This is only true as long as the woman in question remains unattainable to them in some aspect. Usually the woman that men are "true romantics" for is either his high school crush who rejected him, a woman who is a total bitch to him, or otherwise unattainable physically or even emotionally in some form. The moment she opens her heart, shows her love towards him, and starts to act as anyone in love would too often, to he starts to take her for granted and loses interest over time. I dunno about you, but that doesn't seem like a "true romantic" to me.
