Women get judged no matter what they do. Too masculine, too feminine, too fat, too thin, we can’t win.
We are sick of it and don’t exist to look “pretty” to you.
How do you feel when society expect all these impossible things from men (money/abs/success/full head of hair/etc)?
Yeah it sucks doesn’t it?
How about we stop being sexist towards each other?

Acting like a man is a choice. Getting fat is a choice. Slopping around town is a choice.
Maybe so. And the choice is not a problem for them. It's a problem for you. Why does it matter that it's a problem for you? What incentive do you offer to make those women care about this disapproval?

So you are self selecting out of the dating pool. First, thank you. Second, you need to rethink your obsession with height. Being filled with hate for women and actively trying to shame them for existing in ways that don’t fully please you personally, is way more detrimental to finding a partner than being short.

He wasn't born angry. He became angry after being treated like shit by women for something he can't control. I'm 6'2 and even I can see how badly women treat short men so stop trying to gaslight him with your therapy bullshit.
[–]rosephase2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
So you would rather that he give up and become so hateful he has zero chance of finding a partner?
I know short guys do not have it easy. It's a rough hand to be dealt. But many many many many short dudes find loving relationships. It's not a death sentence. But HATING the gender you want to partner with? THAT will fuck you up. And fuck up anyone who gets into a relationship with you.

Fat-shaming has been scientifically shown to make people fatter.
Many people become fat because they use food to comfort or calm themselves. Making them feel shitty and upset makes them want to be calmed and comforted. Which means.....

And that sucks. However I know some women who are very successful and it makes low ego men uncomfortable. A lot of men won’t date a woman who is more successful and or makes more than them.
All of this sucks and that’s why we should stop being jerks to each other.
Example:
If you don’t like big girls, don’t date one. However people don’t need to post about it.

Actually I think a part of the problem is that a great many women learn to emulate men’s behavior by watching screwed up shows like “mad men” ... when in reality it isn’t like that. Most women i run across have a hard time even knowing the difference between assertive and asshole.
[–]Meritamen98 points9 points10 points 6 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
Women are just judged more harshly for assertive behavior. https://arstechnica.com/science/2018/10/acting-like-a-psychopath-is-great-for-male-ceos-not-so-much-for-women/ https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2015/10/151026172546.htm

