I’m not here to debate this, but rather point out that it’s just one less option we have when we make a mistake. Guys have very few choices. 1. Wear a condom 2. Have a vasectomy Women have considerably more: 1. IUD 2. The pill 3. Make him wear a condom 4. Morning after pill

If there’s pregnancy, the man loses all his options…. He is at the whim of the woman. She still has a fair amount of options…. 1. Possible abortion 2. Adoption 3. Safe haven with dropping the baby off 4. Have the baby

The issue is, a woman can opt out of pregnancy, but the man really can’t. If, as mentioned, there was a financial abortion…. Basically telling her he has no interest in the child, legally, might mold her decision as well.

Let’s face it, we will never see financial abortion…. The state would be loaded down with being the baby daddy, which they could never afford. Many states have whole agencies depending upon the child support that gets paid….. and you think they will just lay those folks off? No. Lawyers make billions off this….. who writes the laws? Abortion is not now and never was a right.
Roe vs Wade was a SC decision, the SC does not have the power to create a right.
The roe vs wade decision was political, the lower court invented some 'privacy rights' in the penumbra of the constitution that simply do not exist. The SC, which is supposed to rule on constitutionality decided not to that day and ruled by politics.
Overturning RvW does not make abortion illegal. It simply makes it a state's rights matter, as it was before RvW.
To some extent, in some states, women's reproductive choices are more like men's. Even then, women still have a lot of reproductive rights that men do not have. Men have virtually none.

It's amazing that women who have always opposed men, men's rights. and equal rights under the law blame men who had nothing whatsoever to do with the SC decision and no power to affect it in any way. Many women are calling for a sex strike against men. And women also demand that men support women somehow when American women have never supported any men's issue, ever.

What do you expect of men anyway?

While I do believe in bodily autonomy, I abhor the double standard that it is legal for a woman to opt out of potential parenthood before the birth (abortion) or after the birth (adoption, Safe Haven laws, etc) while men cannot. There is no mental gymnastics or shaming that anyone can perform that justifies this or will convince me that this is right. NONE.

The fact that a woman may have to drive or fly a few states over to take advantage of an option not to be a parent when men do not and never had that option does not keep me up at night.

When the paper abortion for men is on the table, we can talk then. Equality does not mean only getting outraged when the situation only affects you. It means all people have rights.

I have to say however that Men and women aren't that different in their opinions in regards to abortion, based on various surveys. Anyways, a massive part of it were the demeaning slogans and attitudes towards Men (No utereus No opinion being a rather tamer one of them) in abortion debates in many decades. So how is it that our opinions suddenly became of importance again? A little hypocritic to say at least, Don't you think?

The bad mouthing, hate speech and demeaning attitudes didn't stopped after the overturn. Actually it got a lot worst. I have seen some of the most toxic, hateful, bigoted and misandric things I have ever seen in the period after the overturning. I think you probably have seen them too since you seem to care about the whole abortion thing. People posting about "forcing Men to have vasectomies" was again just a rather tamer example of those, widely seen on twitter and reddit and other Social medias.

Now, the most important personal reason for me here is: That Nobody gave a shit about Men's "Reproductive Rights" and still doesn't. I don't see and I am not seeing a single feminist organization advocating for the real equality that is The paper abortion alongside abortion for women(despite their own usual gaslighting claims that "We fight for equality for everyone"). Hell, screw feminists, but It always seems to me that even the Most "ProChoice" people become suddenly ProLife anytime when Someone talks about Male reproductive Rights. The people in r/ProChoice certainly seem to be like that at least🤷‍♂️.(They literally have a rule banning any discussion of Paper abortions, and don't even consider it a Reproductive Right at all.)

So yeah, Nobody even cares about our Rights, and the thing is that this particular Right is literally the same as a Women's "right" to hers, but it is never mentioned in any discussion or activism and advocacy. You can't expect for people to support you while you(I'm not talking about you as a person) literally don't even recognise theirs, less so support them.

So What is the solution? Is there any? I think there actually is.

Thing with RvW for men, it has no impact on us as we have basically no parental rights to start with.

What you are asking is like a Billionaire asking the avg Joe to care about his bank account.. The avg Joe is thinking "I have nothing, you have everything, and you want me to support you when I can barely support myself?"

In terms of parental rights, you, the woman, are the billionaire. You have ALL the rights and control, men have literally none. Now that one of your areas you have complete control is hindered, you want men, those with none to start with, to care more for your issues.

It's not that men do not care, but it's an area men have nothing, so it's really hard to get up for someone who has everything you want and need when it comes to that topic.

