This is wrought with fallacies. First, if they do the same work and are ranked the same, she gets paid the same. Second, if she wasn't around when the IED went off, then she is in the company of the majority of military servicepeople, thousands upon thousands, men and women, who have not.

I really hope this isn't the type of crap MRA is pushing. If it is, I can't be a part of it.

Merlin German is the Marine in the photo. I worked with him quite a bit when I was stationed at the US Army Burn Center. There wasn't a dry eye in the house when he danced with his mom at our holiday ball one year.

As a Marine war vet, I find the use of that image to score points to be disgraceful. We know nothing about what either of those two individuals make, what they believe, or why they are in a photograph together. Maybe that woman is helping raise awareness for wounded vets, or maybe she's his date to the Marine Corps Ball.

I'm not sure I understand the point of this picture. I understand that military service is a historically male dominated field. That the overwhelming majority of male deaths in war speak toward male disposability. I have no idea what this has to do with the mythical gender pay gap?

Huh... it confused me at first but I think I get it now. Putting aside the fact that this probably falls under the general umbrella of "No memes or rage comics", I think a better choice of wording would be:

GENDER WAGE GAP?

The woman on the left earns about 19% less money than the man on the right... in exchange for never having to worry about ending up like him.
