This was horrifying!!

To highlight, the revenge appears to be playing out months after the breakup.

He trapped her, tricked her, and she was arrested for it.

Protect yourself ladies, clearly going back to his house to pick up your belongings is not safe. I’m grateful to learn of this kind of hateful behaviour before it happened to me or a loved one. This never would have occurred to me as a risk even!!

This is how men think. He set her up, he planned this out. His ex girlfriend breaking into his house at Valentines Day??? Set up.

All the responses are supportive and talking about options for legal support, DV resources, etc. She can prove things with phone records.

But this is why I refuse to converse with my ex via phone call only in writing. He makes it incredibly difficult to do that, but this story is just another big warning about what could happen.

That poor woman, how traumatising. I’m absolutely fuming reading this🤬😤.. This is why we don’t “make peace” or give scrotes closure. They’ll use any opportunity they can to fuck you over. I’d advise cutting your losses if it’s just clothes or easily replaceable items, you just never know what they might do.

Honestly shit like this is why I don't trust anyone. I know how quickly people can turn on you. The social contract for everyone to behave honorably in these situations was never in place to begin with.

This poor girl. Let's learn from her horrifying experience. Never leave a goddamned thing at your boyfriend's house, not even a hair pin. And don't let him leave a thing at your place, either. What he brings with him, he leaves with each time. Same goes for you. No exceptions. If you aren't living together, keep your belongings where they belong. And if you are living together, take your belongings with you at the same time you move out. That will avoid these unnecessary task or reclaiming your property, or returning his to him, once things end. And remember--the man you break up with will more than likely go full scrote, and look nothing like the man you entered the relationship with. Keep your stuff out of his place, and his out of yours.

What a horrible thing to do.

I was in a similar situation last year and I also live by the rules so it was really difficult. Mine was unwanted contact with my rapist’s girlfriend, I still to this day think he was the one that encouraged her to involve the police, knowing what kind of person I am, that I am generally decent and this would be distressing for me. I lost respect for the law that day.

To those saying it might be fake - almost the exact same thing happened to me. My husband set me up. I was arrested, strip searched, finger printed and photographed, the whole deal.

I now have a police record thanks to that POS who is thankfully, dead now.

It's a spent conviction so no employer can see it but cops can. I had no interaction with police prior to my arrest. Now I absolutely hate them.

He called the police on her the first time. He made it clear what he was capable of.

I’m not going to blame her, as he escalated the situation with malice, but we each need to be the one person looking out for ourselves. ‘Mail it’ or ‘leave it on the porch’ is reasonable. If you can’t let physical items go, DONT give them to abusers. I highly doubt there was anything in those boxes of significant value.

Seems like she held a desire for reconciliation somewhere in her heart, which is why she let go of self preservation and leaned on trust.

Do NOT get on phone calls, or be alone with, abusers. They can and will lie, and believe their lie to the point where they are impossibly convincing. Another way the phrase it - Don’t mess with crazy. Crazy always wins.

This is heartbreaking. Meanwhile, a woman was brought up on charges for calling the police on an ex boyfriend who showed up at her place to threaten her (the police got angry when they found out he was an ex boyfriend. Said she was “wasting their time”). The ex boyfriend later killed her. Don’t ever trust the police. They are a bunch of wife-beating misogynists and incels.

Ugh this makes me shake with rage. Men will always show their true selves when they are denied what they want, always so intent on revenge. He was punishing her, and the consequences could affect her future employment opportunities, nevermind her mental health!

When I left one ex, I had to go back and get some of my stuff, but I made sure to do it while he was not there (I still had a key). I discovered that he used my brand new vacuum to suck up his dog’s piss, ruining it. He left trash outside that animals had gotten into and spread everywhere. What children they are!

This is the stuff of nightmares. I 100% agree why she lost all trust in police. That stuff is traumatizing.

And police always takes the side of the man in cases like this. See Gabby Petito. Because the man interacting with the police is calm and unemotional since he's a callous psychopath he acts the right way to manipulate police, the woman is crying and emotional because something unexpected and scary is happening that takes her by surprise, the police then sides with the man. This is made even worse since she's in the man's house. This is an argument to never leave things at his house.

Traumatizing. Idk if this is already in the handbook, but it should be an FDS rule to never leave anything in a man’s house until both of us are properly engaged/married and moving into a shared new space together. Not even a cheap toothbrush should be left behind.

I've never gotten my things from an ex's place or moved out without a police escort or without at least 2 male family members present. I tend to lean towards the male family members because the cops treated me like shit last time I needed a police escort. They were saying derogatory things about me and female DV survivors needing an escort in general, profane language included, so I felt rushed and grabbed just my essentials.

Someone above said this might be fake and if so that pisses me off, that someone would waste time to get a rise out of people. Spark up the misogyny in misogynists, make women even more distrustful of men (is there some secret population control agenda attempting to ensure we do not sexually interact?)….and on top of that, inspire distrust in police with the basis being a story that is not real.

I guess the only takeaway is that if you’re going to do this, you go with a friend as a witness, you both record the whole thing (check your state to see if one way recordings fly), and then I guess if you’re mistreated then you can file charges against the guy for making a fake 911 call and file complaints against the officers for their treatment of you.

ETA: If this is fake, ladies, if. It’s important to look at these posts with a critical lens, when there is so much harmful manipulation going on in Reddit, to sew discord. Take the lesson but be mindful of how much emotional energy is devoted to posts that can’t be verified.
