Yes, I used to be very conservative and pro-life in all circumstances, believe it or not. Then I became pro-choice and probably would have had an abortion if I got pregnant in my early twenties. Now I'm in a relationship with the person I plan to marry and we're in a place where we could take care of a kid, so I feel better about keeping it.

I wouldn't force anyone to be a parent unless they wanted to be. If I was at the point where I was willing to keep, I think I'd opt for adoption.

I'm British, pro-life isn't a thing here, if you don't want an abortion you don't have one, I've never known anyone who presumes they can make that decision for others.

Currently trying for a third, so no I wouldn't have an abortion right now!

I'd do what I decided to do, ultimately it is me going through it for 9 months then the rest of my life. (It has a far bigger impact on the mother's life and career, generally.) His opinion would be considered but wouldn't actually change my mind about having one or not having one.

My opinion hasn't changed that much, I don't think you can anticipate how you will feel about it until you are in that situation of an unplanned pregnancy. I have been there, it's a headfuck. Hats off to women who are strong enough to decide to have an abortion when that is what's right for them.

Yesterday my new boyfriend came all over my butt. I think his offspring dried up and perished there, but if a tiny drop magically slipped into my vagina and survived long enough to make it into an egg, expect me to abort in a few weeks when I find out about it :)

To elaborate, I am pro-choice and I would always abort a child, in all circumstances. I would not leave a man if he asked me to get an abortion, but I would leave a pro-life man who thinks he is entitled to tell me to keep the baby/who would not contribute to the cost of abortion.

Right now the question is a bit difficult for me since I have a reproductive problem. More than likely I would keep it because it might be my one and only shot to have a kid.

If my boyfriend didn't want it. I'd tell him I understand and would ask him to just stay out of our lives. I wouldn't want child support or anything. Not everyone is ready for a kid and I'm honestly not but I wouldn't let the opportunity slip by.

The only change in my idea is that when I was younger and didn't know my ovaries are going to shit, I would totally get an abortion. Now, being 25 and dealing with PCOS, my views are a little different but I'll always be pro choice.

Yes, somewhat. I used to say I was 'anti abortion but pro choice,' because I've always leaned Libertarian and I believed that this was not the business of the law. I've shifted towards being pro life after life experience and realizing that the sanctity of life trumps the other considerations.

One other thing: If I was somehow made queen and had to make One Law To Rule All Abortion, I would leave it legal until 13 weeks (whatever the triple screen/common testing cutoff is, can't remember.) First tri miscarriage is REALLY common, but second and onward is not and it is those last two that I find stomach churningly abhorrent. I don't want to steamroll.

I would not get an abortion if my boyfriend told me to because it is my body. Luckily we discussed this early on in our relationship and he entered in to it knowing I would not have one under almost all circumstances.

If he wanted to keep it we would be keeping it regardless. It would be very very inconvenient for me right now.

My views have not changed much over the years. It should be the pregnant person's choice, within reason. If it is far enough along that the baby could survive, adoption is the better option.

No, I'd be open to having another kid if I found myself pregnant.

I'd listen to what he had to say but if my desire to have the kid was strong and the practical issues able to be dealt with I would have the kid.

I'd listen to what he had to say but unless he could come up with some factor I hadn't considered he will be SOOL. If I suspected he'd be abusive and manipulative in his pushing for the pregnancy to continue I may even abort without his knowledge.

The only part of my views that have changed is that I didn't used to support aborting without telling the man. But since then I've seen so many stories online about guys who behaved incredibly badly when they didn't get their own way that I fully support this decision being a totally private one when the woman wants it to be. Being told what is happening is a courtesy a woman extends to a man she trusts to behave decently. Men who wish to be told such things need to pay attention to being trustworthy and do so long before any accidental pregnancy occurs.

Ugh... I want to say that I'd have the abortion if my husband didn't want the child, but I honestly think it could taint the relationship in a way I'd never recover from. I don't know that the relationship would end, but it wouldn't ever be the same. I hope we never find ourselves in that predicament.

