept. Stole his belongings, his car, lit his house on fire...bragged on Facebook live about it. Was caught and claimed she was sex trafficked, defended herself. Feminists then went on a huge campaign to raise money for her and get her freed.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

Are you sure about that mate? Volar had commited sex crimes against children and furthermore it was "alleged" that he was a sex trafficker. Either way there's one less pedophile in the world.

[–]MarsRisen 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

His another case where a woman tried to say a "black man" did it, then self defense and then said her husband asked her to do it...literally pulling every stop along the way.

https://www.theday.com/article/20070517/DAYARC/305179942

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

lol. It would have worked if it was 1950.

[–]MarsRisen 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Sad but true...

[–]MarsRisen 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Yes those were the details of the case. So far there's been no proof he was one or that he was made aware of her age. Evidence shows he randomly picked her up at a Sonic. She had a pimp, who gave her the gun. She also was 17, which physically can pass for 18. Point is, if she had turned him into the cops...cool. But considering she shot him in the back of the head twice, stole his stuff, bragged about "killing a white boy" and was willing to do it again...self defense definitely does not apply.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I guess you right in that sense but Volar was a pedophile.

He was charged with the selling of drugs to a 15 - year old black girl and was charged with second-degree sexual assault againist a child and attempting to use a computer to facilitate a child sex crime.

However in this particular case , alot of things are "alledged" and furthermore id she bragged about "killing a white boy" on social media then she is guilty of homicide.

And in the court of law even if you killed a former-pedophile you'll still be charged with homicide.

[–]MarsRisen 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I honestly never knew that, if true I agree...glad he's dead. However this girl didn't know any of that and killed him in cold blood. Not to say he didn't deserve it, karma is a bitch...but we can't just have people offing others just cause.

[–]MarsRisen 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

The media jumped on the false narrative that she was a victim, this happens often. Like with Casey Anthony, where they swallowed up her claim a babysitter had kidnapped her child...

https://www.fox6now.com/news/chrystul-kizer-accused-of-shooting-kenosha-man-and-setting-home-on-fire-pleads-not-guilty

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Yeah , I remember Casey Anthony , I believe she kidnapped her child and murdered her yet the homicide charges were dropped and she was only charged with the "misconduct of a corpse".

[–]MarsRisen 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yup pretty messed up...the jury went with the fact all the evidence was "circumstantial". Still couldn't explain why the child's DNA was in the trunk and why the grandmother had reported smelling a corpse.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No

[–]MBV-09-C 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Technically, that would be 'androcide' iirc, but good luck finding anyone calling it that instead of murder.

[–]isshindoutai100 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Also they assume all male on female murder is a hate crime based on men hating women. Almost none of it is, a good portion is due to things like women cheating etc.

[–][deleted] 5 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

[permanently deleted]

[–]HPUnicorn 11 points12 points13 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

There are some studies out that that show that when a person kills a woman they get a much harsher sentence than if they kill a man, I think this also goes for most crimes.

[–]mcmur 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Any sources for these studies?

[–]HPUnicorn 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Here is one...Google has more.

https://www.justice.gc.ca/eng/rp-pr/jr/jr12/p5e.html

Both the sex and age of the victim have an effect on sentencing outcomes in cases of family-related child abuse. Cases involving female victims were more likely to result in a period of imprisonment as compared to male victims (18% versus 11%). The main reason for this finding is that a higher proportion of girls are sexually assaulted by family members, a crime that tends to result in harsher sentences. Even among cases of sexual assault against children, cases involving girl victims are more likely to get prison than cases involving boy victims (48% versus 37%).

[–]Ryuujinken 11 points12 points13 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm marxist and i consider that "logic" a bunch of fallacies. They are just libtards.

[–]ShoutoutsToSimple 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yep. It's projection. They treat genders as opposing teams, so they assume everyone else does as well.

If you were playing a team sport and the other team cheated, it would be perfectly reasonable to raise the issue that you are unfairly losing due to the actions of the other team. But if you are losing due to your own team's actions, it would be ridiculous to raise the issue to the other team and/or the ref, because the problem is your own team. So you can't blame the other team.

So the logic there is sound, but only if you view genders as opposing teams. And we shouldn't do that. When a man says, "men are more likely to be incarcerated, and for much longer" or "men are more likely to be the victims of random violence", they aren't saying, "...and that's the fault of women." They are just raising an issue which impacts men, and bringing it to public attention so that it can be addressed. But feminists view genders as opposing teams, so they constantly blame men for any issue which harms women. So they project that onto everyone else, assuming that everyone else is the same as they are. So when they hear "men suffer due to X", to them, it makes perfect sense to lash back with "Yeah, but men are the cause of X!"

Feminism and projection, name a more iconic duo. (Not to mention that feminism is basically defined by Patriarchy theory, which itself is based on nothing more than projection of what feminists do when they have any power.)

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

C'mon man , thats not Marxism.

But I don't blame you , with the marketplace of ideas in America being so toxic everyone is either an Anarchist or Nazi.

But I'll try to explain it to you.

Marxist ideals ( culturally ) advocate the equal rights of all races and genders , furthermore this directly goes against feminist ideals , as Marx would have wanted :

- Equal Drafting

- Equal Oppurtunity

- Equal Rights

- Equal Responsibilites

And basic egalitiarianism.

Marx was not a feminist , he was an egalitarian.

[–]MarsRisen 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Unfortunately BLM, Radical feminists have twisted this and claim that they are.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What socialist groups are celebrated by companies? Supported by the American state and given a day to commerate themselves?

Feminists aren't socialists , hell they're because of them politicizing everything class issues are overlooked , they say "All Men" but never think about the fact that 70% of all homeless people are male or the financial struggles that cause men to suicide.

They're just dogs of companies and they don't give a damn about class , just themselves.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That and the communist oligarchs of the U.S.S.R and China have twisted the anti class system of Marx as well.

[–]mcmur 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They're not Marxists.

IDPOL feminists and SJWs are mutated liberals.

[–]Ry-N0h 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]mcmur 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Its honestly such a joke to keep hearing this shit from the people who preach 'gender equality'.

[–][deleted] 226 points227 points228 points 5 years ago (111 children) | Copy Link

Just wait until they find out that little girls aren’t the only ones who get sexually assaulted, and up until the age of 12 the rates of child rape are about the same for boys and girls.