Typical female response. Talk about the CEO, ignore the 99%. Most CEOs I know are actually friendly... and seriously OCD. Work harder, stop making excuses.
Don’t believe me? Look at the Sr managers and CEOs that are actually successful... I mean the company under them is successful. They have social skills and are typically not assholes. It’s the ones that got her job because she has tits and the company wanted to put a “woman” in charge, that have issues.
[–]Meritamen94 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Typical female response
Did I hit a nerve?
Everything you say is anecdotal.
[–]Meritamen92 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Add on: I never said CEOS were all assholes. I was saying that assertive behavior is read differently on a woman than on a man.
[–]Suck-Less0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
People that "These are not murderers, these are just people with really odious personalities," said co-author Karen Landay, a graduate student at the University of Alabama. "This is the kind of boss who is going to yell, scream, threaten, and humiliate well beyond the typical good person just having a bad day."
Don’t gain influence, man or woman. They’re just assholes that cut paychecks. And that’s not anywhere near a majority of managers in any major company.
[–]Meritamen90 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Did I ever say it was the majority? All I am saying is that assertive behavior and showing anger hurts a woman way more than it will hurt a men. The article I sent also said psychopathic traits are only slightly more beneficial to men. You are also ignoring the study finding showing anger to be beneficial in men.
Psychopathy also goes deeper than being someone who screams at people. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychopathy#Definition
[–]Suck-Less0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
See, this. 100% this. Zero concept of what assertive is. Showing anger is not assertive. Being dominate isn’t assertive. Being an ass isn’t assertive. And plenty of places in our society women can be flat our rage filled and it’s ok, where if a man did the same people would run to him and kick him to the ground.
I’m ignoring your studies because they are typical feminist garbage. Women are far more accepted in society for expressing extreme ranges of emotions. But again, none of that is assertive.
Here’s your real problem. Society jams “strong and independent, you go girl, you so special” down women’s throats. Men, basically kiss women’s asses to get dates, give women stuff, pay for their food just to get to known them. Open doors for strange women, lift random heavy things for them. Men are basically raised to be the manual labor and ATMs of women.
But men have to fight for everything they have. Tooth and nail. Because no one cares how far men fall. We learn we have to compete like crazy to get what we want, because no one will do it for us. So when women get into the work force, they take on a competitive role. A role men are used to but women are flat out shocked by.
Look at the other men in the office. Do they magically get respect? Magically everyone listens to every one of them? Hell no. Very few are actually respected and listened to, but you ignore them because women are raised to ignore weak men.
What you are experiencing is wonderful. For the first time in human history, women are starting to be treated like men. Disposable unless you earn value, not just given it.
[–]Meritamen90 points1 point2 points 6 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link
Why is showing anger beneficial for a man but not for a woman as shown in studies? Why are men demonstrating some psychopathic traits rewarded? I have no need to nit pick definitions. Call it whatever.
I’m ignoring your studies
Want to live la la land based on what you want to believe and anecdotes? Ok.
What does that have to do with what I said? All you are doing is going on angry offtopic rants and starting semantics debates.
[–]Suck-Less0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Showing anger is not beneficial for men or women. It shows lack of self control. It’s feminist propaganda that says it’s beneficial and male behavior. Your studies literally compare successful men to psychopaths.
And no, I’m not going off topic. I’m using your, and your articles, lack of understanding around what assertive is as an example. You can believe me or not, but you keep referring to articles about psychopaths as though it’s acceptable, respected, behavior and beneficial. That’s garbage. It’s a typical feminist view of male behavior.
My “off topic” comment was just an example of why so many women have a hard time even knowing what assertive is... like yourself. Assertive is just establishing and enforcing boundaries, goals and expectations. It’s, not accepting no as an answer, and doing what’s necessary to get a job done. It’s NOT being a psychopathic, angry and yelling asshole.
[–]c_dolly5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago* (6 children) | Copy Link
No, nobody tries to emulate mad men description of male behaviour. Nobody seriously watches mad men anymore.
I had to be an asshole to men to get them to respect me. Assertive wasn't enough. Sure, they get a little angry at first but after a while they move on, and they respect you.
I am very much a feminine woman, but femininity brings out the worst of men.
Do that in a Fortune 500 company and people will stop working with you. Stop helping you. Your projects will fail. In no time you’ll be in charge of a broom.
[–]c_dolly2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
No, absolutely not. That happens if you're a pushover and you do not assert yourself. No one will assign you any important project if they know you're too nice and polite to call out the lazy slacking team member. They will give you the easy non important stuff.
Being an asshole sometimes has its benefits, you can't be a garbage human 24/7. Everything in moderation but if you're not afraid of being an asshole, you will be respected. You don't climb the corporate ladder by being pleasant and nice. Nice and pleasant people get eaten alive.
Assertive yes, of course. Asshole? No. Yea there are rare situations where you have to be that way, but not 24/7. Be extremely competent at what you do. That gets real respect. Respect through intimidation is not respect. It’s a hack ploy that incompetent people use.
[–]c_dolly2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
This is literally exactly what I said, you have to be an asshole in some situations, not 24/7. Competence only gets you so far. Unless you're the best, you will need more than competence. Intimidation is absolutely necessary when competence and assertiveness are not enough.
You started the thread saying how you had to be an asshole to get respect. I’m assuming you meant it and the rest is just back walking. I e never had to be an “asshole” ... I have, however, had to be exceptionally good at what I do. People listen to what I say in a board meeting, because they see the results, not because I try and dominate the situation.
[–]c_dolly0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Alright, so my first comment had this sentence:
I had to be an asshole to men to get them to respect me. Assertive wasn't enough.
This means that I am not an asshole 24/7, it was not my first approach and that assertiveness was the main focus, but it was not enough.
My second comment, after you said that it was a sure way to end up only managing a broom and nobody working for me had this sentence :
Bring an asshole sometimes has its benefits, you can't be a garbage human 24/7.
Your next comment went on to repeat this exact sentence, but with extra words. After you said that this strategy will not get me anywhere.
I am not the one backwalking here. I never said competence and results were meaningless, but no way they're all that matters.
However, I should have known you were not engaging in good faith when you decided to jump to conclusions and assign me a life of broom managing. Have a nice day.
[–][deleted] 8 points9 points10 points 6 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link
Men have had millennia to figure out the difference and far too many still get it wrong. Why do you expect women to perfect it in a few decades?
[–]Pontifex_Lucious-IIEducating Gentiles since 19891 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
Yes? If they’re actually in charge of shit I expect them to have already figured it out.
[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 6 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
Why? Men haven't and they're in charge of most things.
[–]Suck-Less0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Not really true at all. There are niches where men are in charge of most things. But there are niches where women are too. 51% of all managers are female now.
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Where are you getting your numbers? My quick check says 40%.
CEOs are overwhelmingly male.
[–]Suck-Less0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
CEOs don’t take years off... Management, finance and professional... 51.8% female (numbers from last year), and it keeps growing. Especially since almost 2/3 of all college students are female. Why? Because boys are marked down by 30% in schools in almost all categories (for the same answers as boys).
Men do win in the plumbing category though.

