I would like to echo the other people who have said you don't need a smooth line. It all boils down to confidence.

Now you might ask what is confidence and how do I get it? To me confidence is being good at something. Now some people might say confidence isn't necessarily being good at a skill and that just loving yourself and doing you will give you confidence but I think that is being good at certain skills in itself.

You just have to start practicing something and get good at it and you're going to be instilled with confidence that is going to overflow in other parts of your life.

If you like board games and you want to spend a lot of time learning various games and rules and strategies so you can have confidence in potentially winning them because you've put the time and effort into it then go for it.

If you don't like board games a different example is maybe you want to get better in tune with yourself and slow down your mind so you start getting into meditation and philosophy, the time and energy that you put into that is certainly going to teach you things and skills which are going to overflow into other areas of your life and slowly instill confidence in you.

Then at this point it's just taking all of that along with taking a risk and saying something cheesy to a girl and either she likes it or you'll find somebody the next time who might like it.
