in my brief period of using online dating, i had gone one 3 dates with this one girl. we kissed on the last one and i thought things were going good. Waited a few days before reaching out to make plans and when finally did, no response.

another day went by, i text again, and she admitted "i was just going to ghost you, but you seem like a nice guy, i just don't see this going anywhere, thank you for the nice dates".

I really wish she would have just come out with that last part and saved me the anxiety and confusion, but i get the sense that kind of "i'll just ghost him" strategy is really common nowadays, especially in big cities.

i understand guys can be scary and take rejection poorly, but these vague strategies don't seem any better than just being upfront about it.

Yes, because a non-zero percentage of men will have a pretty bad negative reaction to that. She doesn't know that YOU are one of the good guys.

Failure to interpret these signals means that the men is at greater risk of getting a negative response from a woman.

Jokes aside, pretty much all of these are pretty direct ways to show you're not interested in someone. If you ask them to meet up and they say ''no'' once, they probably were just busy. If they say ''no'' two or three times, then that means they don't want to meet up with you at all. If someone leaves you on read once or twice, maybe they just suck at texting back. I've forgotten to text back my best friends every now and then. But if they never get back to you, how is that an indirect way of them saying ''not interested''?

This is pretty obvious stuff unless you're autistic. The last few ones are obvious even to the most autistic person out there. And if you are autistic, this post will at least show you when people aren't interested in you even if they don't say ''I am not interested romantically in you specifically''. This is so obvious yet men in real life pretend to be oblivious to subtle rejection and keep pushing. A few weeks ago a classmate asked me out on a date despite me having a profile picture with my boyfriend. Before that, I had already rejected him subtly, but he didn't take the hint.

It seems pretty on the money until the last three which I think are going a bit FAR and are overall a bit silly.

"I have a boyfriend"? Yeah... sometimes it DOES mean they have one. Sometimes, it just means they WANT you to think that: because they're on the street maybe instead of at a party and if she walks away, there's no one ELSE to talk to as an excuse to leave you (ohh hey, I just saw this person I have to say hell to them, I haven't seen them for AGES...)

Attacking you with a knife? Let's also ADD that IF that's happening it should be in self DEFENCE, not to inflict serious harm for the sake of only that.

I think there probably aren't many OTHER signs worth knowing or in existence. These ones pretty much sum it up. The general pattern is what's important and the general PATTERN is: avoidance. If that's happening, then there' s lack of interest OR worse, anger and a wish to actively be distanced from the man.

Coming from a woman who has often been told Im too blunt or assertive but that Im one of the nicest well intentioned people theyve ever met, men DO NOT like being rejected directly even if you are polite. I figured this out after heavily dating for many years. This aspect of myself over time became repressed when rejecting men due to my experiences.

Or they're in the middle of finals, a big project at work, handling something for a family member, taking care of a family member.

When the pandemic was in it's third year and I had decided to date again I was incredibly busy at first. I recognized it and got off the apps for a time but me being busy wasn't 'lying' and just finding someone 'unattractive'.

"I'm not looking to date right now". Translation: "I'm not romantically/sexually attracted to you."

I have only said something like this when I meant it. There are times in my life I was focusing on work, study, helping family members, taking care of sick family members. It had nothing to do with how attracted I was to someone and everything to do with not having the schedule or headspace to date.

You ask a girl out and she tries to invite friends or the group along. Translation: "I know you like me, but i'd prefer to keep you in the friendzone"

Either she's just being rude to have invited people to your event (unless it was a big open bar or festival or something), Or she thought it wasn't a date.

Leaving you on read. Translation: "I don't want to invest my energy into someone I don't really care about"

Sometimes people fall asleep while formulating a response. Or yes this. Or in my case I'm a night owl and often read things at 2am. I'm not about to respond to someone at 2am unless I know they are a night owl too and won't be disturbed.

Blocking you. Translation: "You've really pissed me off or creeped me out"

Yes that's true in most cases.

You're talking to a girl at a social event and she straight up walks away from you. Translation: "Ugh, why is this guy talking to me? I think I'm just going to leave"

Yes or she has to rejoin her guests/host, or has to run to the bathroom.

You're talking to a girl and she keeps darting her eyes around the room "Oh god this weird guy keeps talking to me! I need to find a way to escape"

Yes, this or nerves. Either way, good to back off in many cases.

Yes this is correct. There are differences between the genders in approach

For example a woman can be passive aggressive and it’s normal at frankly any age.

A man should be direct once he comes of age because being passive aggressive is weak
