Do the things you love unapologetically. That is what real masculinity is. Love ballet? Or gardening? Do that shit like you own it and don't worry if people see it as "manly". You will impress the people that like those things, and not impress those who don't. Don't fake it, just own who you are and what you enjoy.

Real talk, if you take any dance class you will attract many
[–]AssistanceMedical951 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
I love a man who can dance. Actually, it’s more important that a man can lead well. There’s nothing like feeling beautiful on the dance floor, because someone is leading you in a way that shows off how well you move.
But also, be truly interestED in someone else. (As opposed to interestING) We all want to feel good around other people and if you are interestED and showing approval that will make others feel good around you. Also it should get your attention off of yourself and your insecurities.
If you feel like your voice is high, look into voice training for the actor, and try to emulate an actor with a great voice.
If you feel like your putting out “just us chickens” vibe, make your interest and your intentions more overt.

The realest advice any man can take. Confidence in yourself and what you love to do is the manliest thing you can do, and women are attracted to that above all else.

Am just saying if you do ballet you have no right to call yourself masculine
[–]cobraCL 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
Odd... Men have done ballet since it's inception in the 15th century, and most prominent ballet dancers at that era were in fact men. Like many kinds of dance, ballet has strict gender roles within the performance so a man will not even move the same way a woman would.
Yoga is also stereotypically feminine, but in ancient times women were not even allowed to practice yoga and all yogi's were men.
Ballet also requires a huge amount of skill, strength and dexterity so I don't see what's unmasculine about those attributes.
[–]vaggod42069 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Yeah ancient times isnt exactly a good example to follow
[–]cobraCL 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Why does it matter? 😂 Here's a hypothetical: say in 2030, steak becomes especially popular with women, and 80% of the world's steak consumption caters to female customers. Are men who eat steak in 2030 in unmasculine, simply because steak is more commonly eaten by women?
Anyway - if we can acknowledge that masculine and femnine connotations are transient and and ever-evolving, then surely it is highly insecure and irrational to say men are unmasculine if they practice arts and sports... Originally practiced by men?
And since we are in r/seduction, we can also consider attractiveness:
Playing Call of Duty may be seen as more masculine than doing Male Ballet. However, I'm telling you now that a woman would be more likely to fuck a male dancer (typically GREAT bodies, lean and muscular, knows and understands nonverbal communication, confident body expression) than a 'manly' dude who just plays vidya.
Hell, most women would even prefer a dancer's body to a roided up muscle monkey body!

Most of this is garbage advice and a caricature of manliness
drink whisky, lift weights, play video games, beards, cars, guns etc.
That's not manhood. Sure those things are great, but that's not what being a man is about.
It's much more serious than that. Being a man is primarily about taking an active role in your responsibilities.
[–]Nicophoros4862 17 points18 points19 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]n00b_f00 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Depends on the criteria for sparring. I do mostly bjj, so I spar with a fair amount of intensity every session. Right now that’s 6 days a week. In something like boxing I like spar super light once a week.
It depends.
[–]AA-02 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
People arent giving you straight answers so I will. Hard spar at most 2-4 times a month. You can do light/technical sparring maybe 3x a week. Remember that the sparring that matters the most is the light technical sparring, because thats where you learn. Hard sparring is for applying what you learned in a high pressure environment. Therefore hard sparring does not need to be done all the time. Also remember that too much hard sparring can and will increase your chances of brain damage. Work smarter, not harder. Recommend you to train bjj (no brain damage but bad for your joints later on) or kickboxing/muaythai.
[–]MO_drps_knwldg 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This is the answer. Sparring should be taken seriously, not as a means to increase your manliness. It’s to give you practical experience with what you’ve been drilling. Getting hit in the head consistently, even if it’s not at full force, isn’t healthy. If you take a solid hook, even at 50% make you fuzzy in the head for a while. Take head trauma seriously, and don’t treat sparring as something you have to do twice a week to bolster your manliness. Approach it as means to improve your craft
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
My gym offers hard sparring everyday. Totally up to the individual and they don’t force us to. In the beginning we do technical/ light sparring. I do agree about head trauma and I certainly don’t want it. I do mma for self confidence/ self defense and for me hard sparring more than 2-4 times a month isn’t worth it. I have a tremendous amount of respect for guys who compete though.