[–]Protektor35 167 points168 points169 points 5 years ago* (110 children) | Copy Link

Rates of rape for men and women are pretty much the same through their entire lives according to the FBI crime stats. Men are sexually assaulted and raped at the same rate that women are. Look it up yourself and see.

Also don't believe the stat that 1:3 college women are raped. It's a bullshit stat. You mean to tell me women would honestly put themselves in a place where they have a 33% chance of being knowingly raped and parents would send their kids to place were 33% of them got raped? Don't be stupid and believe such a clear out and out lie.

[–]primo-_- 47 points48 points49 points 5 years ago (43 children) | Copy Link

Its called regret. Most College rape is drunk girls feeling bad about making poor judgment the night before. For some reason people have agreed this is somehow rape, like in this one situation you aren’t responsible for your decision while drunk. I wish the courts viewed my DUI charge in the same light “But I didn’t want to, I was drunk waaaaahhh!!!!”

The best way to approach the college “rape crisis “ is to remind people that alcohol affects your judgment. We also should never allow drunkenness to be an excuse for poor decision making, I mean this should just be common knowledge.

[–]GranaT0 6 points7 points8 points 5 years ago (42 children) | Copy Link

Most College rape is drunk girls feeling bad about making poor judgment the night before

[citation needed]

[–]primo-_- 8 points9 points10 points 5 years ago (41 children) | Copy Link

Jeez, so many examples to choose from. How about the famous “mattress girl” Obamas spokeswoman on college rape. Her case was dropped when the court accessed her texts, and discovered she was obsessed with the accused. She continued to ask for sex, anal sex during the trial.

Of course you didn’t hear about the court case, it didn’t fit Obamas narrative on the “rape crisis “. Do people really actually believe 30% of women are raped? You can just ask a few friends and find this metric to be flawed.

mattress girl “rape victim “

[–]swampwitch116 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (20 children) | Copy Link

That's not data.

[–]primo-_- 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (19 children) | Copy Link

It 100% is factual and supports what I just said. The data is completely skewed by drunk, vindictive chicks like mattress girl. She literally was the face of all the “data” you speak of, Obama had s state of the union address where he said 25% of college girls are victims of the rape crisis.

[–]swampwitch116 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (18 children) | Copy Link

Maybe that one instance sure, but that's doesn't back up anything you said.

Ok so you have no data for your claims. Maybe don't talk shit about stuff you know nothing about. Be better.

[–]MarsRisen 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago* (13 children) | Copy Link

What logical fallacy have I used?

[–]MarsRisen 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Its not always their fault they've been mislead, there's so many special interests at play who want to manipulate the facts for their benefit.

[–]GranaT0 -3 points-2 points-1 points 5 years ago (19 children) | Copy Link

So zero evidence for your claim, and the outliers noteworthy enough to be published make up "most college girls"?

All I'm asking is to not present personal opinion as fact.

Also it's not 30% that have been raped, but 30% that have been sexually harassed. That includes a bunch of awful stuff more common than straight up rape.

[–]primo-_- 6 points7 points8 points 5 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

The narrative specifically uses the word assault, not harassment. We both agree it is misleading though, so that is good. I agree.

[–]GranaT0 -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

Fair enough, slight difference there, but sexual assault is what I had in mind. How is it misleading? Sexual assault isn't just rape, sure, but it doesn't even include awful stuff like unwanted touching or kissing.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

Actually I believe that stat does include that if it’s the one I’m thinking of from Australia that found 1 in 3 girls are sexually assaulted on campus. They actually went as far as including “leering” as sexual assault.

[–]GranaT0 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

I'm pretty sure you're talking about that really dumb one with like a 97% victim rate

[–]Upper-Organization35 -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It includes rape. That's the point.

[–]GranaT0 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I said isn't just rape

[–]primo-_- 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Did you look at the article by the way? Obama used that girl as an example of a victim of the “rape crisis”, which Obama himself stated 25% of college girls fall victim to. This happens all the time, the college does not do an objective legal case, they just side with the female and expel the male. When these cases go to actual court where you need, like evidence, the cases always go to shit. Dumb people like mattress girl don’t realize the courts can look in both parties phone records to sort things out. Usually comes down to a drunk consensual hook up that is later regretted. If she has had drinks she can always say she was coerced, but the court can also always find those 12am booty call texts she doesn’t want anyone to know about hahaha ahh hoes.....

[–]MarsRisen 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

30% seems ridiculously high. We often hear the 1 in 5 stat but that was done with a survey of 2,560 students in just two college campuses....DOJ did another study in 2014 and the rate came out to "6.1 per 1,000 students, or 0.61 percent".

Basically 1 in 163.9.

I'm sensing the truth is somewhere in the middle of this and the 1 in 5, assuming a good amount don't report it.

https://thefederalist.com/2014/12/11/new-doj-data-on-sexual-assaults-college-students-are-actually-less-likely-to-be-victimized/

[–]homo__schedule 83 points84 points85 points 5 years ago (56 children) | Copy Link

Currently, male rape is significantly lower than female rape but that's because "made/forced to penetrate" ; which is the type of rape most men go through is not included in the CDC's definition of rape, if you do include being made to penetrate as rape, then the rape cases balance out.

[–]Protektor35 83 points84 points85 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Don't go by the CDC guidelines. They include/add unwanted touching in their rape stats and that isn't rape. Go look at the FBI crime stats instead.

[–]nibuku 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Don’t go by the fbi stats, the fbi definition of rape does not allow for a female rapist. This is why the nisvs studies from the cdc includes “made to penetrate” as a category, which is specified as penis-in-vagina penetration.

The cdc provides a more accurate picture.

A man can be made erect without his consent and can be raped by a woman. This is an actual thing that you're grossly erasing for zero logical reason.

[–]homo__schedule 50 points51 points52 points 5 years ago (36 children) | Copy Link

Did you know that you can get boners while unconscious, infact, most people get erect 3-5 times during sleep. It is completely possible to be erect during unconsciousness.

Also a person is unable to consent while drunk. It doesn't matter if you "wanted it or not" I could say the same about drunk women aswell couldn't I? She didn't push me away so she wanted it?

You are not able to make decisions while drunk so even if the man said yes while extremely intoxicated (to the point where you are blacking out) it wouldn't be real consent since he was too inebriated to make a decision.

