Its just to make them look more attractive or just formal attire for women. Also generally taller women with longer legs are considered more attractive which is why all female models are like 5'9+.

High heels make your legs look longer, shorten your steps, make your butt pop out more. To walk in heels, you basically have to strut like a model. They make outfits look more put together, too. It's not really about the height of them.

Why does anyone care about any fashion thing at all? The women like the way they look and the kind of attention they get when wearing heels. They're "sexy" shoes. Something something makes the butt and calves look shapelier.

I personally don't care for them, for partially the reason you've mentioned. At 5'10" (and a bit) I don't feel the need to be taller, and the shoes hurt my feet. I have to say they do look really nice though, on the rare occasion that I do wear them.

I used to wear them because they're fashionable. But they're very uncomfortable and they don't do much in terms of attraction honestly. Nowadays I only wear them for formal occasions. I've had men approach me more frequently without them than with them. I'm 4'10" if that helps, quite petite.

Because you dress down a nice dress by wearing flats with it. Equally, there are far more pretty pairs of heels than there are flats - and the flats often have no arch support and leave your feet hurting too.

I don’t actually wear heels myself because I have nerve damage to one side of my lower back and they leave me in agony, but I still love heels and really miss wearing them. Instead I live in trainers, flat boots or else oxfords when dressing up, but it’s not the same.

I’m also 5’10 so I’m a giant in heels, but frankly never cared because I love ‘em. The boyfriend is the same height as me though and relived I don’t wear them any more!

I'm 5'2 and I like to wear heels. Mainly because heels look really stylish and cute, I love shoes, I love looking at my shoe rack and admiring them. Looking at them and the visual pleasure they give is why I bought them.

Wearing them gives secondary perks, I can see and reach things better, they make my outfit look polished, they make my legs look better, men like them.

Cons: they hurt and cripple me

Wearing high heels is socially expected in some situations. For example, I wore heels and a dress for my high school graduation, because wearing anything else would have felt like a rebellious act against the social norm that a young woman graduating high school has to wear heels and a dress. Only two of my 60 female classmates rebelled against this norm, and one of them only did so because she didn't have money to buy a dress. I had decided that this was not the hill I wanted to die on, so I wore heels and a dress. It had nothing to do with wanting to be taller, or more feminine, or sexier, but everything to do with not wanting to stick out for wearing the "wrong" type of clothes and shoes.

Also, I find it very difficult to shop for shoes already, and I don't mind being tall-ish (I'm 170cm/5'7''), so I don't see a point in adding "has to be completely flat" to my requirements for shoes. I don't mind having small/low heels on my shoes, as long as they don't make walking uncomfortable.

It doesn’t matter if I wear heels or not, most men and women for that matter tower over me. I used to wear them because they are cute and they made it look like my short stubby body has legs. I stopped wearing them when I broke my ankle. Now I am doomed to a life of asking others to get things for me off the top shelves at the grocery store.

When I walk outside maybe less than 1% of females is waring high heels—I pity the fool.

A good 20% is smoking though; honestly I can respect it more if you do unhealthy shit for a drug high than simple fashion.

Personally, I think the fact that women still obsess over being shorter than the guy is proof that gender roles aren't going anywhere anytime soon, even with feminism claiming to get rid of them.

What is "obsessing" over that? Never noticed. But hey I'm 1.81m which is about average male height here so yeah a lot of males are shorter than I; that's not something I ever considered a strange thing.

Regardless, what good does wearing high heels do if you truly want to be the shorter one?

Ehhh, I think "trying to be shorter" is one of the worse reasons to not wear high heels opposed to I don't know damaging your spine?

I like wearing heels. I'm already taller than the average man, bare foot so it doesn't even matter. I like towering over guys (makes me feel like a model).
