Thankfully this statement isn’t common, but I’ve seen it enough on these spaces to want to comment on it.

One thing I’ve realized when it came to demisexuality is that it is often misunderstood - demisexuals can feel physical attraction, but for the desire for sex to even occur - even with hot people - an emotional bond needs to be formed first. Of course, degrees fluctuate as how I experience it might differ from someone else, but the common thread within demisexuals is the need for an emotional bond of some kind before feeling sexual desire.

This is not how most people - and this includes most women - experience desire. Women are capable of one night stands, women are capable of instant attraction, women can feel a spontaneous desire for sex and women have/will continue to forego emotional bonds and personality compatibility for the sake of sex. This is prime all allosexual behaviour. Now, women may be pickier than men, but pickier =/= demisexual

Way I see it, “most women are demisexual” is a coping mechanism, it’s a lie some people tell themselves to feel better about someone not being attracted to them - but also, this coping mechanism both harms women’s sexuality and demisexuality at the same time as it attempts to normalize false perceptions on both allosexual women and demisexual people as a whole.
