Men don't understand how many options women have. Women don't understand how taxing it is on men to be forced to initiate everything with women.

[–]HossMcDankEdgy Centrist5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I think we (men) have a pretty good idea how many options women have, but then they tell us that they really don't have that many.

[–]MakeMoneyNotWar2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

We know how many options women have. But we don't truly understand without experiencing it ourselves. Kind of like I know rich people have options, but won't truly understand without being rich myself.

[–]truemalefeminist0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

An option to a man is any women between 1-10. An option to a woman is a man between 8-10.

[–]Pope_LuciousSeparating the wheat from the hoes4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Women don’t have options that women want.

[–]DareyFathom1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Many men don't have any options. And the ones men do have only come from their direct effort in acquiring them.

[–]Five_DecadesKnows what women want. Knows he doesn't have it1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think to a degree, men don't have options they want too.

If a guy is a 4, he can probably get sex and dates with women who are 1s and 2s. But he doesn't want them.

[–]Five_DecadesKnows what women want. Knows he doesn't have it1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Define options.

Women have options for sex, yes. But generally women do not want one night stands or to be a plate.

Do women have a ton of options for quality relationships? If so, why are so many women single?

Just because a woman can get sex doesn't mean she can get a guy who is loyal and who invests in her emotionally and financially.

Yes we def understand how many options you have. We don't understand why you don't wisen up to the half life of your hot steak before it ends.

Women don't understand that having another man's child is a turn off

[–]waxedmintfloss23 points24 points25 points 8 years ago (131 children) | Copy Link

Men don't understand it either! At least most single moms with self awareness know that it affects their dating chances.

But a lot of fathers seem to think it's endearing to women!

Nah dude, even if I don't have the biological jealousy about someone else's seed, I still don't see it as a good sign that you spawned without getting it right the first time, and I definitely don't want to care for your child or play tug of war over you with a baby mama.

[–]rainisthelifeFacepalm 😑16 points17 points18 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I was reading some RP advice sub where there was a woman that was going back and forth on whether to date a single dad and she was asking for advice. Some guy told her that him being a single dad was actually a “green flag” because apparently single dads “suffer so much” and that him being a single parent actually made him a better choice than other men. Lmao! I laughed so hard. Men have officially become crazy. Lol no one wants to deal with your bastard children and years of baggage.

[–]waxedmintfloss10 points11 points12 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Totally. I dated a couple single fathers before reaching an age where I probably could have reached the same conclusion through logic alone.

Why men get props for showing up to parent at all is an entirely different discussion... But as far as concerns us, why would it be any more desirable for a woman to date a father than for a man to date a mother? The only possible difference I can see is if because the father has less of a role taking responsibility for their spawn but that... does not reflect well on anyone in the situation.

[–]decoy88Black Male in London1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

why would it be any more desirable for a woman to date a father than for a man to date a mother?

Because penis, duh

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (52 children) | Copy Link

Well he made a huge mistake but you will look better by comparison. Especially if he got full custody, then the mom is probably awful and he is more than willing to be an involved dad. You can swoop in and be the wife and mother that family needs, no pregnancy required.

[–]Atlas_B_Shruggin🔪Yeetus that Feetus🔪19 points20 points21 points 8 years ago (32 children) | Copy Link

and why would anyone want that who had options?

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (31 children) | Copy Link

Because it's hard to find good fathers and men who want to have children. If he already has children and is a good father, then he has a proven track record.

[–]DareyFathom16 points17 points18 points 8 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

Having children from a previous relationship is going to be viewed as negative baggage by most people.

[–]poppy_bluAARP sent me a birthday card0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

People who say this are usually young. I used to say this myself when I was in my 20s “I’ll never date a guy with kids.” Then you grow up and everyone around you has kids.

I hope you never find yourself single in your 40s. If children are a no go you’ll be spending a lot of nights at home alone.

[–]M4sterDis4ster6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Yes, good advice. "Lower your standards."

[–]poppy_bluAARP sent me a birthday card0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Don’t lower your standards. I don’t really care. But the reality is if youre still dating in your 40s most people in your dating pool will have kids. Because the vast majority of people by 40 have kids.

