I don’t think some women know how meaningful genuine love and affection can soothe and help their partner. I can recall the last time I felt genuine affection from a partner and it was as if the issues I was dealing with in that moment melted away. It doesn’t even need to be sex. Just that acknowledgment of seeing me and wanting to be present with me.

But if maybe that isn’t their way of showing affection then it just is more so a compatibility issue.

I think getting physical affection from the homies is also a great idea of something to promote in male spaces. Growing up I had such an aversion to showing affection from my guy friends because of homophobia and I admire how younger generations are free from that stigma compared to older guys.

Physical touch is a human need (with some exceptions) and relying solely on partners to fulfill it ends up being harmful to men.

I agree that it makes a Man happy. What I will disagree with is the notion that it's the ONLY thing that does that. That much is provably inaccurate. What makes most Men happiest is to find and execute a PURPOSE in life, to have a mission, and to pursue it with confidence as well as competence. Then, add to that potential marriage and Fatherhood, and you have a powerful mix for a great many Men.

I read up and apparently its not uncommon for the first three months. I see how bad its affecting my boyfriend and I feel terrible for him. It doesn't matter if it's from a partner or not. Physical intimacy is healing for the body and mind period. But you have laws that treat consenting adults who transact it worse than muggers or murderers, even though it's transacted in countless ways.

This makes me sad because for me, I want REAL connection, not just to feel I am being used for my body to make you feel good. Men need to learn healthy, holistic ways to self-sooth and show themselves self care! Well... yeah. Physical connection like that is basically necessary for human mental health, and SERIOUSLY lacking among Western (especially American) men.

And while the article did mention it, I want to say again to reemphasize: this isn't just sexual affection. That's great and all, but "physical intimacy" is a MUCH broader category, and this is yet another area in which euphemisms threaten to doom us all.

A note to the women out there: this problem is not your fault; it's true that you didn't reform society to deny men the critical physical contact that they need. It's also true, however, that you can help fix it. Not every man is going to like physical contact, especially if it's unexpected, but a little clear communication and compassion can do him a world of good- and you, as well.

Life can be a wearying, draining thing in a lot of different ways, and you're probably your man's only (or almost only) source of this good stuff. A hug, a pat on the shoulder, or even just affectionately running your hands through his hair can easily make his day.

But it's a problem if you're the happies when receiving female affection.

I love women and I will keep dating as many as I desire for as long as I desire.