There are very few circumstances under which I'd want an abortion. One would be if I were raped and conceived, and the other would be if there were a high chance of the child having some illness/genetic problem. My SO is on board on both of those fronts, so I expect never to have this issue. Whenever we decide that more kids are a definite no, one of us will get the snip.

My perspective has changed 100% since having a child with the man I intend to be with forever. I used to have zero attachment to fetuses and would've had terminations without a second thought.... but now that I've held my daughter I don't think I could abort for convenience. I'm still pro-choice for everyone else-- I don't claim to know what's right for other people.

I believe that abortion should be legal, but I personally think abortion is unethical. That said, there are many good reasons why an unethical decision might be the best decision for an individual person, and I don't consider it my job to police others about such a harrowing choice.

I would not have an abortion if I found myself pregnant. I've discussed this with my husband and we've agreed to do a paternity test on any unplanned children. If they are not my husband's, I will offer the father the ability to adopt the child; if he refuses, I will put the child up for adoption. (For planned children, we've agreed that I won't have PIV sex with other people during the window in which the child might be conceived.) My husband supports my right to bodily autonomy and it would be incredibly out of character for him to disagree with me about this, particularly given how strong my feelings are.

I used to be unambiguously pro-choice but I shifted as I became less certain when fetuses become morally relevant.

It depends greatly on the circumstances. I've told my husband that if my health was on the line (but it wasn't pregnancy related) and it would be terminal, I'd carry to term so long as he was willing to be a single parent and the child is wanted. If his only reason to abort a pregnancy is so I can receive palliative care, I wouldn't agree with his wishes.

On the other hand, if his reasons to terminate the pregnancy were rooted in something else like "we cannot afford a child" or "there is a genetic issue that he'd rather we not carry to term" I would terminate.

probably. parenthood is a huge responsibility and expense, so it would take a lot of discussing with my husband. we've been pretty happily childfree so far, so we would have to decide if we were prepared not only to properly care for a child and ensure it's healthy (neither of us are that young anymore), but also to welcome such a huge change to our lives.

I honestly don't think I'd want to keep it if I didn't have my SO's full support. I'm prochoice because I don't believe in bringing a child into the world who isn't wanted. I mean, if I went ahead with it I'm fairly certain my SO would be supportive regardless but there could be some resentment there and having a child is going to drastically change both our lives.

As above except... it would depend on why I was "inconveniently" pregnant. Somewhat context dependent, but for the most part I probably would abort. It wouldn't be right to rope an unwilling person into parenthood. Unless I'd be willing to be a single parent (and I probably wouldn't be) I'd abort. It's just asking for a dysfunctional family to keep it.

Again, context dependent. At this point it would depend on how I felt about being a parent. If I wanted to be one, but just wanted to wait a few years for whatever reason, I'd probably keep it. Honestly though, I have a hard time recognizing myself in these questions, because I think we'd have discussed the topic if this was a LTR, and would be approaching it as "What are we going to do?" instead of "Are you going to abort?" If we can't reach a decision together, that's not a great sign. My boyfriend and I talked about what we would do long before we even had PIV. Hell, I even talked about my views to my ex, a girl who had no chance of getting me pregnant.

I would not get an abortion if I found out I was pregnant today. I'm in a healthy LTR, we have talked about our futures together and we currently plan on doing the whole life thing as a duo with mini us at some point.

I would probably keep it if I was told by someone to get an abortion and break the F up with said person, depending on his reasoning. It's very unlikely my current bf would want me to, though.

It depends on the "inconvenience". If I had some kind of life threatening illness that wasn't likely to get better, I might abort. If I was drastically poorer than I am now, I might abort.

I've always been pro-choice. With previous relationships, I probably would have aborted, depending on my partners reaction, but the likelihood of becoming pregnant was always low, so I hadn't thought too much about it.

Pro-choice, would likely get one if it was very early, would likely not get one on someone else's request, would consider keeping the pregnancy if my husband felt strongly about it, and no, my views haven't changed much (except in the sense that I've given the issue more thought, so my stance is more clear than when I first became sexually active).