Or you know just be the guy who thinks he’ll wake up at 40 and 19 year old models will be lining up to date him. Any day now.

[–]M4sterDis4ster2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

In comment before you stated that when you were 20 , you had wider type of men to date ( childless ) and you could choose. Now you are 40+ and you "have" to date men with kids, because there are none left.

It is lowering your standards.

I dont have to be the guy at the age of 40, as I will be 25 in a week. 19 year old models still work for me.

[–]DareyFathom2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I'm 34. It's far better to be unattached in your 40s than involved in a relationship that detracts from your quality of life- which is very likely if involved with someone with children from a previous relationship.

[–]poppy_bluAARP sent me a birthday card0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Still young enough that a decent portion of the people you associate with don’t have kids. At 34 you can still with minimal effort avoid parents in the dating pool.

That won’t be true in 10 years

[–]nineworldseries2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I'm male, single, 39, refuse to date or consort with women who have already reproduced, and I spend zero nights at home alone, unless completely by choice.

[–]poppy_bluAARP sent me a birthday card0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

And here comes the anonymous outlier to tell us the rule isnt true because he’s the exception.

Do most people in your peer group have kids? By peer group I mean do most of the people you associate with socially and professionally have children?

[–]nineworldseries2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Nope. I'm an academic, I live in a progressive city, and most people I know aren't popping out children left and right.

Yeah. In my scenario I am imagining a drug addicted mother that ran away with some musician Chad while abandoning her poor devoted husband and his kids. The kids cry every night for a mom and the dad is so stressed and lonely. He can't even cook for himself because he doesn't know how. And then I come into the picture like an angel from heaven and make their family complete. The kids love me and the guy can't believe what a good wife and mother I am. (narcissistic fantasy I know)

Why don't guys have this fantasy?

[–]rainisthelifeFacepalm 😑1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They do. Some guys want to be a single mothers’ savior provider, and fantasize about how grateful and appreciative she would be that he’s providing for her and her children. Other men hate this and call these kind of men “white knights” and “Captain save a slut”.

[–]hammerhauntsbread pill0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Why don't guys have this fantasy?

They see the (presumed deadbeat ) father as a genetic problem and the kids as an extension of that.

[–]rainisthelifeFacepalm 😑0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Most men that have children from previous marriages, especially if the children are older, usually don’t want any more children because they’ve “been there, done that”, and now don’t want to start all over again.

[–]MercedesBenzoAMGbringing percocets molly percocet back to ppd0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Can't blame 'em, seems sensible to me. Just blindly having kids with any new woman you date would be low FTO.

[–]waxedmintfloss3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Lol my dating strategy doesn't include being better in comparison to someone else who's always going to be in the picture in some capacity.

And also if I had any desire to be a mother to a kid who I didn't birth, I would adopt so at least I could raise them from the start.

[–]reluctantly_red1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

I would adopt so at least I could raise them from the start.

You don't seem to understand how adoption works. Most kids available for adoption are not infants. You don't get to raise them from the start. Indeed you will have to spend a lot of time and effort dealing with previous shitty parenting.

[–]waxedmintfloss2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

That's a bold assertion; it's not like I made any sweeping statements about the adoption industry as a whole.

I maintain that even if I adopted I would choose a situation where I could be the main maternal influence in the child's memory. It is by no means impossible to adopt a toddler or younger.

Nevertheless, neither I nor my female relatives have had any fertility setbacks or abnormal "women's troubles," so as I originally stated if I want a child I will probably conceive and birth it myself.

[–]reluctantly_red4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

My oldest daughter places children for a large California county. The vast majority of babies need to be placed because they were drug exposed. Older kids were usually at least neglected if not down right abused. Placements are first as foster children. It can takes several years for parental rights to be terminated which has to happen before the child can be adopted.

It can still be rewarding. My daughter is adopting her teenage foster daughter in less than two weeks.

[–]waxedmintfloss1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's awesome she does that work.

Truth be told, I'm not opposed to fostering. Raising a human from scratch though is still an experience I'd like to have. This is getting deeper than it needs to be, especially in a trigger happy forum like this one, but both experiences are ones that would appeal to me if I ever consider myself mature enough for such an undertaking.

