Generally it’s a combo but your worst feature will pull you down. Ideally you need to be:

At least average height 5’9+
Reasonably symmetrical & attractive face
Low body fat %
Reasonable teeth/dental hygiene
Confident
Financially successful

Most guys can be a top 20% with an average face but jacked and low body fat. Most guys are overweight so this factor alone is the big differentiator for 70-80% of guys.

Low body fat alone will never get you into that Chad Lite category (top 10%) but it’s generally enough to make you attractive to most women.

OK, let me explain. 20/80 comes from Pareto's principe and in this context is a form of describing "winners take all" market. What's exactly is top 20% of perceived men SMV is unmesurable - you can only estimate it.

Women's preferences are roughly the same, but if you want to be precise, then you will be met with personal preferences that not only vary from woman to woman, but her own preferences changes as she ages. One woman can care a bit more about height, other about face, another about status etc. Even women themselves cannot definitively tell if a man is attractive to them or not, that's why they relly so hard on preselection that really amplifies perceived SMV. Thinking there is a checklist of traits that needs to be fullfiled to be a HVM is childish.

Is one being subpar enough to be a deal breaker?

Yes (to a specific woman) and no (for all women). You know Peter Dinklage, right? He is an ugly litteral dwarf, yet he has decently looking younger wife. "Just be a Hollywood-tier actor bro~"... sorry, but extreme disadvantages require extreme compensation, and for many women his phisicality would be a deal breaker anyway.

subpar would imply you're at the 50% mark or less, so if you're subpar looking then you're objectively not top 20%

Don't believe in this rule? LMAO... That's like saying you don't believe in gravity. As to the top, there's no one specific set of traits. We know women find 80% of men below average, and 5% of men are having roughly 50% of sex being had, but Jonny Depp is pretty far from Tom Brady or Chris McGraw. Rough rule, it's looks, status and money, but a cash poor thug rich with cocaine might score more than a trust fund gym bro.

Also, keep in mind that 80:20 is in relation to breeding, not marriage. Plenty of women take beta bux to the alter for future cucking or divorce rape, but aren't interested in him, just want the ATM.