Also women sometimes try to lock their legs around men's hips while they're trying to pull out. Wouldn't that count as rape aswell? And what's worse, if he cums inside her and she has a child but then leaves him, he'd still be eligible to pay child support.

All of these are things which have happened to my friends and family. And what's worse, most of them didn't even think it was rape. They thought that they should be enjoying it so they never spoke up.

[–]Cherub786-77 points 5 years ago [recovered] (35 children) | Copy Link

I don't know my man, I'm skeptical about calling these situations rape. If you don't want an unwanted child then don't sleep around having unprotected sex. 40% of kids in the US are born out of wedlock. The rate is ever higher in parts of Europe, and in Latin America. And in the US its pretty high among African Americans (over 70%!) If someone is responsible they can't go wrong.

[–]timeslidesRD 33 points34 points35 points 5 years ago* (32 children) | Copy Link

This is a ridiculous post. First, erections are involuntary. If someone/something begins touching you, a lot of times you will get one even if you don't want one. You also get them when you are asleep. Secondly, it doesn't need to be physical force. It can be while you're drunk or under the influence of something else or when you're asleep. Physical force isn't completely out of the question either, some guys are small and physically weak, some women are big. It can also be in situations where you're conscious but let it happen when you don't really want it to, which has happened to me.

I dated a girl who told me she wasn't on the pill after we first had sex, so she had to get the morning after pill. She was angry at me for it, but I didn't know (no we didn't use a condom - it was a long time ago and I was young and dumb).

A week or so later in the middle of night while I was staying at hers, I woke up to feel her touching me and then climbing on top of me. I didn't know what to do, because I wasn't sure of the situation still RE birth control. We hadn't been dating that long so I felt awkward saying something like "no stop" or "what are you doing?" so I didn't say anything. We had sex with her on top and I distinctly remember as I was approaching coming thinking "What do I do? What if she's not on birth control still?! Shit!". Then after I came she suddenly said "did you come?!" and she was angry we were in the same situation again and I felt like shit. By today's standards a lot of people would say I was raped.

[–]Cherub786-53 points 5 years ago [recovered] (31 children) | Copy Link

No it's not.

Suppose a guy was "raped" in one of the scenarios mentioned by u/homo__schedule

Men's sense of honor would never allow him to report it as a crime. If he did report it as a crime the whole world will know that's a man who feels no shame and has no sense of honor. He's willing to expose how emasculated he was to the whole world just so he could probably get some monetary compensation from the court system. I mean what other motivation would he have?

The shame a man has to deal with for becoming known as someone who was "raped" is a lot more unbearable than the actual deed. This goes back to my earlier post "Male Chivalry is Good" which was tragically removed by the mods of this sub.

Male chivalry and sense of honor is dying in this younger, millennial generation. This is a generation of boys that grew up way too sheltered, and many of whom grew up in a single mom household, no father figure to teach them about manliness.

[–]Valmar33 34 points35 points36 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Also don't believe the stat that 1:3 college women are raped. It's a bullshit stat. You mean to tell me women would honestly put themselves in a place where they have a 33% chance of being knowingly raped and parents would send their kids to play were 33% of them got raped? Don't be stupid and believe such a clear out and out lie.

I'd be willing to bet that the overwhelming majority of that figure is regret sex reported as rape, mostly due to the Neo-Liberal education they get which teaches these women that they can just lie for sympathy if they have second-thoughts.

If you look into it it turns out Mary Koss (yes that one) decided to classify all kinds of events as sexual assault. When they inevitably say, 'but men are committing those crimes.' What am I supposed to say?

This...

The narrative on violence and murder starts off being victim focused (IE women getting killed), until the stats about men being more likely to be victims. Then, quite quickly, the narrative becomes perpetrator focused. So male victims don't matter, what matters is the sex of the perpetrator.

They're erasing and ignoring the suffering of one gender because of the gender of the perpetrator. Isn't that a tad sexist?

I'd call what they're doing victim-blaming, but it's actually much worse. they're not merely blaming the victims, you're stripping them of their identity as individual human beings to conflate them with their own victimizers. This is sickening.

What they are essentially doing is simply shifting the conversation from victim to perpetrator to dismiss the victims and are quick to point out the alleged gender of the perpetrator as though that changes the crime or what's being implied or asked.

Well in those situations where the man left they either didn’t want the child ( men have absolutely 0 choice whether a child is born or not), the mother could be restricting the fathers access to the child etc

I looked a little bit and found this: https://www.fixfamilycourts.com/single-mother-home-statistics/

72% of juvenile murderers, and 60% of rapists came from single mother homes. Chuck Colson, “How Shall We Live?” Tyndale House , 2004, p.323

“After controlling for single motherhood, the difference between black and white crime rates disappeared.” Progressive Policy Institute, 1990, quoted by David Blankenhorn, “Fatherless America: Confronting Our Most Urgent Social Problem,” New York, Harper Perennial, 1996, p.31

I don't know the validity of the source and I assume a single-father household would have similar results, but it is interesting if true.

The " but they are murdered by other men!" Argument is stupid.

It doesn't matter who did it. What matters is who is better off, men or women. Which group do you want to belong to? The group that statistically accounts for over 70% of homicide victims or the group that only accounts for 30% of the victims?

Imagine men would make up 70% of cancer deaths. Would the kind of cancer make any difference to the fact that women make up only 30% of cancer deaths? Men are still 3x worse off. Would it make sense for a woman to say "yeah but they die from MALE prostate cancer!"

[–]HPUnicorn 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This reminds me of the comeback to the stat that women are more likely to abuse their children. "But women spend more time with kids", ok, lets say that's true but does the child hurt any less, are his bruises less pronounced because mom spends more time. In fact I could make the argument that spending more time with kids should lower the rate because you would develop coping strategies.

[–]TheSpaceDuck 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'll quote a comment I've made in another subreddit recently addressing this very same argument:

There's so much wrong about that argument (that unfortunately I've heard many times) that there's a long list of valid rebuttals to it:

1 - It immediately tells you the person making it doesn't care about victims at all. If you hear that e.g. 89% of men will suffer violent crime in their life and your first reaction is "how can I use this as an argument against men?" then you're definitely not thinking about the victims no matter how convenient it might be to claim that. If someone responded to the issue of domestic violence against women with "but lesbian women are more likely to suffer it so women are the problem" they would obviously be called a misogynist.

