What a load of self serving self deceptive shit. I dated a twenty-four year old when i was sixteen, the experience was not a socially approved one at all. I was not regarded as empowered, I was regarded as a shitty little upstart with daddy issues trying to take shortcuts. When it inevitably fell apart (sixteen year olds aren't particularly good at choosing which twenty four year olds are good uns) there was very little sympathy from anyone other than my mother who only sympathised in private. This is the general experience of girls who date older guys. It turns out to be the worst mistake ever, and all their friends and family were tryng to stop them making that mistake.

BTW are you of mainly middle class European descent? You see you don't sound like you've got the slightest understanding of the middle class anglo-germanic-celtic approach to this matter. Which is OK of course, just don't go messing in stuff you don't understand. Go find yourself a nice girl from the same background as you. Id say its because its a very common dynamic for abusive men to want a younger girl they can more easily control. One who doesn't really know who she is yet and will just accept any thing he says as correct. Where as a women in her later 20s and up is less likely to. Women also prefer partners who are a similar age to themselves and most just don't get why men don't do the same.

My boyfriend is 9 years older, and exactly zero people have commented on the age difference. That’s because I’m 33, so 43 isn’t that different.

If a 17 year old is dating a 27 year old, one of them is still likely living under their parents’ roof, has to obey adults in home and school, has little autonomy, doesn’t support herself, and in many ways still thinks like a child due to these social structures. A 27 year old man is so far from that in life experience, that people are troubled by it. (Edit: especially the fact that the 17 year old is still being told by everyone to obey and respect older adults...see how easily that can be exploited? A 37 and 47 year old are both adults, a 17 year old though is still afraid to contradict older people) He’s much closer to a 33 year old than a 17 year old.

There is also a difference between a man who happens to date a younger woman, and men who devote chunks of their life to composing internet treatises on why only much younger women are acceptable, and caring so much about this issue that they try to change society’s view on it. People find that distressing. Just like a guy who occasionally takes a toke at a party is different from a 24/7 stoner who’s preaching that weed cures aids and is magic.

Because men who date younger goes against the female mating strategy. Women have it plan at a very young age that they will have their fun and attempt at securing relationship with the top 20% most desirable male and then if that fail use one of the men in 80% pile with good prospect for her retirement plan (aka beta bux) when her biological clock starts ticking and she starts becoming less desirable. Men who wise up to their increase value,say fuck it to this rig game and choose to date younger. This mean less available desirable option for women to pick from for her beta bux retirement plan. Especially seeing, that more often than not a man able to date younger more than likely increased his value quite a bit (remember women only value 1. looks (height and/or face) 2. Money 3. social status in men) to be able to pull young women.

In summary. More men dating younger= Less available desirable beta bux option for older women to pick from when they want LTR/marriage.

It's not "hypocrisy"--as has already been pointed out, the girls who want sugar daddies are NOT THE SAME PEOPLE as the ones who say sugar daddies are gross.

More to the point, the general rule is that people might sigh and say it's foolinsh for someone to want an older partner, but be skeeved out by someone who wants a younger one. A 25-year-old woman who dated high school guys would ALSO, CORRECTLY be considered creepy and gross. People make fun of cougars the same way the make fun of Marvin Midlife and his new yoga-teacher girlfriend.

Also, is it possible these women claiming older guys took advantage of their naivete to treat them badly are.....telling the truth? That this is in fact a common thing that happens?

However, I am aware that exclusive preference for younger women implicitly signals that you will either leave them as they get older or lose attraction in what will subsequently likely become a dysfunctional relationship (though basing a relationship on attraction alone is weak). This is not case for me, and doubly so.

First, I am looking for a lifelong committed relationship. Part of the wish to meet younger women is practical: A wider reproductive window both to have possibly healthier and/or potentially more children, and a little more time before settling down and starting a family (though I’m not looking to waste any women’s time regardless of age).

Secondly (tying in with the first point), I don’t have an exclusive preference for younger women. I find adult women of all ages within a wide range attractive. I just tend to find younger women of adult age more attractive, all else equal. Meaning 30+ women who are fit and healthy may very well be more attractive than 20+ women who are not fit/more overweight and neglecting their health. So 30+ women have another advantage still. They tend to take their health and fitness more seriously because they know and understand more about it (and take it for granted to a lesser degree).

I think slightly younger is fine and most people won't give a shit about 5 years, even 10 isn't too bad. It's when guys are old enough to be some college girl's dad, that's when it's creepy for damn good reason. (To each their own and you're allowed to do it, but expect to dodge a lot of roasting and disapproval if you're 40 going after a 21 year old)

Personally, I think the women who use their bodies to get things are dumb and did not have good parents. Seeking older guys to feel more mature never made sense to me. But then again, not all people value the same things as me. I'd rather be equals and earn the things I want on my own.

Imbalance exists, 22 and 17 is stupidly dramatic of course but larger the gap you do start seeing people just in it for the predator aspect, not all relationships with large gaps are like that naturally but it's its factually more common in these types of relationships because it's easier to pull off. I may be a bit biased here as one older guy I dated I found out in the duration was still on the sex offenders register for previous conviction of sex with a minor, and had since targeted those who were just over the age of consent.

Young women who date significantly older (without the rich sugar daddy aspect) are often outcast from their social group because no one wants to invite the 30+ guy with them because it's like hanging around with yo parents.

I've dated older forever. It's been my friend the ones who have held objections. Not older women or men.

I think it makes people uncomfortable in general. Seen a hot guy with a ugly woman? Same wierd looks, its a obvious one sided relationship where one side is batting well above their league and people view it with suspicion and distain.

Edit; I have mixed thoughts about the accountability aspect. Adults are adults, but we are expected to make better choices, have more responsibility and generally be more worldly as we get older. Accountability is a scale not bar, and those with higher intelligence or better understanding of conciquence etc should shoulder the majority of accountability. Many men and women do dumb things when they are young, much easier to forgive than people who should have known better.
