I was 45 years old, single, childless and intent on staying that way when my 35-year-old date put out, insisting she was on the pill, insisting she had no STDs, insisting that I rail her bareback. So I did. That was 15 years ago. I have a 14-year-old daughter now. I never married her mother. I lost everything -- twice -- in a series of custody and child support actions initiated by her designed to A) deny me any custodial rights and B) take as much money as possible in child support.

I told her when I got her pregnant that I didn't want to be a father and that keeping the baby was making a mistake. She had no job and was living in her parents' converted garage when I met her. She had no way to support a child. Her response: "I'm having this baby whether you like it or not."

It is definitely unpopular, seeing as i think no country on earth does that. Having a say would be nice when it determines if you're going to be a father or not, and by force, or not. Its a big, life changing thing, a lot of people forget that.

No man should be forced into financial servitude when he didn’t want the kid in the first place. Especially considering some women trick guys into fatherhood by fishing out condoms from the trash or lying about birth control or false paternity (cuckoldry). The system is ridiculously misandrist.

I'm a male at the time I was 16 my girlfriend was 15 (yeah I know way too young) but when my girlfriend told me she was pregnant we decided to keep the baby because it was my responsibility to take care of my mistake head on. She wanted to adopt our baby out to someone. I said no that it's my responsibility and that I wanted to have him. She agreed and then over 3 years since our baby was born she only wanted to hang out so I would buy her things and her and her mom tried everything to get me out of the picture, they lied in court and tried pulling all the strings to get full custody even though I'm the only one that wanted the baby from the beginning. Once I stopped buying her everything she wanted she really tried to get full custody. I even tried suicide because I was losing so badly and I owed a shit ton in child support because I injured my back and couldn't work, the system said "since you were able to make 11 dollars an hour you can still make that much" even though I'm unable to work. I couldn't take it anymore physically or mentally. But she got into meth really bad and abusing our kid. The court kept giving our kid back to her saying "she's going to relapse and keep doing drugs" she didn't pass one drug test in 3 years and I was still getting screwed over by her and her mom. She was admitted into the state hospital to get clean and do rehab but she left literally the next day after the case worker gave her a ride since no one would take her. Her and our baby was living in her car, the child protective services came and got our baby and he was in there for two weeks because no one would tell them my number or address. In the end she lost compleat custody and my wife adopted him after we got married when I was 21. My son's mom lost everything she has no rights and doesn't even have to pay child support I wanted her completely gone from our lives. I hear she's whoring around in different states still doing drugs. Every blue moon she says something about our son saying how much she misses him on social media but it only happens once a year probably. Makes my blood boil thinking about it

It’s perfectly reasonable to allow men a say if they want to be fathers. One of the biggest issues of reproduction rights is women have all the options on weather they kill your child in an abortion, give it up for adoption and even abandoning it at a hospital or fire station in a no questions asked abandonment. Even raising the child without Acknowledging the father or extending him any paternity rights. So it is the least we can do when a man has made his wishes known that he does not want to be a father, is give him the option of abandoning the child. A financial abortion as it where. We can’t force a women to be a mother so why is it ok to do it to men?

I would go 1 step further that if the women is willing to surrender the child for adoption the father should be allowed to take the child as a first dibs kind of wAy. I’d assume that the father who takes it will not get any financial support by the mother since he us actually adopting his own child.

But we all know that even these reasonable requests will not get instituted so vasectomy it is!