2 - It has absolutely no relevance for the victim, which again shows whoever made the argument has difficulty in feeling empathy. If the topic is (which it often is) that men are much more likely to suffer violent crime, especially by strangers and yet feminists claim "women can't feel safe" then why does the gender of the perpetrator matter? Do these people think a man being mugged, beaten or stabbed thinks "but at least it was another man who did it so I have nothing to fear. Yeah bro code!"? Perpetrator being a man, woman or a Martian has absolutely zero influence of whether I have to live in fear or not.

3 - It's basically a fallacy that assumes a man has more in common with the aggressor than other victims just because they share the same set of genitalia, which again stems from general prejudice against men. A male victim will always have more in common with a female victim than with an aggressor, regardless of their gender. Putting them in the same box because "they're all men" is basically a feminist version of "women are all the same" and numbers show it's wrong: While the vast majority of men will suffer a violent crime in their lives, only a tiny minority of men will ever commit them. I don't have the exact numbers for USA but in Sweden for example 63% of violent crimes are committed by just 1% of the population.

4 - This argument is part of the reason why so many men are targeted. It creates a general lack of empathy towards men by generalizing men as aggressors/dangerous, which has been used throughout history to reduce empathy towards certain groups (including black people). General lack of empathy towards men is a social phenomenon which is absorbed by everyone, men or women. This is why violent criminals don't feel as much remorse from attacking a man than from attacking a woman (and often avoid the latter entirely) or why people are much less likely to react to a man being attacked. By using this argument and immediately putting male victims in the same "men" basket as the aggressors, they contribute further to male violence victimization. This affects even sexual violence. An international study on rape victims not only corroborated the CDC findings that women rape men at the same rate that men rape women, it also showed that higher hostility towards men (or women) resulted in more instances of rape against that gender.

5 - As many pointed out already, it is victim-blaming. Transferring the status of aggressor to the victim because "they're both men" is very obviously gender-based victim-blaming.

6 - It ignores the fact that the reason why men commit more violence is itself due to discrimination and hostility towards men, just like black people committing more violent crime is related to higher discrimination and hostility against black people. Examples of this are:

- Men are much more likely to be homeless.

- Men are more likely to suffer violence themselves.

- Men are more likely to have been abused as children, mostly by mothers.

- Men are more likely to suffer corporal punishment not only by mothers but also by institutions. Corporal punishment has been shown by psychiatrists to greatly increase likelihood of violent crime perpetration and domestic violence perpetration.

- Men are treated with much more hostility from police and authorities: this includes 96% of police killing victims being male, a massive court bias that's 6 times higher than racial bias and male victims of domestic violence being more likely to be arrested than helped. This creates mistrust in authorities and consequentially higher criminality.

All these factors are associated with higher criminality rates and they also apply to other groups that display higher criminality (ethnic minorities, etc.). Anyone who's more interested in painting men as violent than in solving these factors has no interest in helping victims, whether it's male victims of these issues or victims of male violence perpetuated by these issues.

My best comeback is to flip it on its head.

It just so happens that most of the crimes against POC happens to be committed by other POC. So I ask them, given that fact, does that therefore mean it’s not a problem we all should worry about? Doesn’t it just mean that POC are simply inherently more violent? Doesn’t it mean that most POC deserve the problems because it’s other POC causing them problems? (Just so you know POC = People Of Color)

When you use their exact same arguments but you substitute POC for every time they say men and Caucasians for every time they say women, then it really starkly opens up exactly how messed up that line of reasoning is.

[–]mcmur 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If a man kills another a man, how does that make the victim any less of a victim? Because they share some superficial characteristic with one another? How does that make any sense?

The fact of the matter is this: Men are murdered at 4x times the rate women are. Period. The world is measurably a more dangerous place for men that it is for women full-stop.

It's just a completely irrelevant "gotcha" to make them feel like they're some master debatelord.

Don’t forget these statistics like 97% of women being sexually harassed. Has anyone ever looked up what counts as sexual harassment in these statistics?

Ever heard a small penis joke? Even if it’s not about you? You’ve been sexually harassed.

Go find the list. I can’t believe it’s only 97%. I feel like 100% of people with experience something in that last

[–]Mycroft033 8 points9 points10 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You know I had a woman tell me the other day that a guy having a crush on a girl is literally sexual harassment. And she was serious.

[–]HardNuttingFrank 15 points16 points17 points 5 years ago* (6 children) | Copy Link

Another thing I'm going to add onto this: Didn't they only ask between 1000-4000 women, aged 18-24? most sources say they asked over/around 1000 women- because yes, 97% of 1000-4000 women aged 18-24 is 97% of all women alive in the UK currently. There's something inherently flawed and misleading about saying "97% of women have been sexually harassed" when they didn't ask all women, but only a miniscule percentage of them. Then you take into account what some people consider sexual harassment (i've heard a few women say that a man speaking to them, hitting on them, accepting rejection and walking away, is sexual harassment... why? because he said he was interested without knowing these women didn't feel the same way.. and took "no" for an answer with no issues or snarky comments?)

They only asked a very small demographic of women, and only asked a small group of women that age. There's 66-70 million people in the UK. They asked "over 1000" women aged 18-24, and tacked on "yes all women" when it is not. I'd be more inclined to see this as "sexual harassment is an epidemic" if they actually asked all the women over the age of consent in the UK.

[–]343-guilty-mendicant 14 points15 points16 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

The fact that some women call getting asked out harassment is just another reason to want to stay single

[–]HardNuttingFrank 5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

This is why I'm glad I'm in a relationship with another man. Nah, just kidding.

If some women do class non-sexual flirting and asking them out/asking for their number as harassment, the general public can't really complain about men being scared of approaching or interacting with women for fear of being slapped with that kind of accusation.

I'm bi, so I've asked out my fair share of women too. If I asked a random girl for her number, and she said no. Fair enough, my bad, no is no, have a nice day. But I don't see how that would warrant being viewed as being on the same level as someone who will shout "ha, nice tits get them out" at a random woman in the street, a man who will touch a woman without consent, or even a man who would go so far as to rape a woman... Especially if I've taken no for an answer, and gone about my day, because rejection is really no big deal. I've known men personally who have been accused of that for simply breaking up with a girl. Fuck that.

[–]Mycroft033 6 points7 points8 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

[–]HardNuttingFrank 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

haha, I mean I was only kidding around. I'm definitely more wary when it comes to dating women. None of the women I've dated have been that bad, which I guess is a blessing.

