This is one of the reasons why South Korea is now testing out "female only" cabs driven by women. They're only allowing female riders as well. We have apps here where we can pick drivers (their photos are available), too, so I also choose the lady drivers so I won't be harassed.

Cabs and the like are no longer safe ways for women to get home. I had a cab driver pick me up once and he had recognized me from an online dating app. Sadly when you book a cab here you have to give the destination to the dispatch so he already had my home address. The whole time he talked about why I blocked him and wanted to “get to know me”. He drove past my house to a dead end street and by a park and asked if I wanted to get in the front seat with him. I refused. He whined and poured and would only unlock the doors when I agreed to a date with him at a later time.

I called and reported him but this is a big reminder of why I call a friend for rides and why online dating is sketchy.

Ugh, he sounds old as fuck. I went out to a bar last year, and because I rarely drink anymore I over did it, so I was so nauseated. I’m in the Uber home trying not to puke, and he wouldn’t shut up repeating “ You’re so pretty, you’re really pretty” over and over. I told him to pull over, and I walked home, even though he still had my address.
