If he had not had the foresight to keep his correspondence with these women for a decade, he could very well be facing a life sentence. It was primarily these emails, in which the accusers professed admiration, attraction, and desire ("...and that makes me want to fuck your brains out tonight") that exposed them as the colluding liars that they are.

I think that that is the most horrifying thing.

Some women like rough sex. They are adults that can make rational choices and we shouldn't judge them for it, nor the men that they get to rough them up
If someone assaults you go to the police immediately. Don't wait 14 years. Don't go to the media. Don't send them racy photos after.
People lie. Both men and women. This is why people should be presumed innocent and due process is important.

...I have no hesitation in saying that the behaviour of this complainant (LR) is, at the very least, odd. The factual inconsistencies in her evidence cause me to approach her evidence with great scepticism.

L.R.'s evidence in-chief seemed rational and balanced. Under cross-examination, the value of her evidence suffered irreparable damage. Defence counsel's questioning revealed inconsistencies, and incongruous and deceptive conduct. L.R. has been exposed as a witness willing to withhold relevant information from the police, from the Crown and from the Court. It is clear that she deliberately breached her oath to tell the truth. Her value as a reliable witness is diminished accordingly.

It became clear at trial that Ms. DeCoutere very deliberately chose not to be completely honest with the police. Her statement to the police was what initiated these proceedings. This statement was subject to a formal caution concerning the potential criminal consequences of making a false statement. It was given under oath, an oath to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, not a selective version of the truth. Despite this formal caution and oath, Ms. DeCoutere proceeded to consciously suppress relevant and material information. This reflects very negatively on her general reliability and credibility as a witness. It indicates a failure to take the oath seriously and a wilful carelessness with the truth.

I do not accept that Ms. DeCoutere could have sincerely thought that all this was inconsequential and of no interest to the prosecution. She may have been afraid to disclose this information. She may have been embarrassed to disclose this information. These would not be unreasonable feelings; but to say that she decided not to disclose this information because she thought it was of no importance is just not credible.

[71] To make matters worse, when given this last minute opportunity to make full disclosure, she still failed to do so.

Banff 2004 [73] Ms. DeCoutere’s new disclosure included, for the first time, information about her contact with Mr. Ghomeshi at the 2004 Banff festival, including the “Hit Me Baby One More Time” karaoke duet. She attempted to explain the last minute timing of this disclosure as being the “first chance” that she felt she had to tell anyone. I find this explanation unconvincing coming from a witness who had been interviewed dozens of times prior to trial, had established a continual flow of email correspondence with the investigating police, and who had her own lawyer involved in the case for a year and a half leading up to the trial. If she truly intended to provide this information, she had ample means and opportunity to do so.

I am reading the decision now, and the judge has said in clear and convincing language that all three complainants are liars.

I had initially thought that there would be no chance of charges against any of the complainants arising from this trial, but the strength of the judge's words has me wondering.

Concerning how #IBelieveSurvivors is trending on Twitter. If the stories are considered inconsistent in a court of law, than that has to be upheld... I for one don't want to live in a world where public opinion trumps a court ruling. It was so easy for people to pile on the anti-Ghomeshi train even before knowing the facts. Modern feminism is scary.

So I'm reading the full decision, and right up front it has a publication ban. Apparently the ban only applies to females (my bold):

[77] A natural assumption might be that what was actually stopping Ms. DeCoutere from sharing all of this undisclosed information, was the fear that to some audiences this post-event socializing would reflect badly on her claims that this man had in fact assaulted her.

[78] Had she genuinely feared that this sort of thinking would unfairly undermine her credibility, that concern might have been an explanation worth giving careful consideration. However she offered an entirely different explanation for supressing this information.

[79] Ms. DeCoutere said her plan was to disclose all of these things once the trial began. She said that she had always intended to reveal this information but thought that the trial would be her first chance to do so. With respect, that explanation seems unreasonable to me. Ms. DeCoutere had literally dozens of pre-trial opportunities to provide the full picture to the authorities. I suspect the truth is she simply thought that she might get away with not mentioning it.

I read through the ruling. The judge says that the only evidence that he might have committed the crimes was each witness' testimony, and the judge goes on to say the reason he found reasonable doubt/found Ghomeshi innocent was that the witnesses had shown themselves to be not credible nor reliable. It took me a while to notice this: The judge is saying that their word would have been enough if the defense hadn't shown the holes in their stories. So, you could be convicted based on a woman's word only in the absence of any other evidence, so long as she at least appears credible and reliable. A quick Google search shows this to be true for any crime, but at least it's easier to prove that you don't have a dead body in your garage or a meth lab in your basement even if a witness insists you do; how do you prove that sex wasn't sexual assault?!

Anyway, that was a frightening realization to me; probably not so much for regulars on the subreddit... They seen some shit...

I'm not surprised by the verdict.

People, including victims themselves, are never going to learn that you can't convict someone based on "He said, she said" evidence long past its selling date. Doubly so when counter evidence contradicts your story. For those who shit on this man's personality, sorry but that is no justification for charging him with a crime in the first place.

But I'm afraid this will never stop until society realizes this. Based on the climate we live in now, there's no chance in hell of such an epiphany happening.

I just watched the "Fifth Estate" presentation on this trial. It's a weekly news documentary program on CBC here in Canada.

They had all three complainants on there, the two with the publication ban having their faces greyed out.

And what they said was fucking horrifying.

The amount of deception and outright lying to the reporter lady about the case was disgusting. Lucy Decoutere deserves to be drawn and quartered for the disgusting theatrical display during her interview. Complainant 1 and Ms. Decoutere did not want to interview after the court dismissed the case probably because of the humiliation of being found perjuring during examination.

Complainant 3 was reinterviewed and said "I did not lie in court under oath, I omitted some facts but I did not lie."

Isn't that the same thing? "...Whole truth and nothing but the truth."

I wish good luck for Mr. Ghomeshi should he prepare a civil suit against the three worthless perjuring complainants and the CBC for discrediting him when he was originally wrongfully charged with these crimes.

Jian Ghomeshi has an interest in rough sex, domination, or sadism. (I didn't follow that closely... maybe it's all three)

One of the goals of feminism, teamed up with conservatism, has long been to reduce the kinds of sex that are acceptable for people (but really meaning men) to have.

MRM is a movement based in part on liberty, and it would be incredibly short-sighted to omit that such liberty must include sexual liberty, not merely free speech.

If even one witness had not changed her story, and had not omitted things, it's entirely possible that Jian may have been found guilty, simply for engaging in the kind of sex that BOTH of them plainly enjoyed together. This area of Canadian law is described as "murky".

Countless female teachers fucking their students and getting almost no time? No protest. not even a peep.

But a man gets acquitted when his accusers lied in court to try to jail him and NOW you support survivors. Even though they almost definitely aren't survivors of anything.

Fuck this virtue signalling. It keeps us fighting against damaged women who've been hurt that feminism corrupted, as well as the virtue signallers while people are trying to erode the legal system that helped him see actual justice.

For requiring PROOF before throwing all innocent men into jail, without evidence, simply on the WORD of women who claim rape. Seriously. I've sat here watching the Insanity of the Feminist Inspired Loony Toons Response to the verdict and have had to conclude a nuclear holocaust is the best outcome. Twitter and social media in general is a bane upon all humanity and the tool of a female lucifer and the bringer of chaos heralding the apocalypse.

The sooner that these feminist loons are bombed back to the stone age and end up with no time to hysterically fantasise, the better. If only hysteria was genetically linked to sterility and they all self-elected to leave the gene pool, the nuclear option would not be required.