I definitely would be even more wary of dating a woman currently, if I was single. Hell, I'd be more wary of approaching them even though I probably shouldn't be.

[–]Jay_Hardy 10 points11 points12 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

And staring was on that survey too, apparently.
So, it’s a flawed survey.

[–]HardNuttingFrank 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

I saw a lot of people mentioning that "asking someone out for a coffee" was in there somewhere and also counts. I don't know if that's true, but if that is included under "unwanted sexual advances" (which I personally have seen people saying that "asking out on a date" is) then "unwanted sexual advances" is very 'open' for lack of a better term.

When i met my boyfriend technically i would have, by definition, sexually harassed him because i made a move, if it was unwanted, even though i wouldn't have known it was unwanted until shooting my shot because we were both two drunk men at a bar and didn't know each other at all. It was not unwanted, clearly. we're still together to this day. (maybe it's 'different' in the eyes of society because we're both men, but my point still stands)

staring was on the survey, yes. I saw that for myself. In some ways, I get it- there are some weird people out there that will continuously stare at you or your body without breaking eye contact even if you catch them out and tell them to knock it off. But staring as a general term? pass.

[–]XenoX10111 points 5 years ago [recovered] (3 children) | Copy Link

It's because sexual harassment is a political term that isn't needed to describe the behaviour. Someone who touches you inappropriately without your permission is already committing a sexual assault, someone who makes repeated comments of a sexual nature is already stalking and/or invading your privacy in ways that are not legal. The reason they use and cling to the term 'sexual harassment' is because it is so vague that they can mold it to anything they like, from mildly inappropriate comments among friends to attacking guys they aren't attracted to hitting on them. Which is why something as benign as asking someone out is now considered sexual harassment (link is to Russia Times but you can follow their link to YouGov's official page for the stats), it allows them to forward the agenda that women are under attack and therefore in need of feminism, among other things. Quite sad that courtship as we know it may eventually be banned under the guise of helping women if this definition shift continues.

Reposting my comment for your benefit:

You know I had a woman tell me the other day that a guy having a crush on a girl is literally sexual harassment. And she was serious.

Keep in mind bro, all those women who have all those stories, have you ever considered they might be exaggerating? There are documented cases of women frequently exaggerating stories like this because no-one is allowed to disbelieve them any more, nothing can be in the way of their stories, no crazy stuff like burden of proof or innocent until proven guilty. So because they’re humans, and humans granted invulnerability are going to take advantage of it and milk it for everything. I’m not saying completely disbelieve them, but I am saying take their stories with a grain of salt.

And the fact that you’re almost certainly really really pissed at me right now, or you think I’m an incel, or you think I’m a misogynistic coward, that should tell you just exactly how nobody is allowed to ask questions, or have the slightest degree of doubt.

[–]JamboShanter -2 points-1 points0 points 5 years ago* (5 children) | Copy Link

These are women I know well and trust, so yes I believe them. Most women don’t want to be seen as victims. Most women don’t want to admit these horrible things that have happened to them. They feel like they’re to blame or pretend it didn’t happen or minimise it to themselves and others. It took a long time and I really had to dig to get them to open up about this stuff. Your preemptive projections of what I might think of you really say more about your mindset than anything I might say. I’d suggest taking the time to actually talk to women about their experiences instead of instantly dismissing them. Because with your opinions at this time - I am not your bro.

[–]Upper-Organization35 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

We are not dismissing the experiences of what female victims went through. Not at all. The problem is that most people are dismissing what male victims of these crimes are put through, which is what you are doing right now. This form is discussing the negative effects of what these cases have on men, and you and people like you keep trying to say women have it worse. No. It is equally bad for everyone. We would like to discuss it but you are not interested in listening at all. So yeah, you aren't our bro.

[–]JamboShanter -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Mycroft guy above literally just said that all women with stories of harassment were exaggerating - how is that not being dismissive? My original comment was saying that I believe the 97% statistic to be accurate. Why are you strawmanning me with all these opinions you assume I have? Why don’t you think it’s possible for me to not want women to be harassed and also not want men to be murdered? They’re not mutually exclusive.

[–]Upper-Organization35 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Why are you strawmanning us? We said it could be an exaggerating because women tend to get very emotional around subjects like these. That's not diminishing what could happen to them, but literally any joke about a woman or any attraction is being viewed as harassment. Yeah I agree there are certain jokes you can't say about a woman, but when women can make jokes about men that make them feel uncomfortable without consequences there is a certain bias that needs to be addressed. Have you heard of a story about a woman who said she was harassed in the subway? Turned out they guy was just waking passed her, just lightly brushing against her as he did. Yet he was still nailed because of her word. Yes, being critical about a woman's claims of being harassed might sound insulting, but being accused of such a crime can seriously screw you over these days. If your guilty of it, then your guilty. If not, you deserve your own say.

[–]JamboShanter 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I’m not straw-manning you, I literally haven’t suggested either of you have any views except from the ones you literally stated. Do you know what strawmanning means? It’s like you’re not even reading what I’m writing, you seem to be responding to things I haven’t even said.

[–]Upper-Organization35 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If you aren't that's what it sounds like. And please don't assume that I'm just saying things out of my butt. If you believe in the statistics you showed then that's fine but don't go assuming something of us when we bring reasons why we are doubtful about it, because we have every reason to

Being expendable means you're free to stand tall against the world and against anything and everything that matters to you. The buck stops with men because our lives can only be made to count by finding that higher purpose.

Recently, a bunch of my friends have been posting shit all over their social media about feminism and how hard women have it. That would be fine, if they weren't so fucking stupid. They keep preaching about " a woman is killed by a man every 3 days" and "97% of women are sexually harassed" and it's so aggravating to know that I can't correct them because they'll just ignore it or assume I hate women.

Caring about women's issues and spreading that is fine - it's a great cause if you do it well and appropriately, just as good as talking about men's issues - but spreading misinformation and caring about women More isn't.

Can anyone relate?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

What are the correct statistics?

[–]Creep2T3 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think my wording may have been bad, that happens a lot with me sorry.

I meant how - although it's true that women are killed regularly - men are killed more often. I think it's ridiculous to take an issue like violent crime that impacts men more and make it about women. That's what I meant by correct, not about the stat being wrong but just the context of it and how it compares to male victims of homicide.

