I agree with her on the misconceptions about foreign women. I'm EE, lived in China for 5 years, and if you're going into any big city, a sizeable chunk (if not most) of the women there are educated, have their own jobs, and have been dealing with their shitty dudes since they started growing tits, so it's not like they're some dumbasses that can't tell when a guy is trying to pull one over on them. That being said, the men who go on and on about the submissive, delicate, inexperienced women they seek, often go after that type of woman, not your average EE/SEA woman with a degree and a solid job.

There's also a discussion to be had about the distinction between passport bros, obnoxious sex pest tourists, and people who moved to place X and just hit it off with a local. The sex pests are universally reviled, I've rarely met passport bros who didn't have a giant ''woman from my country''-shaped chip on their shoulder that they would bring up all the time but I've met some okay ones, and I have a few friends who moved to China to work or study, and met someone they liked while they were going about their life there. My husband is Canadian, he moved to make some extra cash, ended up meeting me.

Aside from that, why would I have any opinion on adult women making the decisions that they feel are in their best interests based on their circumstances and talking about those decisions?

Nothing wrong with passport bros, they want traditional women and find that hard to find in the west so they go abroad. The foreign girls are more then happy to get with them as they also get a much better life so really what is the issue here? Relationships are transactional, sure passport bros may have a relationship that is more transactional then tbe average, but if both parties are happy with the benefits they get from each other what is the problem?

I don’t think she’s completely defending passport bros, she’s calling out potential misconceptions some have. No woman can be truly controlled but some have this notion that everything that makes dating difficult is about western culture/freedom and not just that they are not objectively good matches. If a man is broke, he is just being the idea of a beta bux with more steps because a “higher quality woman” would not be content with his lack of tangible success.

I think men who want the idea of submissiveness are fetishizing what they believe is a culture where they will have control rather than a race. I think they’ll find that the idea they had was not true.

I've seen videos on Instagram and tiktok of self proclaimed passport bros, in my opinion they can go ahead and do whatever they want. They're not the type of men I would even notice if you paid me to. Good riddance, enjoy getting roofied in Bogota. For the women who support it, sex work is the oldest job on the planet girl you didn't invent the wheel. Go ahead and do whatever you want. I'm glad someone is willing to fuck these guys, cause I'm definitely not.

In my experience, passport bros were men who had a very low opinion of women in their own country and went to another one because they expected to be more accepted in a foreign country. Many of them had traditional views of women that tend to be more welcome in traditional countries. I had no desire to date men like these, but if a women who were fully aware of what was going on still wanted to, that was their problem.

I think she should share this video with the passport bros. I work in a community which is heavily Asian and the women are not submissive nor weak. They push their husbands around and are tough as nails. I don’t know why she doesn’t inform the men about this. They all married high earning men. One lady owns a Tesla and the newest pink iPhone, and the other has a collection of luxury handbags. Another lady is making her husband buy a second house so that each of their 2 kids can inherit a house after they die. And the houses in our area are like $1.5 million. They aren’t doing this on the salary from my job (we are coworkers), that’s for sure. I don’t think any of the men here on Reddit can hold a candle to these husbands, but they have this notion that somehow they are superior for being western.

She has valid points, but I also don't see TikTok as the right medium for any kind of nuanced discourse on this topic. She ultimately comes across as a catty person who likes to engage in drama with other catty people. Some of the things she says are also outright wrong, such as insinuating that only wealthy Americans travel abroad or have passports. That is as much of a reach as the point she is arguing with ("passport bros are broke").

Through college I've been one of the random black women in multiple predominantly Asian friend groups, including international/exchange students. I say "Asian" broadly because we're talking Japan, China, South Korea, Nepal, Singapore, India, Thailand, Cambodia, etc. I have also lived abroad in Japan more than once. Many of our foreign language instructors came to the U.S. after marrying American faculty members. So yes I literally have international dating/marriage to thank for being able to learn Japanese in undergrad.

Imo, there's plenty of ignorance on both sides of the "passport bro" debate. It's ironic when passport bros/women who support the movement call out women who don't like it for assumptions like "submissive" or "uneducated." People, the call is coming from inside the house. Many PPB outright blame education and economic independence for corrupting Western women and making them disagreeable. The assumptions are racist and demeaning regardless of who makes them. Wanting to bang the women you're making the assumptions about doesn't make you less racist.

Passport bros is just a catchy rebranding of sex pattery. It is nothing new.

And in 10-15 years neither Mexico or Thailand will be poor enough for that anymore. East Asia already isn't.

She got her meal ticket. To support her family. And a lot of these women (such as from Vietnam, but probably also the Philippines) are former prostitutes. They often do it for their family; sometimes it's even their own uncles duty to take them to the red districts; but then it makes them unmarriageable. But they are definitely not "traditional." Any Asian person can tell you no "traditional" woman is going to be dating or having casual sex with a foreigner.