Love how you cherry picked the more female ones and left out, say, tech.
Yes, we are already aware of the disproportionate expectation that if a man and woman want a family, it falls on the woman to sacrifice her career to have one, while the man gets to have children without a career penalty and in fact gets a career boost for doing so.
[–]Suck-Less0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Women don’t sacrifice career, they prioritize family. They chose not to work like a slave. Plenty of men would love to do the same, but very few women want to support a stay a home dad.
Oh, and I cherry-picked the professional field, like dr, nurses, engineers, management... you cherry-picked CEOs.

You're making the very bold assumption that all men were perfect and 100% reliable as providers and protectors. Spoiler alert: they're not.
And why should they be? They're human. Supporting a family is a lot of pressure to put on one person.
Supporting a family is a lot of pressure to put on one person.
Is that why there's so many single moms?
[–][deleted] 8 points9 points10 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yes, because far too many men bail under the pressure, and the woman is left to deal with the consequences. Like always.
Honestly I think that's a big part of it. Men bail because it's just too much. Too many people become parents when they're unprepared.

My grandmother was a child in the 40s and spent most of the decade homeless, along with her parents and eight siblings. When my great-grandparents could find work (and yes, they BOTH worked), it was usually picking cotton, laying bricks or other intense physical labor. That was life for a lot of people in the US in the 40s.
You seem to have a really rosy view of the 1940s in the US that's based mostly on some upper middle class minority.

[–]death_by_1000_catsI want to get fucked by a guy who wears a blazer16 points17 points18 points 6 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
That's not the point.
Women who were "thin, well dressed and supported by your husband to stay home and raise your adoring children" were a minority in the 1940s, just like they're a minority now. Or at the very least it's a dramatic oversimplification of what life was like for women back then (e.g., "staying home and raising your adoring children" was grueling work before modern technology, especially for subsistence farmers and the like, which were common in that era). It's foolish to think that a modern woman transported back to the 1940s would find herself sitting around in nice dresses with adoring children at her feet and a hardworking husband bringing home the bacon. That image is a snapshot of reality for a minority of people at that time. You're acting like it's the norm.
Also, you know, there was like... a whole-ass war going on, during which women took up a lot of the factory labor at home. That was like a pretty significant thing that happened. Maybe this image will jog your memory. After that war, many women were widows, and had to go to work to support their children. The 1940s is just a bizarre example to make your point with.

