What are your thoughts on multiple TRPers rating super model Miranda Kerr a 4-7?

(disclaimer: I generally adjust my rating of women for age and shape, i.e. I try to rate them in comparison to other women who have similar characteristics)

She really doesn't look that stellar in the pic. Sure, she definitely is pretty - but the first comment you quoted is fairly accurate: "After all this time, it still amazes me how make up can turn a 7 into a 9."

I mean, what do you see? She has a cute face, not a blindingly beautiful one, and her physique isn't really that remarkable unless you consider being slim a value in itself (seriously - all the women you see in these Dove curvy ads have a more appealing body, at least in my opinion). The thing is: if you can make such an unflattering pic of a person in the first place, without her having any makeup whatsoever, then the baseline you're operating from is what you see in that pic.

This is less a "oh my God she's so beneath me"-comment, and more "if we rate her an 8 or a 9, what do we rate the actual 8s and 9s?" Yesterday I gave you a list of women I would consider 8s at the very least, but more like 9s, and they all blow her out of the water.

Yeah she's maybe a 7. Models aren't usually all that attractive though, they're just thin. Like really thin. Which is what the designers and fashion editors and so on are looking for. To sell clothes and shit to women. Not what guys are looking for.

Seriously though, the reason the numbers are so out of whack is because people act like the 1-10 scale consists only of fit, able bodied people ages 18-35. Ugly and old people are invisible to a lot of people on a sexual level so they forget to even count them or just stick all of them in 1-2 even if they make up 2/3 of the population.

I'd say objectively she's an 8-9, however personal taste largely overshadows this. For me personally she comes across as a 6 because I don't care for white women and she is too petite for my tastes. I might bump it up to a 7 for the large eyes and dark hair.

Back when I was 18 to 20, I ran the castings at my father's TV production company. I was about as skinny as Evan, maybe a little thicker, I was still getting action from models and actresses extremely frequently. You know why? Because I had the power if they got in or not, they weren't even trying to fuck me to get a part, they felt that was attractive and gave them the tingles.

I had no clue who she is, but i googled her and i honestly wasn't that impressed, I would say legit she's a 7 - 8. Most people forget that super models are actually very terrifying when they aren't photo shopped and covered im makeup. They usually want super models and runway models to be skeletons and then just fix them up afterwards so that the clothing can hang perfectly

I think this is a case of the women that other women and gay men find really attractive not being the same ones that straight men find really attractive.

Supermodels are chosen to sell women clothing not be hot to straight men. Women and gay men are the main people choosing these women to be supermodels not straight men. We're not the target audience.

If I'm honest I find very few supermodels faces to be above a 7. They all have nice fit bodies but I'm only talking about faces here.

A) Despite what they say, status of a woman does change things. Even on her very worst day, I have a feeling 99% of them would happily welcome her into bed to just say, "I banged a VS model." So how they rate her is kind of irrelevant compared to how they'd act.

B) The flipside of above is that because she's super famous for being hot, she gets judged more harshly than a normal, non-celebrity. It's partially an ego thing, it's partially pure cattiness, it's partially jealousy and coveting and wanting to tear down the rich and famous to an ordinary level. It's also because we're accustomed to seeing her under the most flattering lighting, with the most flattering makeup, at the most flattering angles, with the most flattering photoshop. Miranda Kerr herself cannot compare to this or this or this.

C) To build on B, we're so used to seeing women who have been photoshopped, who were shot under good lighting (never underestimate good lighting), who have photos only taken from flattering angles, who have professionals doing their hair, makeup, and picking out their clothes, that ordinary women are automatically less attractive. However, I only see this trend online or with famous people. Photo of Miranda Kerr on reddit? 2/10 would not bang. Actual girl who looks sort of like Miranda Kerr in real life? She's a hottie and has no shortage of options. However, there's a good chance that the actual girl in question has some serious self-esteem issues, but I could write a novel here--you get the idea.

What happens is that when men start comparing women with each other, there is general agreement as to "up" or "down", but lots of disagreement as to where women fit within the "up" category. Some men really, really dislike very thin/flat women, other men love them -- probably more men in the former than in the latter, but there are men in both "camps". Kerr is favored by guys who place a large importance on face and eyes, and very little importance on T&A. Same with Keira Knightley or, back in her prime, Natalie Portman. They have their fans, but their fans are probably outnumbered by the fans of women with bigger T&A, like Kim K.

Another thing that happens is that on the internet, many guys are much harsher graders than they are in real life, such that supermodels become 3s and 4s and so on in this context. That's just an internet phenomenon. In real life, most men would put Kerr in the "up" category, but there would be differences of opinion as to where she sat in that category as compared with other women.

Don't care, part of ratings are subjective. It is only a guideline used to tell stories that's hard to prove without a picture. Although if one truly finds Miranda to be a 1/10, he would have a very skewed view of the world and I posit he is borderline in denial, and his further comments are discounted. There is no objection rating.

Plus we all know people have thirst goggles and wife goggles. Rating is an attempt at objective rating while people who truly think this is wholly objective must also think everybody in the world have the exact same thoughts.

Not many girls get to be that thin in the bits where thin is generally preferred and still have good flesh coverage over the particular bones that look best softened by fat. A certain amount can be done with diet and exercise, but there are limits.
