So I'm 25, and I just went with my parents and sister on a weekend trip for some shopping a couple hours away. I'm moving out of the house very soon im buying things in preparation for that.

On the way back we passed by a lakeside restaurant, and I commented how it would be nice to try the food there one day (it's in a different country, about an hour from home across the border). My dad said it would be a great place to take a date. I just kind of ignored it and said "I could go by myself instead."

That's not the first time date ideas like this have been suggested by my parents. Ironically, I've only been on 6 dates at my age. In my mind, why would I take a girl on an expensive date who is potentially seeing other men for no commitments? I would rather stick to low cost dates like drinks/coffee/a walk in the park than drop $100+ on a date with someone that will turn out to be a fool.

I am also fine with going to fancy restaurants by myself, and not inviting any girl. To me, unless this person actually loves me and I love them back, I don't see the point of doing such a thing.