Hit the gym with the goal of putting on weight. Being muscly and a little fat is actaully way better for your testosterone levels than being shreddded. Dress well but not like a dandy. (Girls do like dandies but noone thinks its masculine). Consider getting a haircut. Learn better more confidant posture. Speak confidently and don't be afraid of eye contact ever. Learn to respectfully stand your ground in confrentations. Finally don't go too hard into embracing your masculinity many of the best players out there have some of the better feminine traits.

Use it to figure out what you like about more traditionally masculine things. Don’t just adopt things because you feel like you should. What good does that do you? You’re trying to figure out your own masculine identity, not wear someone else’s.
Girls don’t like every feminine thing they’re exposed to, so don’t try to adopt every masculine archetype to overcompensate. You are you, you’re just exploring new avenues to understand yourself better, and learn new things.

I don’t think there is anything better than martial arts. And actual sparring. You have to get hit, even if lightly. Not just for the skills and exercise, but so you can learn from other highly masculine men. It is an amazing environment, and extremely supportive.
But it is just really hard to hold a strong masculine frame in the face of aggression from another man, unless you have some basic skill in self defense.

[–]depth_charge_ 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Lift weights, do martial arts/boxing, put kittens in microwaves. Okay maybe not the third thing. The first two though
[–]Skizznitt 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Start building up all your muscles, working out increases your testosterone, which in turn is going to give you a more masculine attitude. Start hanging around masculine dudes more, if you are still young and in school, join the football team or the wrestling team. If you are out of high school already, maybe join an adult male sports League like for baseball or flag football, go out with the boys after your games or whatever. The only way you are really going to develop more masculine traits is to be around masculine men, otherwise how do you know what masculine is?
The other things that aren't so obvious are develop a strong sense of self, be confident in your abilities, try to think about things more rationally and less emotionally.
All that said, it's not necessarily a bad thing to have feminine traits, you just need to find a woman who matches you, sometimes men with more feminine traits tend to get along with women that have more masculine traits and it works out well for both.

Glad you asked. I've had the same problem most of my life, not growing up with girls/sisters, but without a strong male role model. Growing up with a semi-absent father really messed up the development of my masculine side. Which I had to develop on my own using the internetz and vids.
I think what I would boil it down to is this: In general, women are more emotional and want to experience the whole spectrum of emotions (get happy, watch sad movies, watch reality shows with heavy drama etc. Maybe silly examples but you get the point). Another way to phrase this is that women are more reactive in their demeanor whereas men often times have a more active/action demeanor so to speak.
Wth does that mean though? Well, speaking in terms of social dynamics men tend to have a stronger frame (google the term if you're not familiar with it). In general, when two people are having a conversation the stronger frame "wins" and the other person is adopting said frame (winning and losing is a bad wording, bc in no way is not winning a bad thing, unless you're a man on a date).
Since women tend to want the full emotional spectrum they usually hold a "weaker" frame and will rather adopt adopt others they encounter to experience this. (In the best of Male-female dating interactions, the girl is invited to his "world of fun" so to speak)
This bridges alot into the attraction dynamics between men and women, but since it's rooted in femininity and masculinity I think it's still good to be aware of.
Lastly, I wouldn't necessarily say you need to engage in what is typically masculine activities(I attended karatefor many years but didn't do much to my development). As someone in the thread said, pick whatever activity YOU enjoy and do it with your head held high confidently, if you have your things in order, your masculinity will shine through in whatever you do. Good luck!
[–]SOMNIAT0 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Work out (mainly heavy lifting), listening to cool rock music, and making music in general. Honestly, being truly masculine isn’t just a set thing, it’s not really about what you do, more on how you do it.
For example, the other day I shaved my legs, which is a pretty feminine thing to do imo, but it’s not a big deal and I only did it so that my leg hair can grow longer.