[–]poppy_bluAARP sent me a birthday card1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That’s great

[–]MercedesBenzoAMGbringing percocets molly percocet back to ppd1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Good on her.

When people ask me "what if I change my mind?" wrt not wanting kids I always say I'll adopt. I'd rather help an existing child who needs a home than make a new one when the world is full of children who have no home already.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

Why would you want to play mother to kids who aren't yours?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Kids are kids. What does it matter if they are yours or not?

[–]Wandos7naproxen sodium3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Because you'll be the stepmom. And kids always hate the stepmom unless their own mother was a horrific human being.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Because genetics

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

[–]the_calibre_cat0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]rainisthelifeFacepalm 😑4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Ew no. There’s a huge difference between kids that are yours and kids that aren’t. There’s a reason why adopted children, even ones that are happy in their adopted families, always want to find their biological parents and connect with them. Genetics and blood lines are very powerful things.

[–]decoy88Black Male in London2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

That's a social thing because society places so much importance on blood lines. Even though in reality, it means very little.

[–]rainisthelifeFacepalm 😑0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

How exactly do you think society is influencing a 9yo girl to what to seek who her real parents are?

Rationally, it means very little (unless you need family history for a medical condition) but instincts are always there and the natural drive to see where you came from and “where you belong” is always there.

[–]decoy88Black Male in London1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The importance people put on bloodlines.

At school: "Is it your real mum!?" "But that's not your real brother! Haha",

Every tv show and film where adopted children goes on self-discovery to trace their bloodline.

There are other examples of course. But this shit permeates everything. Most of don't notice it because we have biological parents until we're faced with an opposing narrative to that supposed normality. We take it for granted. So when introduced to 'adopted' we have questions and uninformed opinions that push the 'adopted' person to want to find out more.

[–][deleted] -5 points-4 points-3 points 8 years ago (74 children) | Copy Link

Fixed what? Women will still be more interested in single dads than the reverse.

Luckily for us women, we don't have to choose between either single mothers or single fathers. In fact, most of us aren't interested in women in general, so the relative attraction between the two doesn't really matter. Point is, single dad versus single, childless man is pretty easy to pick. The childless man, ten out of ten times.

Also, note your silence on mybxlaim about single moms.

Silence because I have nothing to say. Single moms also aren't good partner prospects, I'm not going to deny that.

That single moms aren’t good prospects

[–]MercedesBenzoAMGbringing percocets molly percocet back to ppd1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Shitloads of baggage, having to raise the kids, playing second fiddle to them in your personal relationship (not that it isn't right to put your kids first, but that doesn't mean it's ideal situation for a romantic partner).

What would you choose, a brand new car or an unreliable 10 year old one that's leaking oil everywhere and needs a lot of extra maintenance?

[–]TheChemist158Non-Feminist Blue Pill Woman1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

  • Having a phase in a relationship to be a couple without kids is great.

  • The father is likely to be a source of bullshit

  • Kids in general suck

[–]decoy88Black Male in London0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

They likely have ties to the father that can be unhealthy. Not saying it can't be navigated well, but it's just easier to not have to deal with it.

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points0 points 8 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

Stop it. My point was to argue that being a single father and looking to get with childless women isn't being as oblivious as the reverse.

[–]TheChemist158Non-Feminist Blue Pill Woman4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

I think women understand this. But they can’t always help it...and many men seem to still date and marry these women anyway. Good men who love the woman will take care of another man’s child as if it were his own - and many do.

[–]EqualinaPurple Pill Woman2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Some are. I haven’t known any personally, but I have heard of men marrying a woman who has a child from a previous relationship and then they go on to have children together. That first child is not made to feel like he/she is not as important to the father as his biological children - though maybe in his mind they are.

It’s like people who adopt, when it comes down to it. Adopted children are not biologically yours but hopefully they are loved and treated just the same as if they were. Men are capable of doing this with another man’s children, surely - and I think that’s a ‘good’ thing to do and therefore he is a ’good’ man for being able to put his jealousy aside and be better than that.

