I saw that the CompHet argument has been banned as blackpill, largely because blackpill appropriates CompHet into something delusional and insane (an assertion that women do not actually desire men, and that they only go along with heterosexual relationships, basically because they lack the ability to make decisions for themselves).

But it’s worth noting that this push for “Nuclear Family Month” is an expression of Compulsory Heteronormativity, and a good example of what feminists are addressing when they discuss it.

The intention behind “movements” like this, as well as “straight pride month” and that sort of thing, is probably multifaceted. It’s an attempt to stigmatize alternative lifestyles (including alternative sexual orientations, gender expressions, and relational styles like ENM) by “normalizing” what is already the socially normative: heteronormativity. But I think it’s also obviously meant to mock Pride while suggesting that monogamy and heterosexuality are under threat the way LGBTQ lifestyles are under this administration. It’s an attempt to frame any expression of LGBTQ+ as a threat, and if this administration gets their way they will no doubt “punish” those threats.

I think a large part of fascism is socially enforcing normativity. Creating an environment hostile to all deviance in its broadest sense. Homogenizing the culture makes it easier to treat any opposition as suspect, or an assault on the national spirit. Gay people are “threatening” the nuclear family with their very existence, or with any expression of their queerness. I.e. “kids shouldn’t see that.”

Nuclear Family Month sounds cringe as fuck and I can’t imagine the normies are so insecure that this will gain any kind of traction, but I’ve been wrong before.

With all that said, I don’t really buy most CompHet arguments and think they’re traditionally used by bad faith actors to espouse sexist talking points. There was the incel one mentioned at the top. But the incels get to that idea by following down the radfem thread that frames women’s autonomy as something that even they do not understand and cannot be held accountable for.

I don’t think that any women will actually see the developments of Nuclear Family Month and think “gee, I wish I were a lesbian, but… unfortunately… I face so much more pressure to pretend to love men.”

So while this is a gross attempt at socially enforcing heteronormativity, I don’t think it will be effective in actually making people straight or making people get married. I think the point is more to make people feel Othered for not being straight or not being monogamous.

You are right that generally speaking these values that are not necessarily connected are bundled together--though any sexism or return to female gender roles is relatively mild, historically speaking. Doesn't make it right--or wrong--just adding context.

But OP misses the point. There are eternal human problems that all societies address. The more traditional nuclear family was, for all its flaws, one approach at addressing these issues. Everyone do whatever you want and be whatever you like so long as you like it does not seem like it will address these ever-present mating and family-related issues very well.

If the last moral high grounds to fight for are: THE MONTH JUNE, THE WORD "WOMAN", THE RAINBOW, AND THE FLAG DESIGN, then "LGBTQ+" has won. If they don't want these terrible hateful bigots at their events anyway, there should be no problem with another event existing. Not everything that the majority, the norm, the bland does necessarily has genocidal intent. Most people don't spend 11 months a year celebrating straightness because most normal people work.

They cried about the erasure of the nuclear family when gay people got the right to marry, they cry about it anytime a gay couple is in a cereal commercial, they're crying about it now because their supporters don't like that women aren't picking them.

If the nuclear family and "traditional gender roles" were such a great thing, you wouldn't need to be running campaigns to convince half of the population to want to go back to them. But it never occurs to these people that they're trying to sell a bad product, they think the people who don't want it are wrong.

Conservatives are maidenless. They think lecturing women will get them to sleep with guys & form relationships. People’s nature is much simpler: make women feel lonely and “weird” for not going out with some random guy they know. This is one reason dating around Valentines Day tends to be better.
