After a personal journey, I've come to the conclusion that men cannot feel romantic love. Men only have love for a combination of specific traits, they don't love YOU, they love how you make them FEEL. What they DO feel is temporary conditional lust and ownership toward you (like you're a flashy new car). I cannot stress TEMPORARY enough, because men are obsessed with youth and newness - he will never love you as much as the first moment he lays eyes on you, when you were the most youthful, and every second you spend with him will be another second where he finds you less attractive and loves you less. If he spends enough time with you, he will inevitably become BORED and want new (younger) variety (while still keeping you on the hook as backup sex, because your feelings don't matter, you're just an appliance he owns). Men will step out on wives that have just given birth to their children, wives that are sick in bed, wives that dare to age. Men will resent their wives new bodies, the same bodies that created and labored over and nursed the very children they claim to love.

To me, men's love feels inherently dehumanizing. They love you like an object, to be prized, shown off, and protected while new and shiny, then forgotten about, resented, or replaced when it gets old and loses its veneer.

My question to straight women:

How do you open yourself up to a person that you KNOW will stop loving you WHEN you eventually lose your youth?

If I grow close to a man and develop "feelings" but dare to get older with each day, he won't be there to support me long term. If I gain weight or stretchmarks or my skin sags and wrinkles or I stop shaving or having sex often enough, he'll cheat or replace me. If I do any host of things which, again, has nothing to do with my personality or how good I am as a person, he'll cheat or at minimum, "fall out of love".

How do you love a creature which cannot love you back? A creature that can only feel lust and possessiveness, but never real love or commitment?