I couldn't tell you exactly how many women are sexually harassed, but again I meant that the use of the stat is dumb because if people read about what is considered sexual harassment when they say "97% of women are sexually harassed" then people would stop saying it because all it does it make the phrase sexual harassment lose any meaning.

Tldr: the stats aren't necessarily wrong, just the way people interpret and use them. That's what I meant by wanting to correct people.

Sorry again about my poor wording.

[–]Rockbottom503 7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Are you sure that stat is right? I'm pretty certain that 4 men a day are killed which would make it 1 ever 6 hours whereas 1 woman every 3 days is killed. This is what always niggles me about jess phillips' getting up to read the names of the women killed in the past year on IWD; if someone did that for men there would be no time left for anything else.

[–]HPUnicorn 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's like the gender pay gap vs the workplace death gap. Each year the gender pay gap day is in April which is supposed to represent the day when women finally earn as much money as a man did last year, the workplace death gap for 2020 is sometime in 2022.

[–]Cyb3rd31ic_Citiz3n 13 points14 points15 points 5 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Yes, but that's men killing other men so it doesn't count.

No, don't look at female on male violance statistics! No, they're not increasing in line with better quality of services and lowering stigma! No, don't mention how lesbian domestic violance is the highest proportionally out of all the sexuality relationship dynamics!

Take for example this 97% statistic that's now flying about like a witch on a broomstick. Do you think even half of them have read the study that stat is from? Of course not - I've not even read it! Doesn't stop them misquoting it, regurgitating it through 'sharing' on social media, perpetuating lie after lie because its easily digestible mantras rather than complicated and nuanced information.

[–]Pacman124 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

People who say what i wrote above generally minimize the fact that because it's perpetrated by other men, it's somehow less valid than it would be if it was a woman. A man got assaulted by a another one? First reaction: "Yes but it's by another man"

It's the same thoughtprocess as "not all men" people spit out when a woman gets sexually harassed for instance. No sympathy at all for the victim.

Sure i'm pissed that men are the majority in acts like these. Those people in most cases have a rough past (criminals in poor neighbourhoods e.g). Telling them not to assault won't amount to anything in my opinion, like they care to begin with about how a man should behave accordingly. You're not going to tell a serial killer not to kill, you can't reason with them.

Now this dwells into the complex part of society, i'm by no means a professional, maybe what i think is completely wrong. Why men are in the majority? Because they grow up in circumstances where they don't care how they behave.

Instead of takling men's behaviour, we should trying to improve society as a whole where men can be better, because "men" sure as hell aren't the sole reason this world sucks (better social condition for everyone etc.). How you want to do that? welp

Using my country as an example, statistics show that outside the home men overwhelmingly kill men but in the home men overwhelmingly kill women. Imho those two types of murder shouldn't be merged together. Getting killed by someone you don't know is vastly different from getting killed by someone you know.

[–]masakothehumorless 6 points7 points8 points 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

[–]HPUnicorn 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

But is one 'worse' than the other because if you watch the news, you would sure think so AND can't we dismiss the inside the home because men spend more time with their wives/girlfriends compared to strangers so that negates this stat, like they do with 'mothers abuse more but mothers spend more time with children'.

[–]TheStumblingWolf 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

attractive women don’t face much danger in this world because they instinctively survive off the protection of men. Its fucking weird. Like you can watch a woman start bar fights between men and when it goes down they all hide behind the men and their testosterone. They cower in the face of aggression but can be the ultimate aggressors. Men are just expected to fight the wars and build the roads. Men are raised from birth to know their ass better be able to cash the checks their mouth is writing. If they dont' learn it, the world will teach it to them QUICK. Women NEVER learn this. women will run their mouths way into the danger zone, will throw drinks like they're some kind of movie character, throw punches because they expect/know someone will step in to protect them.

I couldn't count how many times I watched a drunk woman start a fight, get laid out, and sit there sobbing like they had no idea why this happened to them.

Anytime a woman is assaulted it is always described as being because she is a woman, yet anytime I come across a story about a woman killing her bf or husband it's never surprising to find out it involved some type of genital mutilation. There's the classic case of Sharon Osborn's daytime show laughing and applauding the story involving a woman chopping off her boyfriend's penis and throwing it in the trash. If a group of men are willing to attack a man for looking at them the wrong way yet don't attack women for the same reason, or when a woman attacks a man and people ask what he did and how he deserved it, I'm not sure how you could deny gender being a factor. This also is just all a really bad way of dismissing violence when you initially claim the issue is about violence and those effected. If a gay man preys on men it is never turned into men being targeted for being men, or a problem "down to the core" of homosexuality. It's just a bad man who preyed on people that fit his sexuality.

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points0 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Usually a woman would mutilate a man after they've been abused by him, the penis is the bit of a man that gives him "strength" (it's the only bit of anatomy that he has that a woman doesn't a "logo" of the patriarchy if you'd like) she's not doing it because he's a man but because he's an abuser due to the patriarchy. Also men do attack women ALOT so I don't really get your point

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points0 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Nope I'm just saying you trying to make the point men are somehow more oppressed than women because they kill each other is ridiculous, men are more aggressive due to centuries of societal conditioning telling them they're dominant over women men shooting and harming each other is just a display of the patriarchy I've been attacked had knives pulled on me never for being a man or by a woman though

[–]McFeely_Smackup 6 points7 points8 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Nope I'm just saying you trying to make the point men are somehow more oppressed than women because they kill each other is ridiculous

so to be clear, you're saying that being murdered is NOT a symptom of oppression?

[–]Cherub786-29 points 5 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

What do these stats say about the victims of homicide? I'm sure a lot more male victims of homicide were involved in criminal activity (gangs, drug trafficking), and the female victims of homicide are virtually all innocent and tragic deaths. Don't get me wrong, every homicide is a tragedy, but its natural to have more sympathy with a woman who was killed by her bitter ex-boyfriend than with some young Black guy who was killed in a gang related shootout, both sides shooting at each other, or the victim being killed as retaliation for him having killed someone else. "Live by the sword, die by the sword". I used to live in a very tough neighborhood in Toronto, near the infamous Jane & Finch area, and there was frequent news of young guys being shot and killed. They were almost always gang related.

