I define settling as being in relationship with someone who is not you first choice. You can genuinely like them as friends but it's a second choice because you can't have your first choice. It can be ok, but it's not what you truly WANT and desire. It's something is better than NOTHING relationship. It can go from ok, just lack of true desire, to terrible.

My definition would be "something is better than nothing".

For whatever reason. It might be than you want kids and you can't have them alone, time is running up and you can't find love. Or as a man you can't have children alone. As a women maybe you can't afford good life with children financialy. Maybe you just don't want to be ALONE and something is better than nothing. Maybe you really do it for money... It can go from relatively innocent reasons based on despair to really using someone for money.

What do you think of it?

Why do you think people do it? Do you think it's mostly from despair because they are not able to find someone they truly want? Do you think it's more using the partner kind?

Would you settle? Did you settle (if you are brave enough to confess)? What would make you settle? Can you imagine yourself settling?

What if you partner settled for you? Would it be a problem? Would it depend on their reason or their behaviour towards you? Would you be fine being settled for?

Do you think it can be ok relationship or that the one being settled for would somehow feel it's not ok?