Until men have something to actually lose when it comes to parenthood and pregnancy, the investment is going to be low as it will go to areas we do have something to lose But as it is right now, men are just there to service women's needs in the child care world, and then we keep getting asked for more while men keep asking for just one right to start with.

What you ladies do is act like your right to abortion trump literally everything men face, no matter how much men have to deal with, a lot of women basically act like abortion rights are hands down the most important. On the "why not concerned" thing, we were concerned about not having a say i your uterus carrying a shared fetus, and we were concerned about having no say in regards to mandatory support even if we didnt want a pregnancy to be carried on (and even if the child wasnt even ours in some cases). I’m one of those men who is not concerned. I think it’s time for men and women to take responsibility for the unborn. Calling abortion healthcare is a joke. The only time it can be called healthcare is if the woman’s life is in peril, or, say, the fetus dies and the pregnancy is effectively over. That said, I personally believe that pregnancy should be voluntary, so I take no moral issue with abortion for rape and incest, and obviously the life of the mother.

Secondly, I’ve been told to my face by women who are strangers, friends and family that since I am not a woman, I have no right to even have an opinion. Online and IRL. Ok. Fine. I will take the path of Pontious Pilate and wash my hands of the situation.

Abortion is nearly equally split regardless of gender. There's about as many pro-choice men as there are pro-life women, etc. etc. You live in a red state, so you're going to see more pro-life people around you. Reddit is generally speaking a leftist cesspool hate site, so you're going to see more pro-choice here. It's true that specifically on this forum you'll find more of a muted response largely stemming from people's bitterness that men have historically few parental rights and that women have been telling men to shut up on the issue for decades, but still I'd say most users are technically pro-choice even if they won't be supportive until their issues are addressed.

Also, RVW being overturned is not a net loss for everyone, it's actually a victory. People don't have a 'right' to infanticide, and the original ruling was very very shakey. It is admittedly a complicated issue with both sides having points, and it has rightly been returned to the individual states to decide. Hopefully this ruling will get the country back on track and restore some autonomy to the states and stepping away from a bloated fascist federal government. If you want an abortion you can still get one, you may just have to travel a little for it. Honestly the way people have imploded at this ruling would be funny if it weren't so sad.

Men are saying women have snatched men's voice in this matter a long time ago. Women said my body my choice(in case of pregnancy), men were casted out from the choice of having or not having kids

Women said no uterus no opinion, women took the the option of opinion in case of child birth or abortion because they have no uterus

What we want is an equal say in this matter, what we want is an equal choice in the birth and abortion of the baby. Unless we get this equal right we have nothing to do with RVW cuz we already have no legal or social right and status in this matter

I can only speak for myself on this. I'm not happy about roe vs wade being reversed. I think it is completely unnecessary and wrong. I will also say I'm not outraged by it either. Men are already fucked by having no right to control whether they are punished just for having sex, so it kind of reminds me of that meme with James Franco saying "first time".

With abortion, a man can at least get lucky and have the woman make a good decision for both of them. Without abortion, the decision is already made without the woman having a choice either. In both scenarios, the man is stuck with whatever is decided for them without their input being needed. The only thing that changes for men is that they can no longer get lucky with the outside choice.

Basically, it is equality that is horrible for both people. Women's reproductive choices are being reduced to what men already go through. This is the exact opposite of what I want. I would like to see women keeping the same control they already had over themselves and men's reproductive choices elevated to have the same control over their own future that women already had for decades.

This is my opinion, and can't be taken as a representation of this sub, or men as a whole.

I believe very firmly in individual rights to bodily autonomy. I hope one day this can be recognized by an ammendment to the US constitution.

As this would pertain to abortion :

I believe women should have the ability to get an abortion up to the point of fetal viability outside the womb (20-22 weeks) I do not think a father should have a say in a women's choice to abortion or not.

I believe that fathers should have the same time frame to pursue a 'paper abortion' - in which he surrenders all parental rights and responsibilities. (Exept in cases of paternity fraud - where he can opt out of providing for a child he was defrauded in to believing was his at any time) I do not belive a mother should have a say on a man's choice to become a parent or not.

Recognition of a universal right to bodily autonomy would also codify:

A trans persons right to transition as they see fit (once a legal adult, or with concent of the parents)

Making circumcision without concent illegal

Abolishing the draft.

Feminists in general seem to have serious issue with 'paper abortions' and only support abolishing the draft when there are talks of making women register with selective service.

To me, this is simple, you either believe bodily autonomy is a right, or you don't. Wanting others to step up for a non universal right is hypocritical at best, and downright malicious at worst.