Believe it or not, the highest homicide rates in the world are in Latin America and not the conflict ridden Middle East. Sub-Saharan Africa is pretty bad too. It's all gang related, drug cartels slaughtering their rivals.

yall realize every issue that Men suffer from stem down back to the basic hatred for women and what your experiencing; while difficult is a byproduct of misogyny? If you really cared about mens right you would fix the issues that Feminisms fights for since it too affects your life. Stop using the violence you suffer from the patriarchy as an excuse to dismiss women's experience. Most of the violence that affects men is based off a hatred for any feminine qualities/traits that the perpetrator sees as 'weak' or 'lesser than'. Fighting for Feminism is actually fighting for both Men and Women who are being hurt by the patriarchy. But since you also benefit most from the system you arnt ready to have that conversation yet I see.

I don’t think we would be where we are without feminism challenging gender expectations. There are many places all over the world that are extremely brutal and truly misogynistic. In the US, where I am, I don’t think this is the answer to male problems. That’s because of my experience of growing up as a guy. I think it’s time to look at gender inequality more holistically and that change can happen when both genders are allowed to express their opinions. Feminism does not allow me to speak so why would you think that I would see feminism as the answer to male problems?

[–]claudawgy -3 points-2 points-1 points 5 years ago* (9 children) | Copy Link

That seems like a overstatement to say the least. How does Feminism on a whole not allow you to speak? There is plenty of room at the table for everyone and that is the basis of feminism. That everyone deserves the right to be treated fairly. Just cause the word Fem is in the name doesnt make it a girls only club/issue just like its common sense that the words 'man-kind' doesnt mean all humans are male. Anyone who is uncomfortable with Feminism not having Male pronouns in the name are proving my exact point that society on a whole associates feminine things with being wrong. Males might feel 'silenced' or over shadowed in the world of feminism because this is one of the few areas in life where they are actually not benefiting the most like in our current system. Listen I understand its frustrating not feeling heard but I ask you to ask yourself how these totally valid feelings of frustration are only the tip of the iceburg of what women go through every single day in every single country when we are begging to be heard.

This is how interpret your response:

I hear you but I don’t believe you. If you took the time to reconsider and look at it from a woman’s perspective, I think you will change your mind.

And that is the same reaction played out on various different levels throughout every interaction with feminism. You think I want to be on this subreddit getting associated with it’s worse degenerates? No. It’s because I am not allowed to express a dissenting opinion in any feminist space.

[–]claudawgy -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Do not put words in my mouth. I never once said I dont believe you. Your feelings are completely valid. Your allowed to express a dissenting opinion in any space but that does not mean it has to be taken as gospel? I think viewing things from both perspectives is important and it seems like the only person who is having an issue with that is you? I understand how frustrating it is to not feel heard, its isolating and makes you want to scream and rip your hair out... But to your comment about this sub, you would rather be on this sub reddit with the "worse degenerates" who literally hate females than support an issue you supposedly care about but feel like your opinions arnt being heard?? sounds sus. If thats all it takes for you to jump ship and join this hateful club I question your stance on actually caring about feminist issues at all.

[–]wobernein 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I didn’t put words in your mouth. I literally said, this how I’m interpreting what you are saying.

You can say that you understand that it’s frustrating but you are still denying me my experience. Assuming that I expect my feelings to be taken as gospel is hand waving away the treatment I have received from feminists.

Here, I can speak my opinions and share my experiences, receive and offer support and downvote women haters which I don’t find often.

You can participate here and try and change people’s minds but I don’t think your going to have any success if you see these kinds of people as your enemy.

[–]claudawgy 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

There is no denial of your experience here and how is me using the word gospel waving away the treatment you have received from feminists? My point was that opinions are not fact and no one is obligated to hear your (mine or anyone elses) opinion on anything, if they dont want to. And bold of you to assume I see 'these kinds of people as my enemy' . I dont expect to change anyones mind on this issue but just like you im allowed to have opinions that you dont agree with... yall seem to hate hearing the other side, closed minded much? the irony loool

[–]DreamTheaterGuy 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Do you see the difference between the r/feminism and r/mensrights sub-reddits? You would have already been banned from the feminism sub-reddit, where mensrights welcome differing opinions.

[–]wobernein 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I’m trying to tell you feminism can be toxic and I’ve experienced it personally. Your hand waiving that experience by diminishing my agency. That I’m too sensitive with having people disagree with me and am too quick to judge. Even saying I probably don’t actually care about women’s issues.

Everyone is allowed to have their opinion but I told you about my experience. Your opinion since then has been your opinion about my experience, something I’m fairly sure you know nothing about. Forgive me if I am going to disagree and think your opinion about my experience is wrong.

[–]DreamTheaterGuy 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

There is plenty of room at the table for everyone and that is the basis of feminism.

You need to tell r/feminism that. See how quickly you get banned.

[–]claudawgy -2 points-1 points0 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

That doesnt make my point any less valid? Because one sub on one website has a FEW members who for reasons unknown dont feel comfortable having men so involved in an important issue that is caused BY men; doesnt mean feminism on a whole hates men and wants them gone. Like anything in life its never black or white, there will always be people disagreeing but feminism for me and millions of other women is welcoming to all genders and sexes because at the end of the day we ALL suffer from the patriarchy. So supporting groups like Men Rights only makes the divide worse and honestly just pushes more men away from the table which is the exact issue your raising about being heard. Feminism is not a threat to your well being and never will be and if anyone feels that way its because they either speak from a place of privilege and are benefitting from the current system or they havent done enough research into what Feminsim is and what its fighting for because it takes no rights away from Men and silences no one

[–]DreamTheaterGuy 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It does. r/feminism is just one place of many in feminism where men's voices are not welcome. That is unless they agree entirely with the feminist ideology. I have tried in many places to have discussions, but they always devolve into hysterical screeching, "mansplaining," etc. Feminists are really good at gaslighting and silencing voices they don't want to hear.

[–]claudawgy -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

[–]Upper-Organization35 5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Accept that's exactly what feminism is, a movement to help women. That's how it always was. That's why a movement to help both men and women is called egalitarian.

