I'm going through a divorce and was always on this trip with my STBX. I just qualified for my 3rd time. I'm rolling solo and am planning on having a good time. Bro… 100% you must go. I’m likely to take a solo trip to CR just because I enjoy travel. One of my rules during divorce was if someone asks something and it’s not against my morals, etc. then it’s a yes from me. You’ll have an hour or so of awkwardness followed by a great time. Go! Take up a hobby, something that will keep you occupied and out. My best trips were solo, I scuba dive so I book enough dives to keep me busy. More importantly a group of divers always "adopts me" when they find out I an solo (they are a group so a mix of married and solo people). It never disappoints.

Oh and apparently I am quiet fun to be around when I don't have a wife in tow.

Congrats on winning this work trip! I say you should go its rare to get an all expense paid trip. Yes its going to suck seeing your coworkers with spouses, and also other couples at the resort BUT its an opportunity for you to meet someone if you want that and make new memories. You'd be a fool to pass up this opportunity. Everyone is bringing spouses just means you should get to know the locals. In the Army I got to travel a bit and my favorite thing to do was go get lost by myself (which was very much against the standing orders but whatever). I remember a few nights in Thailand where I'd end up hanging out with locals a few towns over and would drag in at dawn. Those adventures were very exciting. Here's a chance for you to have an adventure. GO!!!!!
