I haven't noticed them having high looks standards to be honest, but perhaps high standards for personality type, values, compatible sociosexuality and lifestyle etc.

Your theory could still be correct though as we might just be thinking of different kinds of guys, maybe even from different generations.

Because outgoing confident men who work decent jobs, so they can afford nice clothes, think that inflates their value. So then they compare themselves to very attractive women, hence the mismatch.

Tbh, I know that I have a good SMV. But I am not the kind of guy who go for a girl just because she is attractive. She is a partner for life so beauty isn't as important as that. What matter is compatibility

This kind of makes sense though. These men sound pretty close to "top tier" guys. Maybe it does feel weird go out with what I'm assuming is average women you're pointing them in the direction of?

I actually thought it was more common for (more desirable) men to just keep average women around as "situationships" until they could land the show-stoppers. Maybe it's good that they're holding out for what they think they deserve.

I say it makes sense though, because dating markets currently seem heavily tilted in favor of women. So it might track that good looking men need to look to more average women, and accept that the very top men are always going to corner the market on the upper block of attractive women.

Some men elevate their standards with porn and instagram. It’s a real issue, some guys turn into simps for women winning in the attention economy online, rather than having a real relationship that will make them happy.

There’s a whole lot of guys, that won’t accept a girl who other guys think are mid. I would argue that women who date around are worse, but are similar issues and both not uncommon.

I'm starting to think that they have just elevated their standards to such a high level (whether due to porn or any other reason), that they see even clearly above average girls as not good enough. Women do this infinitely more than men do. Women are the ones who say most men are unattractive/ugly and only swipe one like 5% of guys. The average women has standards that are way higher than the average man. Men arent rejecting women left and right to hold out for a top girl. Stop pushing this narrative. Its closer to what women do actually. Most guys who say they have low smv are accurate in their assessment and arent delusional

I mean, people have different standards on what is below, average, or above based on their personal tastes for what is attractive. An above-average person to me might not be to you. Similarly, your friends may think the women you find above average aren't. It is what it is. But, it's also true tons of dudes chase the same kind of top-tier women.

All that said, I disagree with the framing of the title a bit. If your friends have what we might define as extremely high standards they also intrinsically believe that their "SMV" is high, even if they might say otherwise.

One of the biggest things I’ve noticed here on PPD is that if you ask any pill popper “how does one get their SMV score? How’s it rated? Where can we get this value so we know what it is?”

Still haven’t gotten a straight answer on it.

Ok, how tall? how fit? smart is not a factor in attractio, there's in fact a negative correlation. How succesful? What kind of personality?

How do you know that there's a genuine interest? how do you know that the reason that it goes nowhere is because the woman got attention from someone beyond her league?

Honestly the "low SMV" people their biggest issue is their self esteem issues. Not so much about standards being too high.

It's bitter seething resentment. So they self sabotage and ruin their chances at finding a decent person. They are so blinded with self hatred because their "jaw isn't at a perfect 45 degree angle" they "are not 6'2" the horror. They don't have a healthy relationship with themselves so they aren't going to have healthy and productive dating lives. They are going to put too much worth into it, and that's a big ask to validate your worth. Instead of actually trying to gauge compatibility and connection it's this person needs to choose me!!! This needs to happen