[–]wtknightHardcore Romantic15 points16 points17 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I think that both genders misunderstand how much their individual personalities can vary. I see it from both men and women. Men tend to think these days that either all women actually want casual sex with Chads, or that all women are wonderful beings that would never mistreat them. Women tend to think that all men are either potential sex criminals, or that all men are just like them and want to settle down into monogamous dream relationships. Instead, both men and women vary greatly and should be judged on an individual basis without having to use some template to prejudge them.

[–]poppy_bluAARP sent me a birthday card5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

glad this was insightful.

[–]EqualinaPurple Pill Woman6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Agreed with all of this.

I don’t get the stereotype of women being fragile. Logically it doesn’t make much sense and also in my experience, men are as emotionally fragile (if not more so than women in many cases I know of) they are just less expressive of those emotions and that seems stronger.

I would say that I also talk more openly when I’m not face to face - it’s just less confronting. I was raised to be very stoic in public or with people not in my close family circle, which I think is something men are normally socialized more towards than women.

[–]decoy88Black Male in London1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

Really depends how you grew up. Since I've seen very strong and tough women it's hard to buy the narrative that women are fragile or more vulnerable by nature. Many women like to claim this as well as a type of learned helplessness but it just pisses me off.

[–]EqualinaPurple Pill Woman0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes, women do that sometimes - playing the innocent to get out of responsibilities. It’s not ok.

But I was weirdly raised to be both publicly stoic and tough but also passive, pandering to others (men especially) and sensitive. It’s a weird dichotomy and I think quite a few women grew up with this mix of toughness and an expectation of putting the needs and wants of others ahead of our own. It’s made it hard for me to have clearly defined boundaries between what I really want and my desire to please others and be seen as nice and easy going. This is where I think women can get mixed up in their sexual signals with men - like the woman with Ansari. It’s a conflict between being independent and self assured, and being accommodating and more submissive as we grow up feeling is expected of us.

Women don't understand how much men get rejected, particularly nowadays.

[–]poppy_bluAARP sent me a birthday card7 points8 points9 points 8 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

I sympathize with men IRL who struggle with rejection. Every human being will face rejection in their lives, yes even women. You get rejected for jobs and promotions, you get rejected applying to college, you get rejected in pursuing your passions in life, you get rejected by the opposite sex.

The reason I don’t sympathize with the reddit whiners is because while they do a lot of complaining about being rejected for dates and sex and how women have no sympathy, they don’t have any sympathy for women dumped by men after sex, by men who wouldn’t commit or just didn’t want to be with them, by husbands who found younger women etc. they don’t have sympathy for fat and coventionally unattractive women who struggle with rejection and often refer to them in disparaging terms or claim “it’s not the same because fat girls fuck Chad, blah blah.”

People sorely needing empathy would be wise to show empathy to others first. The results are amazingly predictable.

Men misunderstand the way attraction works for women, judging by many comments around here. They seem to believe it works the same as it does for men, which I think is generally not the case.

Women misunderstand men’s difficulty in approaching and initiating romantic relationships and/or sex. We see it too much from our perspective at times where it is relatively easy. We misunderstand how much men genuinely want to be desired - as much as women do.

I also think both men and women view men as more emotionally tough than they really here. The most die hard romantics I know and know of are male - they may project less insecurity and fragility than women, but when relationships end, generally I see men take it harder and get more emotionally torn up by it. Conversely, men think women are more emotionally fragile than they really are - which is why they seem so genuinely shocked and hurt when the ‘women are wonderful’ myth is shattered for them.

[–]decoy88Black Male in London7 points8 points9 points 8 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

I would say that it's belief that the opposite sex is more different than the reality

Both genders want to be desired.

Both genders want sex from the object of their desire.

Justifications for why people dump others can be largely to the peer pressure on that person.

I used to think "women are less shallow" when the truth is "men are more allowed to be shallow" which results in the same actions being justified in different ways according to the expectations of their peers.

Men and women are mostly the same. It's the expectations and what we lie about that's different.

[–]EqualinaPurple Pill Woman2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

This is very true. I still think we tend to be shallow in different ways - one is not more shallow than the other, but men are often portrayed as the more shallow.

Women are just as shallow about men's looks too.

[–]decoy88Black Male in London1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Is it? I find men judge other men and women about the same things, just not whether or they want to fuck them over it.