We've never had reproductive rights to begin with. We're probably just less shocked about it since we never had control over becoming a parent or not.

Roe v Wade is clearly a women's issue. Many of us do indeed feel for you, but we have to remain focused on protecting (or at least getting, for starters) our rights when it comes to these issues.

At least you could travel to a state where it's legal to abort your child. Men are at the whim of the woman if she becomes pregnant. All choice is hereby removed at that point.

I'm pro-choice, but pro-choice for all, not some. The issue isn't that woman now want men to speak up. The issue is that women want ONLY the men who are upset about this issue to speak up. If anyone has any differing opinions on this issue, it's back to the classic, "No uterus no opinion" nonsense. Which is why you see so many responses to Roe v Wade utilizing this slogan. For years, men have been told to keep their thoughts to themselves if it doesn't confirm, and now all the feminists need "men to speak up for reproduction rights".

I have always understood the US Constitution as allowing States to retain maximum possible self-determination. There has been a trend since the 1940s to usurp this but scrapping RvW shows a willingness to structure the country as it was intended (and written) to be.

But the federal/republic arguement is not specifically a men's issue any more than it is a woman's.

My wife and I are furious that our daughter may live in a world where she has less rights than her mother did.

What should happen is a debate where scholars are invited to detail the pregnancy process since conception to birth and then intelligent people on both sides should discuss the stage at which human life exists. I'm not an expert but I've heard some arguments.

The building blocks for the nervous system appear at week 3 and nervous system activity starts on week 7/8.
Life begins at week 6/7 when the heart starts beating.
Sounds like a plausible way to define the beginning since no human can live without a heart (mechanical hearts aside and even then they seem to be pretty limited) and humans die when their heart stops beating (generally). The same can be said for brain activity, even people in coma don't fully stop having an active brain.

I don't like the argument of "if you leave it there, it will eventually become a human life". Well, the same can be said to justify pedophiles: "but they will eventually become adults". I mean, eventually, everyone dies, so why shouldn't we be allowed to kill? Why are we even using contraceptives or pulling out then? Eventually it will should generate a human life, right? We can make lots of counter arguments here, some more sound, others very stupid, but we will never leave this discussion because both sides have logical flaws.

Abortion conflicts with the most basic human right, the right to live. In order to allow some kind of abortion, the beginning of life needs to be defined scientifically by reaching a development stage displaying characteristics that distinguish the fetus (beginning of life) from a corpse (end of life). The "pro-life" argument stops when there's a scientific consensus.

Then there's cases (rape, health issues) where there's a moral clash. Which is better? Allowing life while sentencing that child to live with issues that prevent them from having a fulfilled life or deciding for the child that he isn't allowed to even try? Still, this doesn't represent the majority of abortions, quite the opposite. So I don't think this last paragraph represents what divides people (but it should).

With that being said, overturning that court ruling was the required step to have this conversation. Otherwise, any resulting conclusions would just be invalid since the court case could still be used to overrule them. I cannot see why anyone would think that every abortion should be legal, even the ones done 1 day before childbirth. To me, that's murder.

Whether Congress will codify it into law is doubtful because it is a fearmongering issue for either party. Democrats could have codified it into law when they had a super majority.

It was passed at a time when people weren't sure when life began, and was based on a lie by NARAL in terms of how many women died from illegal abortions. Dr. Nathanson, who initially spread the lie and was the founder of NARAL, famously pivoted to pro life partially because of this reason.

With the invention of ultrasound and advancements in biology, science continues to confirm that life begins at conception. A fetus is not a parasite; a parasite has to be a different species at the expense of the host. Reproduction is a net positive. A fetus is not a cancer; development is a highly controlled process, and doesn't weaken the immune system. A fetus is not a trespasser either; the female body is designed to give birth and accommodate a motherly bond, not kill their child. The fetus is not only a clump of cells; It is a novel genetic combination that is the start of a new human being.

The only time that abortion should be legal is in sexual assault instances. Otherwise abortion is immoral.

That being said from my point of view abortion is getting enough attention and I don't feel like firece advocating for it by me is necessary. I wish conscription issue got to this point.

I come after the war but, to me, it's partly because I have the not so popular idea that abortion is immoral (not that I think it should be illegal tho)

The other part is that the overturn is not a ban of abortion, it is allowing states to ban it where the majority want no abortions anyway.

Finally, it's because men (and black women too where they had difficulties to have access to that privilege) became numb about this issue. It's just harder to care as much when a new category of person fall as low as yours