Probably not today, being that I'm in a stable relationship with someone I trust to co-parent with despite not being wed. I am pro-choice because I don't feel the need to push my moral agenda on others, but personally, if I had an unwanted pregnancy I would make every effort to see it through and not terminate life. But, if the conditions really weren't right..then abortion is an avenue I would consider.

Well, my SO most certainly wouldn't say "you're having an abortion and that is final", but he's incredibly rational and if we had a conversation and that was his best assessment, then I would likely do it because I trust his judgment. If I really did not want to have it against his wishes, then I would give him a clean out with no financial obligations.

I can't imagine wanting to abort so this is hard. But if I really really didn't feel it was happening under conditions geared for success, but my SO said "we can do this"...I would likely trust him.

I've always been legislatively pro-choice, but I used to be personally vehemently pro-life; others may do what they will but I wouldn't put the burden of my mistakes on my unborn child (I would have seen adoption as best option). However once I hit my late teens/early twenties I began to feel more comfortable with the idea of an abortion only if I had taken every contraceptive precaution. If the pregnancy had been the product of shit judgment, I couldn't morally justify that. If I had done everything by the books and it really was system/product error, then I would be much more receptive to the idea of terminating. That being said, for those exact reasons I've never lapsed in my judgment of contraceptive use. I've usually used two forms of birth control to really avoid putting myself in that kind of position.

I'm pro-choice.

I would get an abortion if I was pregnant today since I would not be able to financially support a child.

If I wanted to keep the child, I would not abort since the father can always sign away his rights to custody (that is what happened when I was born - my mother also didn't ask for child support).

If I was inconveniently pregnant I would go ahead with aborting because other than not wanting a kid, I don't want to go through the physical and financial cost of pregnancy and birth. If there was a way for me to give the fetus to another woman to give birth to, sure, but that technology doesn't exist right now.

Edit: If I had a husband who was against aborting, I would probably not abort. The main reason I would abort is if I could not afford to keep the child. Having a husband would mean I have support (financial and mental) to raise a child. However this scenario says that I want to abort, so yes, I would go ahead for the reasons in the paragraph before.

My views have changed. I used to be anti-abortion unless in cases of rape/incest. This was heavily influenced by the school I went to (which was Baptist/Christian) and my peers. Now I believe that abortion should be the choice of the woman. I realize that there are ethical issues at hand, but those can only be determined by the woman who is actually pregnant and directly affected by her choice.

I probably would, I'm not personally ready to be a parent, and I don't know that I ever will be willing to give up so much to be one.

I highly doubt I'd be in a situation where I wanted to keep a child and my SO wanted me to abort, but if so, I probably would, if not for the reason that having 2 wanted parents is still somewhat of a norm and I'm not going to make 3 people's lives miserable.

Somewhat. Didn't use to really see nuance to the pro-life argument. I still think it's silly for someone to think abortion should be illegal in all cases. Now I can at least understand those who think it shouldn't be allowed beyond certain reasonable cases (harm to the mother, or past the first trimester), but only if it's like a combination of both those cases, because otherwise you'll just have people getting abortions anyways... just more people dying from them.

- I am 98% certain that I would get an abortion, I have 0 interest in having children.
- I always have a "what do we do if the contraception fails" conversation before having sex with anyone (calm your raging loins, boys, I know it's a hot discussion). My answer is always that I would want an abortion...it would be a total dickmove on an epic scale to reassure them of that and then go back on it so no, I like to think I'd keep my word on it.
- Again, the discussion will have taken place and if they don't agree with aborting then they don't get sexy times, if they initially agreed and then changed their mind I'd have to live with being a murderer in their eyes.
- I always thought I wanted kids and that my life wouldn't be complete without them however I still always knew that if I got pregnant at the time I'd still abort, the only view that has changed is that I don't want kids...so my views on abortion itself have always been the same.

He wouldn't, but if he did, we would divorce and I would want no legal responsibility for the child. I wouldn't want to see it or have any part of it's life. It's hard to answer this question, because it's so against my gut feeling of keep the kid. But it also depends on how inconvenient we are talking. If it was my life or the child's I'd choose my own I think and if my boyfriend insisted I carry it to term I wouldn't be able to stay with him.