My grandmother lived that nightmare. She got married really young to escape an abusive father. Then her husband became abusive. By her early 20's she had five children, all of which were beat by her husband, and at least one of which was sexually abused too.
She tried to leave him, but had no options. Zero higher education. Zero money, zero ability to support herself or her five children. Zero help from her family, community, or church (in fact the church elders were the worst at trying to smooth over what her husband was doing under "his own roof"). No one believed her or did anything to protect her from a man who despised her but wanted her to keep cooking/cleaning for him while he terrorized and raped his own children.
Yeah, giving women options like they too are human beings was just the worst.
[–]Hammocknapping4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
For some women that would be a nightmare.
I don’t skip around in menswear (unless I’m wearing one of my husbands oversized tshirts as a sleep shirt, no panties of course), I don’t have any tattoos, I do curse but not excessively and never in public, I never discuss my sex life with anyone besides my husband, I could be described as witty but not arrogant or sarcastic, and I’m certainly no one of the boys.
I only wear pants or shorts when I’m working out or on messy projects or if it’s incredibly cold out, otherwise I’m in skirts and dresses year round. I have long hair that is my natural color and I put a considerable amount of time and effort (and $$$) into taking care of my skin. I’m slim, but not stick thin, and work out regularly. But, I also work in a traditionally masculine field and have never felt a desire to have children.
My husband is very HV and takes no issues with my appearance or personality. There are more versions of femininity than the white washed 1940s version you wish to have all women subscribe to.

You do realize that a large percentage of women staying at home during the 50s was a historical anomaly, right? The biggest middle class ever- thanks to low international competition in the wake of WWII.
Poor women have always worked, and the vast majority of women throughout history have been poor.

What kind of "documentary" was this? Because the 1940s had plenty of women working in factories and as mechanics and stuff.
Even earlier.... https://www.reddit.com/r/OldSchoolCool/comments/92catp/a_scottish_factory_worker_shows_off_her_tattoos/
There's nothing unfeminine about sarcasm--it's a form of wit that's always been traditionally associated with women and gay men--think Dorothy Parker at the Algonquin, or Noel Coward.
That said, most men don't actually like too much femininity beyond a very superficial, appearance-based kind. And given your examples, I suspect the same goes for you.

Yeah the ignorance of history in this whole place is distressing.
My grandmother wore like... daisy duke shorts in the 40’s, I have pictures. She gasp even drove a car and had a job outside of the home. My other grandmother was an army nurse and met my grandfather whom she married of her own free will after meeting at a Red Cross dance.
This Leave it to Beaver shit is pure fantasy. Like people watching Full House 40 years from now and thinking that’s how we all lived in the good old days, and every family should have aunt Becky and her beach boys cover band move in.

Performative shallow ornamental femininity was invented by men and forced onto women. It was all fake, and once women have the freedom to be themselves, they drop the performance. It’s dead because it was never alive in the first place, it was a propped up Frankenstein corpse the whole time.
Men hate real natural femininity (see all the complaints about female nature). They hate that women are picky, hard to please, highly social, adaptable, seek to maintain group cohesion, are detail oriented, and verbal. They see feminine behavior and call women slutty/frigid, stuck up, shallow, vain, weak, sentimental, disloyal, gossipy, emotional, nagging bitches.
They also patronize majority female hobbies.

Or details that meant life or death in our hunter gatherer days. Women see more shades of colors than men, for instance. So they could better differentiate between edible flora and poisonous flora. Also caring about details and being more neurotic about the nest environment meant keeping the vulnerable young and sick and old safe from potential danger. Like from venomous snakes, for instance.

It's not "feigning literary pretensions"--I don't think you know what that phrase means? No one is comparing it to Jane Eyre; the whole point it's that it's hedonism. I just don't see where that involves a lack of detail, or lack of caring about detail?

OP didn't say women had to be infantile. This is part of the problem. Femininity is instantly tied with being a child (which it doesn't have to be) and partly why feminism did such a great job in convincing women that they should want to be more masculine.
[–][deleted] 16 points17 points18 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

[–]SaBahRub10 points11 points12 points 6 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Insecure and impulsive 'adults'.

