If you are unwilling to share your half of child rearing and even listening to your wife, you're a shitty person. Sure, people can change, but not without constant work on their part, which he seems to not want to do. This mother would be so much happier being divorced. She'd have more time to herself and the father would be forced to actually pay for stuff via child support. This has been my own experience and 100% worth it. Divorce is painful while you're actively separating but it's all uphill from there.

There is more at stake here than even just her own happiness. Staying in a toxic relationship like this will be teach her son that treating women this way is acceptable.

You can see they "have it all" from the outside. House, kids, dog, car...that life that so many people blindly dream of. I've been there. And I still feel it a bit when I see my peers getting married and starting families. But this is what is behind so many of those stories and happy smiling Facebook photos. You know it all sounded good on paper, but they're x years in now and they hate it. And you can't undo any of it, can't get any of that time back. They made a whole ass person and are stuck with each other for that person's life.

I'm just glad I found this community before I went down this road cause I can see ways it could have happened, and I know I would be miserable today if I had made those choices when I was younger.

In my naïve brain, to save this marriage the husband would ideally: Buy her something to make her feel appreciated, sit down and talk about how he found a marriage counselor they can work with, cook her favorite dinner, take over the laundry for a week(or month, damn), something to show her he can hold it down as well.

IDK that doesn't seem like over the top sweeping her off her feet to fix their problem would fix everything but that would be a practical first steps, right?

I can't even read this chart because it's so exhausting and overwhelming. This woman is so overwhelmed and I cannot imagine the stress and financial strain. I'm not sure why she is so scared of loosing him. As someone that has lived with a few LVM as well as alone I can tell you it is always a lot LESS work living on your own. I can't speak about being a parent but I bet emotionally she will feel better without the deadweight and stress.
