It is somewhat prevalent on other platforms, but it seems on Reddit that the complete anonymity has made many comfortable with behavior they wouldn't demonstrate in real life. Specifically belligerently insulting anyone for having a difficult viewpoint and the derogatory views of women (unless they are providing a benefit of course).

I have interacted with thousands of people irl and rarely see this level of degradation and disdain, yet it seems abundant here. It makes me wonder if this is a means for taking out anger and frustration or a reflection of who people really are.