[–]Sigma1979I love feminism AND trp0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
That's not insecurity. I really only curse when i hurt myself or someone cuts me off. People who say fuck all the time are just insecure idiots trying to draw attention to themselves... or actually children (i definitely cursed way more as a youngster, because it was 'cool').
[–]gaylordfag84 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
People flinch at slurs because they are too sensitive. Also they flinch at scars, birthmarks, cellulite, and other physical flaws because they are too sensitive & feminine. They only want to see pretty things because they are female minded. That leads to the fear of tattoos since they associate tattoos with body markings like tribal scarification etc. They are too aesthetically delicate because they are female brained. Like mtf trannys.
[–]Sigma1979I love feminism AND trp0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (37 children) | Copy Link
What a reach. This kind of thinking proves his point, feminism did a great job at killing femininity by convincing women that being overtly masculine was the only way to be "free".
[–]gaylordfag811 points12 points13 points 6 years ago (36 children) | Copy Link
But those are adult things. Even little boys shouldn't curse, get tattoos, or talk about sex. No matter the gender the majority of what he listed is what ADULTS DO. Meaning he's afraid of adult women, not masculinity.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (35 children) | Copy Link
Women (and men) can be adults and not permanently ink their bodies, swear like sailors, be loud and obnoxious etc...
[–]gaylordfag84 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (34 children) | Copy Link
If you would let your child get tattoos, curse, or have sex just because they are male than you are not fit to have children. I hope the FBI is flagged to these posts & observes you because you are dangerous. These are things that only adults (18+) can do. That's why there is an age restriction on them. They are not gendered.
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (33 children) | Copy Link
So because the age of consent is a thing, because minors aren't allowed to have tattoos, because it's unacceptable for minors to curse. These are all things that all adults have to embrace as soon as they reach the legal age? Why? Why can't a woman not do these things and still be an adult? Because she has to prove a point?
[–]gaylordfag87 points8 points9 points 6 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Why would you encourage a male to do those things but not a female? Because a female has to always be happy & serving others? An adult female isn't allowed to be angry & curse? Know what she wants sexually? Or artistically express herself with tattoos? So a you want women to stay children basically? Have less experiences & knowledge in the world than males? Which means children.
I'm just surprised at this point he didn't list taking psychedelics as one of the things he was afraid of women doing.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I’m a feminist. Some of my appearance fits the stereotype, some doesn’t.
My hair is my natural colour: blonde with some grey streaks.
I’m skinny.
I wear men’s shirts and jackets. (Edit to add: I also wear men’s tracksuit pants, because they actually have pockets.)
I wear women’s shirts and pants.
I wear skirts and dresses.
I have pierced ears but I don’t wear earrings anymore, because I don’t want my active dogs to rip them out. My navel was pierced but it’s closed up, now.
I don’t own pyjamas, so I can’t wear them in public.
I wear wedges, thongs, ugg boots and sneakers on my feet.
I wear minimal makeup.
I eat healthily, workout regularly (how unladylike!).
I sometimes shave my underarms and legs; most of the time, I do not.
I don’t drink alcohol, so I never have ‘hangover hair.’
I don’t brag about my conquests, but if a sexual discussion is taking place and I have a relevant story, I will add it if I want to.
Do I swear? Fucking oath, I do.
I’m a stay at home mum of three kids and carer to my partner.
Yes, I can be sarcastic.
I’ve never been ‘one of the boys.’ I’m a woman.
I have two tattoos that aren’t particularly noticeable.
I'm a feminist I'm short 5'4 and 110lbs with buzz cut brown hair really pale and tons of self harm scars. I don't have the money for tattoos.
No matter how many tattoos I get I still can't make myself look as monstrous as a short guy.

Coco Chanel wasn't remotely feminine except in the shallowest of ways. She certainly had conquests and was proud of them, and more troublingly, was a Nazi collaborator.
Jackie Kennedy, while admirable in many ways, arguably was a pushover--I would never want a daughter of mine to put up with what she did in her first marriage. Her second marriage was a fairly transparent grab for protection.
The closest one to a point you have is Audrey Hepburn.