LTR prospects for both genders seem very similar. It could be a class thing though.

Both find looks less important than character. But noone wants to be with someone who can't arouse them.

[–]EqualinaPurple Pill Woman1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Online men certainly seem to care more about looks than women - because it’s more what turns them on (we know from studies men tend to be more visually stimulated than women). The men I know talk more about women’s looks as a factor in their attractiveness than women talk about men’s...For women looks can be arousing, but so can status and behavior. I don’t think this is so much the case for men?

[–]decoy88Black Male in London0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Online men certainly seem to care more about looks than women - because it’s more what turns them on

Online men often exaggerate IMO. And a lot have little experience irl. Combine that with the fact that behaviour tone and body language is cancelled out when online, they're not commenting on the full picture, so what's left (looks) become more important.

The men I know talk more about women’s looks as a factor in their attractiveness than women talk about men’s...For women looks can be arousing, but so can status and behavior. I don’t think this is so much the case for men?

I believe this is mostly due to socialisation. A man is more accepted when talking about shallower stuff. If a man talks about how comforting it is when his gf reassures him with a kiss him on the forehead when he's stressed out with life he'll get weird looks from peers.

Or if he talks about the benefits of his woman's status, others may look down on him for not 'running the show'

Similarly, if a woman talks about her bf's body drives her crazy to the point she wants to fuck him all the time her peers may look down on her for being too sexual.

Behaviour is just as arousing for men I think. ~But it isn't always required~. It is required. For example, a woman that's shows no positive feedback is a turn-off for men.

for women looks can be arousing, but so can status and behavior. I don’t think this is so much the case for men?

Does suddenly hearing that a person is famous make a pussy more wet? It's impressive for sure, but actually arousing? I believe women have been socialised to do a ROI evaluation in regards to status - "his high status means me giving it up makes more sense" but this is dependent on the cultural mindset.

[–]EqualinaPurple Pill Woman0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

You may well be right. It’s a very interesting debate - nature vs nurture.

I think men are definitely discouraged from being ‘feely’ about what they get from their gfs - talking about how hot she is is encouraged, about how supportive or successful she is, not so much. And yes, women focusing on the way a man looks is shamed to some degree as showing herself as being ‘too’ sexual.

I’ve heard some on here talk about how men’s status and behavior is viscerally arousing - how it can transcend his physical appearance. I’m not sure how true that is...

Thanks for making me think hard! :)

[–]decoy88Black Male in London1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

It's impossible to separate nature from nurture. Because the time in our history when the norms were formed, we didn't have the scientific research methods that could produce accurate results.

What I do know is that unlike any other species, humans have constantly been able to go against our natural urges and instincts and been able to reprogram our thoughts and behaviour patterns. This is kind of why I disregard the nature argument on behaviour. Ex. A woman from an ancient warrior tribe would say it's completely impossible for a man to sit down all day in a cubicle. Yet today, here we are.

[–]darkmoon091 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

How about the second comment? You want an explicit list of sexually attractive features? Women are giving it - but it’s so different from men’s that it seems some guys can’t hear it and conclude we are prudish or don’t know what we want. It’s about chemistry, energy, engagement, etc - it can change depending on the time of the month and what mood we’re in. It simply isn’t comparable to the way many men experience attraction in much more simple terms. Most men either find a woman physically attractive or they don’t. It doesn’t really change with her personality so much. For women it does change and this is something a lot of men here can’t accept.

Are you asking for specific sexual acts that I personally find arousing? That’s going to vary from woman to woman as it does between men. Physical features I’m most attracted to in a man? Shoulders, hands, thighs - but none of that matters if it’s in conflict with the ‘energy’ he gives off and my attraction to that. I don’t really feel attraction or arousal looking at just a photo of a hot man’s body without some context about who he is, what he sounds like (voices and language are important to me), what he’s passionate about...

If you showed me men and didn’t let me know anything about them, or hear them speak but I could look at their bodies - I’d surely find some objectively good looking, but I wouldn’t be attracted until I knew more about him.

