He first love bombed her and once she loved him, his true colours showed. I'm seeing some comments that seem victim-blamey. Can we stop insinuating that she's an idiot for staying with him and camming despite having an MBA and a previous career in finance?

There are several circumstances here that made her more vulnerable to falling victim of this piece of shit.

She lost her job during COVID and clearly had no one to rely on. She must have had previous self-esteem issues which combined with the abuse doesn't bode well for enough mental clarity to realize that her life is in danger and that she doesn't deserve this.

If we knew her in person we should tell her firmly that she needs to get out ASAP and record evidence of his abuse so that she can file a police report once she's safe. Using language like "how could you ALLOW this to happen?" would make her feel more shame and like an idiot.

Unless you are hypervigilant and have memorized a list of red flags, it's not easy to notice that someone is not good when you're not in a good place.

This is messed up, but the title doesn’t make sense. MBAs are the most garbage grad degrees. Several of my friends got MBAs solely because they were quick - they wanted to teach science and you needed “a masters” and like, 18 grad credits in the specific area you were teaching so while they were already pursuing an MS in STEM they did a side gig to get their MBA and were able to complete that in their spare time, and sooner than the degree they initially started with.

AGAIN none of that means this guy isn’t trash but “she has an MBA why is she camming?” Is silly. MBA, BFA, English degree? Not surprised if they end up camming.