Jessica Kellgren-Fozard is a proud feminist and is the most feminine women I’ve ever seen. She talks as though she is right out of a femme fatale movie of the 1950s and dresses the part as well, and also, gasp believes men and women deserve equal rights! How dare she!
I, like many women, enjoy being feminine. The 1940s style you mentioned? That’s my whole entire wardrobe. I either collect vintage clothing from the 1930s-1950s in my size to wear, or I sew it myself. I enjoy curling my hair, putting on perfume, applying red lipstick and wearing kitten heels. Along with enjoying feminine activities, I also enjoy traditionally “masculine” activities, such as gaming (especially games set in alternate historical time periods, like Wolfenstein or Bioshock), learning about military history, etc.
I also am a feminist.
My friends are not like this. Some wear jeans with oversized hoodies, or yoga pants with a tee shirt, or comfy shorts and a tank top. Some of them swear (I do it too, sometimes, believe it or not!) Some of them wear makeup, some of them don’t. Regardless, just because they aren’t wearing a dress 24/7 and aren’t curling their hair, doesn’t mean they are “trying to act like men.”
They’re proving that there are other ways to exist and be a woman.
[–]GennyXThundercunt.4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Damn, are we really going that far back to the 1930s where women wearing pants was seen as cross-dressing and punishable by imprisonment?
I guess Marilyn Monroe was pretending to be a faux-man in this outfit, since women wearing pants MUST be dressing up as men.
I guess this woman is also dressing like a man for wearing.... uh..... shorts? and a sweatshirt??
The only acceptable version of femininity to you is 1940s women in dresses, yet ironically you fail to even realize that those same women also looked like this, this, this and this on their way to work.
[–]Timely-Warthogy’all make me lose faith in humanity6 points7 points8 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Ah, so you’re changing your point.
First, it was the clothing that made women unfeminine and undesirable. Then I showed you women of that time period in “masculine” clothing, and your stance changed to something along the lines of “it was different back then, women now are just so much worse.”
You seem to have your own definition of femininity, and are trying very hard to exclude as many [modern] women from it as you can from it while blaming “feminism” for doing so.
You’re looking for a “CMV” but would rather stick to your belief that all women are “lumps,” perhaps as a defense mechanism for them not wanting to date you. If women repeatedly turn you down, it must be a problem with them being bad at femininity, and most definitely not anything wrong with you, right?
Best of luck.

It wasn't *feminists* that caused women to reject traditional, servile femininity, it was men. Sure, men want women to be servile and dainty and quiet for their own pleasure, but men do not respect or value such women-- as men themselves have said over and over for centuries.
The women you're complaining about are simply women who have accepted that men don't appreciate femininity in any real way, so they stopped bothering.

Women who don't pander see no reason for the performance. Where are the gentlemanly gestures that evoke such efforts? You're talking about femininity is gone in a culture where male identity is undergoing an existential crisis.
Spare me.

I’m an admittedly bitter short male but I have to agree with you. Women are plenty feminine for men they actually desire. In fact they get off on being the 40s stereotype for them. OP is sadly confirming his inability to attract women.

Did you look at the men in your documentary? How were they dressed ?
[–]Suck-Less2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yup, and because of this: you didn’t have to get married to get laid, your an idiot to pay for the date, and women are far less temping because the attractive ones are relegated to slices on the Internet - the rest are just obese, sidewalk spitting, bitchy and addicted to the attention of men on the internet.
Of course you could say the same about men. When was the last time you saw a man that had shoulders and chest wider than his stomach? Didn’t spend half the day playing video games (in his freakin 30s). Turned down work because, despite the extra money, the hours sucked.
Femininity is dead. Men with tits just don’t turn me on. But don’t think this is one sided. Half the male population in the US is wearing fucking elf pants today and sweats walking up one flight of stairs.

They slop around in menswear.
Chicks can wear band Ts, a pair of jeans and still be feminine
They cover themselves in hideous tattoos.
Again, tattoos aren't masculine
They swear like sailors.
Everyone swears and again, not a masculine trait
They brag about their “conquests”.
They can't have missions in life
They’re arrogant and sarcastic.
Same as above
They’re one of the boys.
They're not one of the boys and they never will be. They're only one of the boys with beta orbiters.
And nothing could be more unattractive.
I'll take a hottie who has all of your above mentioned traits over a fatty who is feminine.

Right, femininity and separation of roles is unsustainable when society is flourishing. There was no longer any benefit to women being feminine only the pain in the ass parts and so they abandoned it. If men could actually make femininity beneficial, women would pick it back up.