[–]claudawgy -2 points-1 points0 points 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Feminism is a movement to help both not just women? and regardless whether you believe it or not feminism literally benefits men in the exact same way as women. Feminism = egalitarian and trying to rename it by removing the Fem aspect of the name and changing it to egalitarian is a pointless move that just proves this was never about women being equal. Its about squashing any sort of celebration of feminine energy and interpreting it as threat to males.. when its not. Fem in the name doesnt make males any less valid but it does represent a group of people who are victims of the patriarchy and trying to dismantle it. Similar to BlackLiveMatter that represents all lives, its just a fucking name people

[–]Upper-Organization35 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This why I said feminism only helps women. Why do they focus on victims of patriarchy so much? Patriarchy just means "male in charge" meaning they view men, especially those in high positions, as the enemy. So egalitarians are named as such to remove themselves from feminism. And no, BLM does not represent all lives. They don't even give a damn about black people? What black neighborhoods did they give money to? Back owned businesses? Schools? They only come out and march when a black man gets shot by police, but they don't make any positive changes. These people may say they want equality for all, but their actions mainly say otherwise.

Feminism only benefits women. Not men and women. Maybe it did years ago but that's changed. When someone tries to get something right done for men, feminist always find a way to spin it into a woman's issue, often using men in any way, shape, or form as the root of the problem. When they empower women, they disempower men. That's the pattern I've noticed.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

If it's just a name, why do you cling to it instead of adopting egalitarianism?

[–]claudawgy 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

oh thats an easy one.

'Egalitarianism was first visible on a vast scale when “Liberté, égalité, fraternité” or “Liberty, equality, brotherhood” became an official slogan of the French government. In August 1789, with the Déclaration des droits de l’homme et du citoyen (Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen), the French Constitution got framed around the basis in equal rights of men, but not of women. Even today, after almost 230 years, the French constitutional provisions of ‘rights of man’ are still given higher value in French constitutional court interpretations granting certain rights to men and not to women.

The same can be seen in the United States Declaration of Independence – July 1776, where an assertion of equality for men, but not of women, under Natural Rights – contingent upon the laws, customs, or beliefs of any particular culture or government, and therefore universal and inalienable (cannot be abandoned, restrained nor repealed by human laws). Making Egalitarianism a concept to be enjoyed by men – and men alone.

With various constitutions all over the world, having an interpretation of equality based mostly on Natural Laws – thus strengthening “masculinity” and “brotherhood” – women were treated less than human. Feminism is asking for a balance in these scales of corrupted “equality”, so to use ‘fem’ in the ‘ism’, is to give females the boost that they have been lacking for centuries throughout innumerable cultures. Therefore, Humanism is something entirely different than standing up for all human equality and rights – especially rights for female equality. This is why it’s called Feminism and not Humanism.

However, by wanting to change the term “feminism” mainly because you are afraid to identify under a movement led mainly by women for the rights of women and everyone else, essentially says: a) You have no idea about feminism, b) You care more about the semantics than the history of discrimination, oppression, dejection of females all around the world that led to this movement, and c) You do not hesitate to humiliate the actions of countless females who fought and are still fighting

[–]Langland88 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm sorry but there is one flaw to your argument. According to the dictionary, egalitarian means "asserting, resulting from, or characterized by belief in the equality of ALL people, especially in political, economic, or social life." Here is a link below. So Egalitarians actually do care about women contrary to your popular belief. Yes the Egalitarian subreddits talk about men's issues a lot because no one else will. The Feminists subs never want to talk about men's issues. And honestly I feel the modern Feminist movement has been tainted and corrupted but Radicals and you all are so blind to it either that or you play the No True Scotsman fallacy. I'm sorry but Feminism has lost their way. Also whenever you fight something like say voting rights or maybe equal opportunity in employment and equality there, you then move the goal post all the time. You Feminists are never going to be happy. It seems like you get a victory only to find a new problem to complain about. Men right now have a lot of issues that are overlooked and you default to a stupid Patriarchy argument. That's also what separates Egalitarians from Feminists, they don't believe in this Patriarchy nonsense.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You say this an easy answer, but this is rehearsed nonsense where feminists view women only through the lense of being victims, and they see women as victims perpetually.

Old time language when referring to everyone used the term 'man' or 'mankind' or 'men'. It's done today. You think Neil Armstrong only was referring to men when he said 'One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.'?

No doubt women had fewer rights, but both men and women were roughly in the shitty boat until technology increased to the point where women's rights movements were even possible. When women's rights became a thing, they only focused on women's rights, not that there is anything wrong with that. As time went on, feminism insisted it was an equality movement when it clearly was only a women's rights movement, and insisted it was the only legit equality movement.

As it stands today, it is still only a woman's rights movement and feminists are very antithetical to any men's rights movement, and feminists insist that women are still oppressed peasants from the 1500s with no thought to how much progress actually has been made.

You still use documents written hundreds of years ago that have neutral language for humans as your evidence why you cling to the term 'feminism'. Our constitution uses thr term 'people'. How can you insist that excludes women? Are women not people?

Egalitarianism does stand for both genders, why would you assume it doesn't?

I'm not afraid of being identified as a feminist. That is childish shaming language used to shut me up. Why are you afraid of a label that advocates for both men and women? See I can do the same thing.

Your three options reek of a person who completely fails to see points of view other than your tiny echo chamber.

A women's movement who is ok with other movements to coexist and works to find balance in rights between men and women? I am 10000% supportive of that.

A self righteous women's movement that is hostile to any other equality movement and insists that women are perpetual victims, despite evidence to the contrary? Hard pass.

One female is killed every 2.5 days; one male is killed every 18 hours. The female is a tragedy; the male is expendable.

Sorry, what gender killed the woman and what gender killed the man?

Yes, teach men to stop killing and more people will live. The reason why the women's is a tragedy is because most of the time we dont even have the chance to fight back and even if we did, we are fighting against the odd's.

Teach men to stop killing each other and women and things will you get better for you as well as us.

You can't teach somebody to not commit crimes. Murderers are either so mentally detached it wouldn't matter or they have already accepted the fact that they are breaking the law and view the consequences as worth their goal of killing. Telling them, "don't kill that person," does worse than nothing because at least if you do nothing people think the problem still exists and is that it needs to be addressed.

In Mexico you are 800% more likely to be murdered as a man, than as a woman. There’s a huge violent movement by feminists that blame men for this, as well as the government. I’m all for fighting against the corrupt mexican government and making the country safer, but the fact that the feminist movement is intoxicating such action with misandry and destruction of private property (they have trashed multiple stores from people who aren’t involved and have no blame on this) bothers me a lot. Everyone is so brainwashed that if you dare to disagree or recognize male human rights you are going to get attacked by everyone young person you know.