I think men mostly misunderstand how women's "sexuality" works so to speak, and they often project their own sexuality onto women. I think a lot of the time women misunderstand how men view them and they think men(and other women sometimes) look at them the way look at themselves. I just hyper-focus on all of my physical imperfections(my eyes are a bit uneven and I dislike the shape of my nose), and I do not think men do that to that extent.

[–]LSTW123416 points17 points18 points 8 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

Yeah, I think women would be so much more comfortable with their bodies and sexuality if they could see themselves the way men see them.

[–]MercedesBenzoAMGbringing percocets molly percocet back to ppd5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

For real. Virtually everything women get insecure about, all those tiny little details, are things men straight up do not notice. The only legit one is being overweight. But even then, usually the fatties are not insecure about it, the skinny girls who think they're fat when they're actually a perfectly healthy weight are the insecure ones. It's just stupid to me.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Spot on. I think that's where most woman's insecurities come from (body related at least). Men do not notice or do not care about 90 percent of the stuff that a woman cares about or feels insecure about.

Then again, I myself was very self-conscious in my teens and early 20s almost couldn't leave my room. I hated my nose, my profile (still do not like it but) and other stuff and only years later I learned to sort of love myself or do not give a fuck about it since realized (learned) people rarely care about my "physical flaws" so to speak.

Men would love it if a woman sent us naked pics early into a relationship. But for women that just makes them feel cheap and scared.

Women would love it if a man had a graduate degree and a high powered job with lots of income. But to lots of men that is just intimidating in a woman, and since a woman wants to date up in SES, her dating pool is filled with men who have access to far higher quality women than her (younger, prettier, nicer).

I agree that women are way too rough on themselves physically. For the most part guys divide women into 2 groups. noticeable and invisible. There are various shades of noticeable (mildly cute is not the same thing as unrealistically hot) but for the most part as long as you fall on the noticeable part of the curve, you'll be fine.

Men misunderstand the way attraction works for women, judging by many comments around here. They seem to believe it works the same as it does for men, which I think is generally not the case.

I strongly believe this is false. Women attraction to men is very similar to men's attraction to women. It's really annoying seeing women/BP continue to deny it though.

[–]cxj75% Redpill Core Ideas10 points11 points12 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Women misunderstand, or underestimate, how heavily men’s romantic interest revolves around the sex act itself as its own reward, and how much attraction really is physical. Relationships very heavily revolve arou d men wanting a physically attractive female body to fuck.

So many times I hear or read shit like “ugh they just like young girls to manipulate them/Show off to their friends” and that may be true but is dwarfed in comparison to raw physical urges

[–]FairlyNaiveRed Pill Man4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

This. I cant understand to this day how after years of beeing told how guys only want one thing they still manage to do this.

IKR??!! And women certainly act like they know, with makeup and plastic surgery and shit. They’re the more intuitive group but then critically fail somehow

[–]BeyondTheLight4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I think that they just HOPE men aren't like that. They want to be loved for other things, than just for their hole. If women really knew what men were like I bet that they would become full blown lesbos or hoard cats like a nerd that comes across a first edition of his favorite comic book series.

[–]cxj75% Redpill Core Ideas0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I’ve thought that before too. It’s not that other things don’t matter at all, it’s just that the physical /sexual aspects are so intense and overbearing

[–]BeyondTheLight2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Right sex is our "foot in the door" after that we men will care way more about the rest. Why would we be even in a relationship if it weren't for sex (and children). You could literally be fucking escorts who are a guaranteed 8+. You have male friends for all that other shit. Cooking is something men do themselves and most of them are fine with a three day old pizza. I don't want to sound like a dick, but if it weren't for things like sex, then men wouldn't be getting in one. Most of them wouldn't. You still have men who would marry for consolidation of wealth, but those are a different group altogether.

[–]carefreevermillionLook at me. I'm the Chad now.2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women misunderstand how important sex is to men, and that men have more moods than desperate for sex. Perhaps they would notice the latter if they were more satisfying when it comes to the former.

[–]wattwattyOld and reddish3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Admittedly, it is basically a line from a comedy routine, but men are very easy to please. Attention to providing sex and food is just about all men require actively. Men often desire lack of action with respect to other things. I do not want drama, or a list of chores, or needless angst, or a social calendar full of shitheads, etc.