That’s not why femininity is dead. It’s dead because a loud minority of self-proclaimed feminists are actually trying to convince everyone that being more like a dude and being with guys that act more feminine to sleep with women is something to be cheered... I honestly think it’s a weird phenomenon where no woman wants this new age feminism BS, but group think makes them aggressively defend it... personally, I love women doing whatever they want with whoever they want. It makes them learn quicker who to filter out... and if they don’t learn quick enough they have to deal with the lifelong consequences... just like men.
[–]xFallacyx691 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Edited... but true feminism is not the perp it’s the “we can be better men than men” BS masquerading as feminism

What an exaggeration. Femininity is decreasing and women never been so lowed valued (maybe except for prehistory) but is still living.
And it probably will never really die, even if feminists want it dead, they can't go against their people's nature that easily.
Plus, there is always other countries where femininity is relatively better (Brazil is an example).
Don't go down in despair. There is still hope.
[–]nottallenoughiguess1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Tbh men are even lower valued than women are today. Now that women can support themselves, we’re viewed as utterly useless. Women have the freedom to go for looks now which is why only the top % of men are viewed as men at all.
[–]WorkaholiconewNo Pill, Leaning red, Brazilian.0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
Well, all humans are utterly useless in this time of plenty. Housework can be done in an hour and there are not big cats after our meat.
Women have the freedom to go for looks now which is why only the top % of men are viewed as men at all.
The fact is that only the top % of all primates is seem as males at allby the females. Humans were just for a time an exception because we could use advanced reasoning (Goodall research is a perfect example).
The fact women and men only go for looks, is because there is nothing else to be given or taken except for it. The era of having any other major attraction factor besides looks is over.
And again. Women are low valued. Just as low valued as men are. Because they do not have anything to give except for sex. Without it, they would be as unseen as the average men. And now sex is cheap for those willing to go the red pill way.
Or as the joke goes "Ugly women, (aka, women who are not seen as possible dispensers of sex) are treated as men".

