I went to a bar on Saturday night and there was an all girl cover band playing. They had a girl with them who was going around with a tip bucket. What they don't seem to get is that not being able to prove a rapist guilty is not the same as proving a victim guilty of lying about it. If it was, that would go against the innocent until proven guilty precedent. If indeed a failed rape prosecution did result automatically in the victim being charged with a false accusation, this would be truly horrific. There are far too many cases where it's a matter of not enough evidence being available to successfully get the charges to stick. Especially considering that in many cases there is evidence of penetration, but not evidence of lack of consent.

But I don't think any of us want to imprison victims simply because the rapist made the claim it was consensual and there was no tangible way to disprove that. I hope.

What she means is (am I mansplaining?!) Women that accuse men of rape (and have raped) that are found not guilty should not go to jail.

We have a problem where too many women are raped and too many men are falsely accused and both can ruin lives. Having known a convicted rapist and having been raped (by forced penetration), there is no easy fix for either.

Rape isn’t a race. Responsibility is required by everyone. Men’s rights should (and I’m sure does) abhor rape of any gender. Feminists should (and I’m sure do) abhor false accusations. Education for both genders is needed and not just in when it happens but how to identify when it going to happen and prevent it.

The more I think about it, the more I think this (and every other feminist/men’s rights issue) is about class and wealth. NOT GENDER.

The big headlines are always about a rich boy that did this, or a rich girl that got away with that.