I'm assuming you posed the question because you have certain feminine qualities you would like to get rid of. What are these qualities? Find them and work on them. I think one of the things you should focus on doing is listing those qualities and simply stop doing them. for example one of the feminine qualities I used to have was that I couldn't hold eye contact with women for long and would laugh wayy too much and just have this nervous shy submissive energy. So every single day, every single opportunity I got I practiced maintaining eye contact with people, tried my best to not nervously laugh and allowed silence in a conversation, and stop being so damn shy and submissive. In convo I would pick up on when I'm giving off a submissive shy vibe and force myself to exude more confidence. Over time it became very natural and I don't have to think about it anymore. Anyways, here's some general information.
I would say masculine energy is all about pursuing your goals. It's purpose driven. It is about drive, mission, succeeding, breaking through barriers and achieving goals. One way to cultivate this energy is by simply going after what you want. A masculine confident guy goes for what he wants and just like u/EmrysAllen said goes for things unapologetically (Great comment btw). I'm not just talking about going after that one job you've always wanted. You need to do this in EVERY SINGLE ASPECT of your life. You see that cute girl sitting across from you in the café that you would love to get to know. Go after her (as I said, GO AFTER WHAT YOU WANT) (note: it's okay if you feel scared, but for a moment you gotta put those fearful thoughts aside and just do it, go after what you want!). You look in the mirror after a shower and think to yourself "Damn I wish I had a better body.." start hitting the gym bro, get after it! Go after the stuff you want fearlessly, You don't care if the outcome MIGHT be failure. One thing to note and it's very important you do this: Whatever you go after do it with a positive mindset. Examples: Gym - instead of "I'm fat, it is going to take forever to achieve my dream body" say "I'm one step closer to my goal than I was yesterday, I'm definitely going to reach it someday" Girl in the café - instead of "I'm not good enough", say "I'm a confident good looking guy, of course she'll have fun talking to me". (Note: A person that truly believed they a confident good looking person isn't going to stop believing that because one person turned them down. So if you approach her and she turns you down don't let that kill your vibe or your mindset, you're still that confident handsome guy and there's still plenty of other girls that'll love to talk to you they'll start showing up one after the other. What's important is you saw her, wanted her and went after her). Off topic but this mindset helps GREATLY in conversation (I can explain in a couple sentences later if you want).
As it relates to keeping that positive mindset...tbh just keep working on yourself, keep telling yourself the positive stuff. It'll show and people will start to comment on the things you've changed and that will heavily motivate you to keep it up. Simply tell yourself you are manly and act in accordance with that. I find that confidence is one of the main things that cause people to be fearful and not act on what they want. Apart from telling yourself you're confident you can change your body posture. Your posture is tied to your emotions, a change in your usual posture will no doubt have you feeling differently. Practice walking with your chest slightly out (Think of a string attached to the ceiling slightly tugging at your chest). I've heard that network chiropractic care helps greatly with this. Confidence also comes from practicing and knowing that you can do things well. It comes from competence. If you've never played basketball before, you're not going to be confident, but if you've spent 1000 hours in the gym you'll confidently 1v1 anybody you come across. So if you ever find yourself in a situation where a fight may occur and you have no idea how to fight you are naturally going to be fearful and not confident. Essentially what I'm saying is become a man people describe as competent. Explore the world, learn things and develop key skills. Learn how to change the tyres on your car and service it. Learn how people think. Learn how to fight. Learn how to put on muscle.
Lastly, Traditional Chinese Medicine theorize that their are certain foods that will help to raise your Yang(Masculine energy), you can find a list of these foods online and try incorporating them into your diet and see if that may help.

