Cabin is a great idea. That is what I did. I found the perfect cabin on a river only about an hour out of town on airbnb but in a really secluded area. Great for alone time to reset while you are going through this. And a great spot to take new dates for weekend long sex when that time comes. I go to it every 3 months or so now for a long weekend.

A couple weeks ago I went for a hike with a few friends around the lake in our local state park. It was lovely. I barely had reception but rarely checked my phone. I’m still living off of the battery recharge of that day. We were out there for about 4 hours. Not sure exactly where you’re located, but if the weather is decent this weekend I highly recommend it. Just turn your phone on do not disturb or throw it in your backpack so it’s not in your hand, and get out in the fresh air for a few hours. It’s what our bodies and brains were designed for, but we don’t do it as often as we should.

I like the idea of a cabin in the Great Smokies but I'd try to get it with cell service, just in case your kids have an emergency. If you had no kids, then cabin and no cell service. Dec in Gatlinburg?? Better bring a lot of blankets. I used to live in the late 70s outside of Clarksville, so yes it can get cold.

Right after my wife and I separated, I needed a retreat too, but I didn’t want to go too far or spend much money. I went to a local monetary for 5 days. I slept, prayed/meditated, and relaxed. It might not be your thing, but hanging out with the monks was just what I needed. (And I’m not even catholic.)

There’s a place on the Atlantic side of Costa Rica. Takes a couple hours drive via bus or taxi to get there from San Jose, where you will fly in. It’s just a beach with some two-story thatched huts and a couple of restaurants and bars that are open air with open fire pits for cooking the food right in front of you.

Even just a weekend will change your perspective, but if you can swing at least a week, I guarantee you that your approach to life will shift in a positive way. The place is called Samara Beach. You don’t have to be fluent in Spanish, but it helps. Also, you really have to be tolerant of Bob Marley and the reggae genre because it is playing constantly.

Yeah dude heck out the area round AshevillehighlandNorthCarolinaand thereabouts. I did a rentalRVand drove out west. Took my dogs and a bunch of books. Also met up with some friends to do a bird hunt in the middle of the journey. Best of luck!!

Mexico. Some end of the road fishing village or just dial in the cheapest destinations from my nearest airport. Sit in the sun and drink cheap beers. Be alone if I want. Busses are good, people friendly. Ayer empaqué y fui para siempre. Even duolingo tells me I should. Airfare to Ecuador isn’t bad, and they have ayahuasca retreats.

You may like Panama. Some will speak English, usually great weather, nice waterfront locations, reasonably priced, good food, safe. Country benefits from the shipping traffic and jobs, as well as only a northern and southern border, protected by ocean on all sides.