Conversely, any man who wants a clean house and does nothing to make it happen is an asshole.

[–]SkookumTreeWe are DONE with "cope"3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes. But /u/Triadis3 displays the most crucial point of TRP – if you want more than that from your relationship, the chance that you won't get it (and that your relationship is destined to fail) is much much higher. You can't be loved in the way you would really like to, you can't expect comfort and relaxation, you can't expect to be able to trust uncoditionally. This is all he will be able to safely get, and if that's it, then he's fine with it. The problem TRP sees with men is that they expect so much more, and that they can never get it, such as unconditional love, safety, not having to be on guard and so on.

This is why it is called the red pill. It hurts. You don't actually want it. You want to go back and hope that you can get what you want, although you know there is no place to relax.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

The question was discussing men.

The definition of a man, to me is someone who is confident, composed, has his shit together, is an oak, and truly doesn't need anyone else in his life to feel complete.

You're right, most "men" don't fit that description. So if the discussion was about what women didn't know about overgrown manchildren, of course the answer is buried miles deeper.

Yea, this is a good point. A more interesting question however is "Why".

[–]quicklogaccountI claim to cause RPs to feel blue1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I take it is about projection. Men and women are different, behaviors bred by different pressures in the same environments, but what led to us to project ourselves exerted pressure on both.

A while ago I wrote something about it in TRP. Women try to display themselves for men as they believe valuable men are, and come out as sluts. Men do the same and come out pussies.

[–]jackandjill22Red Pill misanthropic, contrarian1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

That's a pretty good observation. That doesn't seem like it makes sense; behaviorally why would someone attempt imitation as a solution but when you consider that women mostly feel everything men have done up until nows a "double-standard" it would explain why they feel compelled to act wild with little, to no consequences.

they did it first our turn now

[–]quicklogaccountI claim to cause RPs to feel blue1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I never really gave much thought about societal consequences. Projection mechanisms are well settled and observed and explained the observations well enough, so that was enough. I suppose I should think further now.

[–]quicklogaccountI claim to cause RPs to feel blue0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't understand why men would do it though. I just don't see any incentive.

The pressure goes the other way around there. It's not that there is pressure for humans to project themselves. It's just a consequence of us being sympathetic (something that seems to have evolutionary origins) and relying on that when we try to understand other people most likely because we don't have another hard wired circuitry to draw axioms from.
What didn't happen was pressure to make us empathetic, capable and prone to "feel" the world through another's point of view. Our capacity for doing it comes from a good bit of rational thought, abstraction, and sometimes sympathy, two of which require effort and aren't our favorite way to handle things.
RP's persistent advice for men to look at the men women date rather than hear them saying which men they'd like to date is about this.

What comes from it is that we won't really think about what the other gender might find attractive, we'll rely on heuristics that evolved to be functional, hardly optimal, in long lost environments. If we set ourselves to THINK, our first will be to draw the model for the other people behavior from our own, sympathy, which will prompt us to believe the virtues we find important are also important for the other gender, and that simply isn't true often enough.

To nail things, we need another level of abstraction. My own strategy goes a bit like this. First I make some effort to ignore what I want, to avoid wishful reasoning. Then I pick up the praxeology RP taught me for women, deriving from a need for social status, security, and hypergamy, and assess whatever is it that I am trying to understand through it. This first assessment is to try to understand what "natural" drives might be guiding the behavior. Then I try to falsify the explanation (or more than one, but it's rare because I'm lazy and the axioms are too definite and make a tight logic that doesn't offer many forks). If it falls down, I'll rely on observing some biases of thought, projection among them (this one happens a LOT so I look at it first), availability too, which basically means she's thinking about something. This usually solves it. I supposed it'd solve it more often if I actually did it often enough to become good at it. lol

Men don't understand that a given woman has no interest in 99%+ of men.

Women don't understand that men being attracted to them is not seeing them as an object.

[–]WolfgangBreitweit1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Women and men think, that they should understand each other.

This is a misconception. There is no need for mutual understanding. We had 3 million years of time. Didn’t work out. If understanding would be vital to our species, we would long be extinct.

