What is TRP community's view on STI/STD risk mitigation? Most guys aren't trying to get anyone pregnant, so a condom/vasectomy makes sense period, but condoms don't protect against everything. I recognize the appeal of seeing an attractive girl, chatting her up, and then closing the deal, but that "high risk" behavior is a double edged sword, it could give you a better chance of fucking, but also decreases your ability to assess the other person well. Also, you're probably not the first guy she's chosen to sleep with an hour or two after meeting.

The other layer to it, after reading TRP, is it seems stupid to risk your sexual or general health just to get laid.

So, on one level it seems like concern over STD/STI transmission could lead to beta behaviors, consciously or otherwise. On the other, it seems beta/desperate to risk your sexual health for a fuck.

So, a year and a half ago I took the red pill and am never looking back. "What will you do when you're old and there's no one to take care of you, you'll end up lonely and depressed. How will you care for yourself as a single man?" And that

Not all of us have access to great health care, retirement homes etc. How would you answer this question, I couldn't answer this one and frankly made me think that maybe a compromise with marriage is inevitable.

I am wondering whether TRP has a view on how to handle a situation that my friend went through. I have read the sidebar and the required reading list, but I didn't see anything about how to handle a situation like this:

My friend Mike was at a pub with his girlfriend. A guy that no one knew was there, and started to call Mike's girlfriend 'ugly.' He was saying it loudly and repeatedly so that everyone could hear. Mike was much bigger than this guy. Mike went and towered over the guy and said, "Buddy, I think it's time for you to leave." Suddenly, the guy pulled a broken beer bottle from behind his back and slashed open Mike's face. The guy ran off and was never found. Mike got to the hospital, but he has been left with an hellacious scar on his face. It's not like the scar from a knife. It's wide and red-colored. He will have it for the rest of his life (he's in his twenties).

Clearly, the guy was hiding that broken beer bottle behind his back because he was planning on using it. Obviously the guy was just trying to start a confrontation so he could slash someone in the face. Poor Mike walked right into this situation. The only thing to be thankful for is that the broken beer bottle didn't get Mike's eye. Does TRP have any views on how Mike could have handled this situation better and realized a less-horrible outcome for himself?

How can I not give a fuck effectively? Balancing self-improvement with socializing has proved hard as hell for me.

I alternate between "fuck people, who needs em, I'm just gonna lift, hustle, and play videogames" or "fuck what you think, if I'm making you mad, go fuck yourself". One is a hermit and one is an asshole that ruins his friendships and messes up his frame/goals with drugs/alcohol. How can I find a happy medium? Stronger frame/discipline but also has friends/women and goes out.

I indulge one or the other far too much and while they're fun for a while eventually one gets too tiring so I switch back (letting my life fall apart by going out and being a drunk dick too much, or wanting to kill myself due to isolation. Going out and getting fucked up alleviates loneliness, but it makes the rest of my life suffer. Staying in alleviates distraction, but makes me a loser.)

I have grown so much in 3 years, lift, many many friends, popular with girls but I have one insecurity that has ruined a few encounters with girls. Sweating. I am not overweight. ok i have a question. ive been lurking for a while since my last relationship went sour and i found my way here. lately ive been lurking more than in the past since ive been seeing threads come up about self improvement, and ive been focusing on that while dealing with the last of the fallout from my last relaionship and that effecting my school and overall levels of stress/mental health and quality of life. ive finally been making some more strides and reducing my stress level and getting more shit together, and for the past few weeks have been reading a lot at this sub.

over the years it seems like ive really strengthened myself in a variety of ways through things like buddhism, stoicism, various other philosophies and life experiences. before i found this sub. so currently i feel like i have qualities of both alpha and beta, and these may fluctuate depending on scenario. the more i read on here the more i think im bringing myself into awareness that some of the things ive always been doing and/or looking for in an ltr are false. for example, for years i have been contemplating what i am doing in a relationship to cause a woman to cheat on me. a big breaking point for me was that i was too distant and lax, offering no support/lead among some other things which left unfulfilled needs for my partner causing them to fill these needs elsewhere. i am now getting more of a perspective into how that initial realization fits into the bigger scheme of things as postulated by trp.

I'm new to TRP so bare with me if I do not use the correct terms that are normally used during conversation here.

I just finished reading "No More Mr Nice Guy" after struggling with a situation that I am looking for a solution to deal with.

So I met this girl about 8 years ago, We met in Hawaii. She was there with her college basketball team and I was there with my college basketball team in a tournament.

Came across each other, and I got her number and we text for awhile but it fizzled out due to the distance between us, but we kept in contact through social media (liking each others pics, etc). She got married a couple of years after that, and was recently divorced around a year ago. She is currently playing professional basketball in England, and is from Iowa while I'm from Los Angeles. We randomly started chatting again around January and we talked pretty much everyday we'd facetime, call each other, etc.

Things between us became more and more "serious" i guess you could say. We began talking about being in a relationship potentially and her moving to LA when she's done playing overseas. I had some time off from work so I decided to take a trip to England to see her for a week and watch her play. Made the trip at the end of March, and it was the first time we had seen each other since we met in Hawaii in 2008. It was instant fireworks, the moment I got there. Great sex, great conversation, we enjoyed being around each other and everything was going great.

Then two days before I left she started to become a little different, and later claimed that she realized that a LDR between us wouldn't work because of the distance between us although she thinks I am an amazing guy and that we go well together.

So I come back to LA after a week in England and she's really distant because she doesn't want to fall deeper and make this situation harder. The amount of conversation that we have, compared to the amount before I visited her, is ALOT lower, the last couple weeks it seems as though I'm pulling teeth to have a conversation with her because she has "emotionally detaching herself" It's gotten to the point where she's not even initiating conversation much anymore other than randomly messaging "Hope you have a good day" every couple of days.

Need some advice on how to go about this moving forward. I'm aware that a LDR wouldn't work between us, and it's not fair to her or myself for us to wait for a situation that is more beneficial for the both of us. Every since I came back from England, I can't get her off my mind.

Alright TRP, I think I have a phobia. See, I'm kind of afraid of women. It seems to me like I have little social leverage compared to women. I mean, if a girl wanted to, she could lock me away for life on a whim. Just lie and say I raped her. Which means that pretty much all women have authority over me. And authority makes me nervous. I don't like putting my life in someone else's hands and trusting them, especially someone I just met.

Like, to the degree that I don't tend to talk much to anybody when I first meet them. Men can fuck you up too, just not as easily as women can.

Before I say anything else, i've only been on this forum a month and a half and am still learning about everything.

Recently I started gaming this girl i've known for about a year or two in school but have never really talked to her. We have second and seventh period together and I have always displayed Alpha behavior in that class, and in seventh we don't sit together so I usually just sit back and pay attention.
