You know, it's so funny when I read all of these feminist posts giving the same NAFALT arguments time and time again when their movement steps out of line. I too once considered myself a feminist, and I guess in many ways I am... to the strictest dictionary definition. But it has so many terrible negative connotations, I really can't bring myself to call myself one any longer. Because I don't believe in equality + women's traditional privileges that men do not also receive. Just equality; and that's it.

There shouldn't be a such thing as a 'Feminist', or even something ridiculous like a 'Masculinist'. What we need are Human Rights Activists. True equality for all, every one of us.

Most hardcore Feminists are focused on bringing about feminine superiority, because equality has pretty much been obtained already. The fact that you didn't call yourself a hardcore Feminist is likely one of the reasons you were able to open your eyes to the world of injustice we live in. In that respect, you were truly a Human Rights Activist, as a lot of us are.

Actually... I'd be happier if you did call yourself a Feminist. I'd rather see Feminism redefined and reclaimed by sane, rational, thoughtful women than have it abandoned to the political harpies.

Seriously. I've been reading in this subreddit for a while now, but I've refrained from commenting. I'm a father of three kids, and a writer, and I've been interested in what I see as an overwhelming lack of cohesive masculine philosophy and declining masculine identity and influence in society for at least fifteen years.

But at the same time, I'm well aware of the good that Feminism has done in a historical context. Just in my own case: my wife is a doctor. Her income is sufficient to support my family so that I can be a supportive father, and pursue my writing and other areas. Without the efforts of past Feminists, I couldn't have done what I'm doing now.

But there's an imbalance, and an increasing craziness, and it's getting well past time something got done. So... please, OP, don't walk away from Feminism. Do us all a favour: confront the harpies, and see if you can't help return a modicum of sanity to Feminism.

And while you're doing that, maybe we can get our shit together on this side of the genetic divide, and try to come up with a coherent, thoughtful, organised investigation into Masculinity for ourselves.

There is nothing wrong with being a feminist, striving for the equal rights of women is something even we at /r/mensrights agree to. The key issue is Equal rights, for all members of society, in all areas. This is what both groups should be striving for. This isn't about men vs woman, it's about how we as people can find ways to live together in a free and fair society.

What the fuck is this? I'm a huge fan of MRM but I'm also a feminist because both rights groups are needed. The feminist movement was necessary and still is. Just because some women are assholes doesn't make the word feminist or the movement wrong. Everything has it's time and place. Women need support groups and so do men. It's how we protect each other from being fucked over by society/governments/companies.

The biggest thing you can do is speak out. It will not be a comfortable experience but it is the most important thing.

Example:

"200 people were killed, including 25 women and children"

=> So - 175 men were killed? Don't they count?

Don't remove the label of feminist. A real, true feminist is someone who believes that women and men are equal, and refuses to put either sex on a pedestal. Mens Rights isn't about hating women, it's about trying to keep our head above water and not being drowned out in the cacophony of man-hating that goes on. For as many stories of horror there are, there are also stories of triumph, mostly unheard, that involve wonderful people of both sexes coming together to meet a common goal: equality.
