There’s a saying that goes something like “If you meet an asshole today, they’re an asshole. If all you meet are assholes today, you’re the asshole.” And this tends to apply to “boring” too. Less socially adept individuals tend to have trouble having conversations with people who aren’t very much like them, they have a more narrow field of interests and don’t know how to get other people talking about what they’re passionate about. (I know from personal experience.)

Most men and women alike tend to find each other a little harder to talk to and more boring than the same sex, that’s normal, but most are able to get past that enough to enjoy the company of someone compatible with them. But if you’re stuck in this mindset that women are just “blinding you with sex” and have nothing interesting to say, that’s what your experience will be. It’s not their job to change your mind or as if they’re missing out on a man who is obsessed with the concept of “who has power over who.”

I find people, both men and women, fascinating. Everyone had a story to tell and it’s great to hear so many experiences from people.

It's really weird to see how many "struggling men" openly hate spending time with women in this sub.

It reminds me of the great Tommy Lasorda quote, when he was asked about why he continued to manage (in baseball) for as long as he did: "Guys ask me, don't I get burned out? How can you get burned out doing something you love? I ask you, have you ever got tired of kissing a pretty girl?"

Unfortunately, it seems many of the guys in this sub would get tired of kissing a pretty girl and it shows. Seriously, the amount of "I hate going on dates," "women's interests are dumb" (even though there's a ton of overlap with guy interests, "women are boring to talk to," etc...

If women seem "shallow and boring," you're either choosing badly or you just don't know them very well.

I have found that the most boring people are the ones who struggle to find people and other things interesting. The most boring people are the ones who are so dull that they cannot find anything interesting to talk about among literal millions of people. And they are boring precisely because they have like one or two niche interests and dismiss everything else on this earth as beneath them and boring.

Interesting people like learning even about things they didn’t expect to find interesting. If sex is the only thing you find interesting about half the people you meet… you’re a boring person.

I find it interesting because this general idea is suggesting that men should fight within themselves individually to overcome their crippling obsession with sex so they can stop being forced to subject themselves to “boring“ women who only view them as providers.

Meanwhile, women in general, had to historically fight the entire system for the right to become their own providers and now that they have successfully done so, many of them no longer need men and are vilified for it by lonely helpless men wasting away online, whining about how boring women are and how women are still somehow using them as providers …when many men can’t even provide for themselves and are in the midst of a never ending personal crisis and self diagnosing themselves as a victims of a male loneliness epidemic.

It sounds to me like men are their own worst enemies, and they aren’t even able to fight that battle within themselves successfully… while women’s worst enemies, historically have been men in general, yet women have fought that battle and are winning it.

Based on what I’m seeing when it comes to today’s modern men and women… Many men have become (or perhaps always were) the weak, feeble, boring, simple minded ones who cannot function without the opposite sex. Women appear to be the ones who hold the most mental strength and resilience. It really is fascinating.

I get that testorone makes you lads pretty horny, but it really can't be that hard to consider personalities when you get into a relationship. I don't understand why this post spiralled into a commentary on "the problem with women" and how boring they are, when the clear issue here is a man's lack of effort to connect with a woman on any deep level. (Aka, any level that isn't about sex.)

Talk about tv shows, talk about her interests, her bucket list, her career. You're gonna find something interesting about her if you actually want to. But it's clear to me that you don't want to.

Everybody has other an idea of what other people are like in their head. If you are too myopic then you have an idealised version of them that doesn't match reality well. I agree you shouldn't do that.

As are most men. Dating has a huge overlap with finding a friend, which isn't gender specific. You want to find someone you get along with, who you like, who likes you back. Ideally, the way you shape each other makes each of you a better person. For people you aren't a good match with, you don't need to be blinded or unreasonably upset. Just move on.
