Amen. We put one of our cats down this weekend and I was a wreck at the vet. I didn’t want to leave and walk through the packed waiting room. My wife said “it’ll be quick, don’t worry about it” but I did. I told her “here’s the thing. No one will glance twice at our son or you crying but everyone is going to stare at the 6’1” bearded dude sobbing. Not because it’s wrong but because you never see it. Can relate. I’m a guy who wears some “girl’s” clothes (dresses, skirts, leggings, etc.), I sometimes wear makeup, I do some stereotypically “feminine” activities, etc.

My whole life I’ve been bullied for doing these things. While I saw girls being encouraged to try out male-dominated sports and being told they can wear whatever they want, I was dealing with people telling me to “man up”, stop being a sissy, and treated pretty bad sometimes. What’s also bad is how many men have this mentality to make fun of me. Boys are basically brainwashed from when they’re young to never go near or do anything “feminine” or we as a society shame them. Yet girls hardly get the same treatment, and when they do, our society rightfully calls the parents sexist.

I was book worm. I did fight some, but just for fun. No serious injuries. I could not do sports as I had no transportation to school after hours and my mother said sports were bad.

For years I had depression because I was bullied by other guys for being quieter and not joining in with them when they picked on other kids. During that time I refused to show emotion, my gfs would think I'm weak each time I had breakdowns and stressed about things. Years after i finally got help I got the emotion out and now I have a loving girlfriend that understands listens and is ready to help me. I have never been happier with my life.

You don’t have to be manly to be a man. The true people you should be resisting are the ones throwing shade at you. I should know that. I used to be bullied all the time. But I changed once I saw what I was becoming. It’s less about your right of being a man and more of how those around you wanted to reshape you to their views. People are assholes. People are manipulative. I have an aunt that doesn’t let my uncle or cousin come see us because of some argument she had with my grandmother some years back. Do I think, “Oh, that’s a woman trying to take away mine and/or my uncle’s rights?” No. I don’t. My cousin is a young woman herself. She’s also doing it out of rage for what the women’s side had “caused.”

Just because a woman was involved in making you upset, doesn’t mean it was only a woman. From the sounds of things, they might not have been the only ones pressuring you. You also have to understand that you must stand against the pressure put on you, or you yourself will become a higher target for being berated by anyone, not just women.

TL;DR Don’t stand up against specifically women’s equality reassure put on you, stand against anyone’s pressure. Otherwise, you may become that which you wish to destroy.

The problem isn't him being male. It's that he's an effeminate male. Can you imagine a jock being called out for wearing a jacket of any color? Judging by the profile pic alone he's most likely not tall, his shoulders are narrow. I don't know how that's "men's rights", people will always bully easy targets who are perceived to not be a threat under any circumstances. Same goes for women -- they get bullied (mostly by other women, of course) if they are low status (or perceived as such) as well. It's just human nature.

More than likely people already hate his personality, so they come up with reasons such as those above to express their disdain.

From my experience, when a kid is bullied, the bullied kid's actions are part of the reason.

I liked books as well, when people asked why I was always reading I'd take the time to explain that it's a good form of entertainment, and I was willing to stop reading to chat or play with them. However, if I would have acted like a prick and told them it was because I was smarter or more refined, then they would have felt quite insulted.
