Beta bucks isn't about money. It's called that because it has to rhyme with "alpha fucks" and because the role of the beta bucks is to support the woman and, more importantly, to stick around and stay with her and not leave her. But the BB guy isn't a sugar daddy, and the woman who gets with him isn't a gold digger. And she also doesn't hate the guy with a passion at the start, and he's not a horribly deformed disfigured guy with a micropenis and a bank account.

This has happened millions of times. Girl alights from the carousel at, oh, around 27, and has decided It Is Time To Get Serious About Finding A Husband. Being completely unable to get the hot guys to commit, she looks downmarket to the average guys she friendzoned and hung out with but wouldn't fuck in high school and college. All of a sudden, those guys are looking pretty good. They've got jobs and cars and apartments of their own. So she throws some pussy their way and one of them wifes her up.

She likes the guy. Genuinely likes him. Likes being around him. Comes to love him, kind of sort of. She can even have sex with him, sometimes, and sometimes it's OK, though it's not all that great and certainly isn't the knee-collapsing, back breaking, toecurling fuck sessions she used to have with the hot guys back in college and grad school. But it's OK. He's a good guy with a good job and he'll be a good dad to the kids she wants. So she gladly accepts his marriage proposal. And they will Get Married and Have a Good Life Together. With sex. sometimes. Once or twice or three times a month.

That's what a BB is. He's not Bucks. He's stability, predictability, manipulability, controllability, steady income, and financial support/help for the family she wants. His prime function is not so much the amount of money he contributes, but that it is stable, steady and predictable - it is there and it is going to be there tomorrow, next week, next year, and 5 years from now. Most importantly, he is commitment - he is with her, he stays with her, and she has a legal claim on him and his money. In that respect he is unlike all the other men she's had before. He's also Marriage Status and Gives Her the Title of Mrs. Marriage is a huge status boost to a woman.

Beta Bucks is not about spoiling, it's about propping up. It's where a guy is principally treated as an extra wallet and not as an attractive, sexual being. He's there to keep her safe, give her stability, and give her extra spending money, or to tie up his money into her kids. He doesn't sexually excite her, she might even do emasculating things to him (henpeck him, cheat on him, etc).

Did you ever say a crazy party girl in high school who ended up marrying a religious dude later on? Generally Beta bucks.

A single mom getting with a guy? Generally Beta bucks.

A significant age gap (10+ more years)? Generally Beta bucks.

A hot girl and a so-so guy? Generally Beta bucks.

He's paying for presence, and if he wasn't paying for it, she would no longer be present.

Not to be confused with women who are actually more turned on by beta traits or wives who are actually sexually attracted to their boring/stable husbands. Trophy wives and sugar-babies may be an applicable situation, but those seem more nakedly transactional, like they're closer to escorts than not.

I am sure it exists, just like gold diggers and players exist. But people tend to misunderstand the difference between casual sex and an LTR. (Disclaimer: I don’t have casual sex).

Let’s say you are a man and you are playing around on tinder. You match with an 9/10 girl who is slim, looks super duper sexy and petite, and wants to have sex ASAP. As you get to know her, you find out that she had sex with over 200 men and is a single mom and lives off welfare. She pays for a motel room and everything. Do you marry her? No. But if you’re attracted enough you may use her for sex.

A year later, you meet a nice girl who is a 6/10, but has your same values, is feminine, and submissive and cooks and cleans and has a decent job paying $60k a year doing Office Work and whatever else you like. You decide to marry/ LTR the nice girl.

Women will do the same thing. Of course, not all men or women do it. I certainly don’t and neither does my circle of friends.

You actually see this more in the working class. Guys in trades or heavy manufacturing can easily make 50-100k per year, without an education. Take an equally educated waitress and there ya go. That's her BB. Best she can do.

I think that there are women out there who had fun with cocky, more alpha guys, realized that they were bad long-term relationship choices, and then settled for a more stable guy who makes decent money. One could call these guys "beta bucks," but I think what RP overestimates the existence of is not BB but alpha widows. I think that at a certain age most women are content with the idea of settling down and raising a family with a stable man rather than having some kind of party life with an alpha again.

I've also known women who were mistreated or abused by alpha men and have no interest in them anymore. The men that these women ended up with could conceivably be called "Beta bucks," but I think that these women are much happier with them than they ever with with their former alphas.

As for actual income, as long as there is a pay gap between men and women there will be many instances of beta bucks. Men with any kind of decent steady job can be a beta bucks for a woman who has trouble finding any kind of job that pays more than around minimum wage. Women with careers often find men who make more income than them. As that Census report states, the ratio of female to male income is still 0.805.

This works both ways in modern times. While not a trait men select for as much as woman, money is cited to be the reason almost 80% of lower and middle class couples fight. Money is a huge stresser if you don't make enough of it to live the life style you want, this includes men. So men who want to take nice trips and buy new cars would probably date a woman who spends frivolously or has a low career drive but wouldn't end up creating anything serious out of it because they are too out of line with the end goals of his.

Woman are maybe just more socially groomed to vet this process early on, or men are considered more burdened to provide but in the modern double income family, money management and lifestyle is a factor for both men and woman.

So does it exist? Yes to some degree, but not by much. Most couples don't have massive income discrepancies, and the ones that do tend to only be with one partner who is quite above the medium income, or one who is unemployed. Other then that John and Jane Doe tend to make similar amounts of money to each other and date in those same income circles.

The "average family" is a pretty useless concept. Exclude the dirt poor and median family income is about 100K. This is a typical suburban family (he makes 65K she makes 35K). You can add 50-75% to these numbers for high cost areas like the nicer parts of California. Beta money makes middle class suburbs possible.

You're missing the point of "beta bux" entirely. Plenty of Chadly alpha men make more than $39,000 per year -- they're just not desperate enough for pussy to spend it on one woman. The "beta bux", however, is that desperate. He's a less attractive guy who wouldn't have a shot with that same woman unless he offered more than just his body and companionship. The "beta bux" role is not about having resources. It's about willingness to give up those resources to get a woman who wouldn't be into you based on looks alone.

Thus, the trope of the "beta bux" is that he's locked into a life of vanilla sex with a woman who used to be a freak in bed for the guys she was fucking before him, a.k.a. the guys she actually wanted to fuck.