Men and women don’t function in the same way. Everything aside from sex should be handled within gender groups.

[–]jackandjill22Red Pill misanthropic, contrarian0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

No, lack of exposure to the other side would probably compound the problem. I agree with your statement I just don't think segregations the answer the same way I don't think extreme-right parities are the answer to liberal politically correctness. It's reactionary backlash. Think better.

[–]WolfgangBreitweit0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Segregation is what men and women want.

The more freedoms society offers for job choice, the larger the gap. Women increasingly go for typical female jobs, and men for typically male jobs. Because that’s what they want,

[–]ganso_bum1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Women think most men have the exact same sexual options they do and don't understand that most men actually don't have a lot of orbiters knocking at the door waiting to give them free shit in exchange for it.

Men misunderstand that women don't really mean what they say, they're just saying what's socially acceptable because they're programmed to be more socially minded. Taking women literally is a huge mistake.

Sexual and dating options. Social media likes for basic posts about nothing that would be ignored if they were men. Protection because they're women. The benefit of the doubt. The social power to be as shitty as they want and still claim victimhood.

Paid for dates.

isn't the norm to split the bill? I've also seen quite often that men demand to pay because Muh Masculinity.

Paid-for schooling because the gender is being pushed forward.

Last time i checked, only 6% of scholarships were of the "female scholarship" type

Jobs because they have vaginas

Gender quotas? Goes for men too, in nursing/kindergarten teachers etc.

Men being nice to them because they want to have sex with them.

If this is percieved as a positive thing can be debated. And it's maybe "niceness" for 10 seconds until they realize the woman won't sleep with them.

Social media likes for basic posts about nothing that would be ignored if they were men.

The majority of those likes are from other women.

Protection because they're women.

Source?

The benefit of the doubt.

Benevolent sexism is still sexism. And the crime statistics do help in favor of women.

The social power to be as shitty as they want and still claim victimhood.

Being shitty doesnt come without consequences, but i do agree that women have more leeway of claiming victimhood. I also think that is offensive lol, goes against so much that the second wave feminists fought for.

Gender quotas? Goes for men too, in nursing/kindergarten teachers etc.

And those men are looked down on by women for not being masculine enough, and the ones working with children are treated like pedophiles

If this is percieved as a positive thing can be debated. And it's maybe "niceness" for 10 seconds until they realize the woman won't sleep with them.

I don't condone being assholes about it if a woman rejects them, but otherwise, women are treated nicely just because they're women and a guy has a chance to have sex with her. There are a lot of dudes who would like that kind of leeway from other men

The majority of those likes are from other women.

Only if she's a single mom or messed up her shot somehow

Source?

A woman can hit a man in public and it gets laughed at, a man raising his voice at a woman in public gets people ready to kick his ass and call the police.

Also, just look at all the white knights who claim to be feminists

Benevolent sexism is still sexism. And the crime statistics do help in favor of women.

Feminists are less inclined to break down sexist systems that are good for them

Being shitty doesnt come without consequences, but i do agree that women have more leeway of claiming victimhood. I also think that is offensive lol, goes against so much that the second wave feminists fought for.

And again, feminists are fine with that because they don't want things to actually be equal, they want to push women ahead of men, have all the advantages of men and none of the disadvantages of being men or women.

[–]Five_DecadesKnows what women want. Knows he doesn't have it1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think women overestimate how much we think about sex. The myth that we think about it every 7 seconds isn't true. Even among teenage boys it isn't that intense.

Plus the older you get, the less important it becomes. We still think about it, but usually only a few times a day.

[–]reluctantly_red2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

That women don't actually understand themselves. That when a woman says she's loyal and will be there for the people she loves she doesn't understand that this is not actually true. With regard to her man this is only true so long as he remains her best option. If his star fades (or her's rises) she won't be loyal and she won't be there for him (or more accurately he'll have been excised from her life).

When men buy into the women are wonderful myth and actually think they can rely on a woman's promises of loyalty, fidelity, and commitment they have completely misunderstood the female of the species.

[–]Million-SunsMarriage is obsolete1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

After reading that, my question is why genders of the same specie have evolved so much differently from each other. It's a miracle we are still able to procreate with each other.