Move away from your female family members and limit contact until you got your life together how you want it
[–]warrenrb1981 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I get what you’re saying, but you’re saying it verrry wrong. And I don’t know how to correct you.
[–]nevertextgoodnight 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
It didn't need correction. I was raised by only women so I probably understand more than these nerds do. I didn't say anything brash or harsh so don't let incel down votes stigmatize the advice but I'm happy it helped you in some way.
Historically young men were specifically taken away from his mother's care and sent out with other men to learn and grow. Now males will live with their mom into his 30s and 40s and then realize they fucked up and are doing anything to turn his life around or just giving up completely and living at home till she dies and he inherits the house, addicted to weed and porn and video games.
Moving away from my family did nothing but make me more appreciate them as human beings separate from myself. While this sub Reddit is a little better about being straight crybaby atheist simps, it's still Reddit and a lot of them still can't take cold hard truth
There you go. That’s how you say it!

Gym, basketball, football, cars. Basically anything on Spike TV
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
definitely do some sort form of martial arts. looks bad if someone talks down on you and you don’t say anything back cause you’re afraid of violence. To be more masculine, just start taking risks and push every boundary as possible

Magic phrase is when you don't want to do something that you need to do just tell yourself, "don't be a pussy" and boom, your dick gets hard you impregnate all women within a 10 mile radius and you grow a Chad Moses beard instantly."

Set a realistic, attainable yet challenging goal that resonates with you and don’t just chase it, obsess over it

Frisbee golf
Weight lifting or team sports.

The most masculine thing is probably just being secure in who you are and passionate about your interests and hobbies

Most people are talking about fighting but how about building things? Learn how to wood work, do your own home improvement projects (if you own your own place), learn to do your own mechanical work on your car, knowing how shit works, how to build things and how to fix things is the essence of man. Fighting is cool too but won't do you as much good in the real world.

Hunting, drinking, fight strangers, smithing helps too, punch a wall every hour and always open the door with a kick, and a masculine man needs a big beard

Make a heap of all your winnings and risk it all on one game of pitch-and-toss. And loose and stoop to your beginning and never breathe a word about your loss.

Practice any combat sport jiu jitsu boxing or even mma

Brazilian Jujitsu. You'll learn how to be comfortable being uncomfortable. You'll learn how to be physically dominant, and mentally flexible and resilient even when you are put in difficult positions. You'll learn how to breathe like a man, from your diaphragm. You'll develop a firmer handshake and broader shoulders because BJJ is one hell of a grip and shoulder strengthener. You'll engage in a form of male comradarie and bonding that only friends who have spent a practice almost choking out and breaking each other's bones can feel, because engaging in that level of raw physical conflict that could result in serious bodily injury but doesnt because of the caring between training partners, builds immense trust and confidence in one another that rarely exists outside of military units. You'll carry that confidence in the way you walk, speak, shake hands, everything.

anything. do ballet, gymnastics, or modeling. If you show that your interests are interesting to yourself it will interest others. You shouldn’t have shame in what you do… unless your doing something against the law… which hopefully you aren’t lol

Combat sports, literally any combat sport. Find one you like. joining a new club may be nerve racking at first but you’ll soon get used to it, everybody is super friendly and no one judges!! You will also see you confidence sky rocket along with your “masculinity”.
[–]Repulsive-Fee393 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It doesn’t matter what you do but as long as you are: Asserting dominance, not backing down, persisting, winning every fight and argument you’re on your way.
[–]AltChlo 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I've always hung around boys, so the opposite really all my mates now are lads. We go to the beach and play football, watch football which is fun. I think activities aren't really set to make you more feminine or masculine I think it's more the people you're around.
If you go to the gym it doesn't make you more masculine it just makes you more athletic. But if you go climbing with the boys or football with the lads then I think brings out the inner lad

Develop a strong sense of right and wrong. Adhere to your core values. Verbally check other people if they try to shit on you or people you love. Don’t allow assholes to slide when they walk on you. Be accountable and hold other people accountable to you.

Anything that helps build your confidence , wrestling working out karate meditation reading books traveling the world etc ( most people are more concerned with things that make them less masculine like smoking weed, masturbating to porn, heavy drinking etc. those bad habits KILL your T lvls)

Change your own flat tire. No whining, complaining or whimpering. Unapologetically do your thing whatever it is, develop an I don't give a f@ck attitude.