I find it perplexing how so many feminists suppress their feminine side and accentuate their masculine qualities. Like, shouldn't feminism be a celebration of all that is feminine? It screams 'cognitive dissonance' to me. Or am I missing something?
[–]death_by_1000_catsI want to get fucked by a guy who wears a blazer6 points7 points8 points 6 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link
They don't believe that femininity is the natural state of women, they believe it's an artificial role that women were forced into as part of a larger system of oppression.
Exactly. I still have a vagina and breasts. I identify as a woman. Therefore, I am feminine and I embrace it. The catch? I embrace it in a way that suits ME.
[–]RabidusRex2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I feel you on this one. I think people get too wrapped up in what they think society expects from them. What we think of ourselves is much more important. It gives people confidence when they're comfortable in their own skin, so to speak. And confidence is a very attractive quality
[–]RabidusRex-1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
Well, maybe a small minority of feminists think that way.... or more? IDK
But fuck, they're shoving this philosophy down students throats in the universities....
[–]death_by_1000_catsI want to get fucked by a guy who wears a blazer3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
It's literally one of the foundational tenets of feminism. It's not a minority fringe belief.
[–]RabidusRex0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Well, ok, it's a foundational belief in 3rd wave feminism perhaps...
....are they the majority of feminists these days, or just a very vocal minority? I honestly have no clue
[–]death_by_1000_catsI want to get fucked by a guy who wears a blazer3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago* (5 children) | Copy Link
No. It's a foundational belief of feminism, period.
Women are every where in this deplorable state; for, in order to preserve their innocence, as ignorance is courteously termed, truth is hidden from them, and they are made to assume an artificial character before their faculties have acquired any strength. Taught from their infancy, that beauty is woman's sceptre, the mind shapes itself to the body, and, roaming round its gilt cage, only seeks to adorn its prison. Men have various employments and pursuits which engage their attention, and give a character to the opening mind; but women, confined to one, and having their thoughts constantly directed to the most insignificant part of themselves, seldom extend their views beyond the triumph of the hour. But was their understanding once emancipated from the slavery to which the pride and sensuality of man and their short sighted desire, like that of dominion in tyrants, of present sway, has subjected them, we should probably read of their weaknesses with surprise.
This is one of many many many passages from Vindication of the Rights of Woman (considered the foundational text of first wave feminism in the US) which describes femininity as an artifice and a prison imposed on women by society. Again, this is not a fringe belief, nor is it new. I'm curious what you think feminism even IS if you don't think criticism of femininity as an oppressive social construct is inherent to the belief system.
If anything, third wave feminism embraces performative femininity as a valid choice far more than any previous waves did.
[–]RabidusRex0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
" femininity as an artifice and a prison imposed on women by society "
that sounds pretty extreme.... Couldn't we say the same thing about how masculinity is imposed and enforced on men by society to keep them in line and in their role? I mean, you realize that men are also under a lot of societal pressure to fit in to the "manly" stereotype, right?
To answer your question, I really don't know what most people consider feminism these days. But I can say that my mother's idea of feminism is VASTLY different than my xgf's idea of feminism which is different than my neighbors perpective, etc...
what does feminism mean to you?
[–]death_by_1000_catsI want to get fucked by a guy who wears a blazer2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link
To be clear, I'm not arguing in favor of these ideas or saying I believe them or agree with them. I am not a feminist. I am explaining, objectively, what feminists believe and what they have always believed. Just like I don't have to be a Christian to explain that Christians believe in the divinity of Jesus Christ. You could say, "I don't know, the idea that God came to Earth in the form of a man named Jesus Christ to absolve humanity of its sins seems pretty extreme," and you might be right. But that doesn't change the fact that it's the central tenet of Christianity.
So you think feminist beliefs are extreme, great. So do I. That's beside the point. Earlier in this conversation, you framed the belief in socially-constructed femininity as a fringe belief that started with the third wave. That is not true, and I've explained why, with sources. Whether you or I agree with those beliefs is an entirely different conversation from whether the beliefs exist and are central to feminism, which they are and have been since its inception.
I'm not interested in getting into personal definitions of feminism because I think asking what feminism "means to" any particular person misses the point. Mary Wollstonecraft was one of the pioneers of feminism in the west, The Vindication of the Rights of Woman was one of its foundational texts, and she outlines very clearly that femininity is an artificial performance forced on women from childhood and used as a tool for their oppression. That isn't what feminism "means to me," it's objectively what feminism believes.
[–]RabidusRex1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
ok, I get what you're saying. Thanks for clearing thing up for me, I think this is a great discussion. I'm here to learn. I love hearing other people's perspectives, even if we don't agree.... Although here I think we have a very similar perspective on the issue.

No problem :)
I think I read earlier that you were from Thailand, so it's understandable you wouldn't know all the ins and outs of the history of feminism in the US/the west (to be honest, I wouldn't either if I hadn't taken a literature class in college that specifically focused on early feminist literature and historical context.)
Thanks for a good convo.

We pick and choose which aspects of our appearance we want to spend time on. But nothing is feminine or masculine anymore. Men wear makeup. Women wear pants. They’re just things without gender.
[–]RabidusRex0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Maybe where you live, people tend to be more androgynous, but for most of the world the lines between masculinity and femininity aren't quite so blurred. But I think we all have m and f traits and I like how open the west is about expressing those things regardless of gender
Having said that, I've noticed that folks on this subreddit (and others like it) don't realize or consider that all lot of the subjects we talk about are a completely alien concept to the majority of people. Like as if the western cultural mind-frame is the only one that exist.
Barely any of these kinds of issues are even relevant here in Thailand. Trying to explain most current cultural trends in (say) America would just result in bewilderment
[–]gaylordfag93 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
You live in Thailand? Maybe I hang out in the wrong places on the internet but I thought there was lots of lady boys there.
[–]RabidusRex1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Sure, there are lots of ladyboys in Thailand. They've been accepted into Thai culture long before the transgender movement in the West, as far as I know. So hey that's one thing we have in common!
Otherwise, the perspectives and attitudes here about things like gender or race and such are, well, just different. Iidentity politics, political correctness, cultural appropriation, micro-aggressions, toxic masculinity.... these concepts just DONT EXIST here. It's not applicable
