Since most RPGs are designed around playing apex alphas by default, playing a male would generally be the more attractive choice.

I mean, seriously, use your head. One of the most popular dump stats in RPGs (especially if you're at least to some extent playing munchkin-style) is charisma. Coincidentally, charisma is arguably the most useful stat a person can have these days, especially when it comes to dating. This tells you pretty much everythingy you need to know about your little thought experiment.

I feel like I identify with being a man too much to not be a dude, even the bullshit like having a job where survival was genuinely a concern and regularly went days without sleep. I identify with grinding through struggle.

This implies being a woman is easier and frankly it is and if you find it being rewarding I liken it to being that character that starts out with a slight advantage and a more padded inventory but eventually your max potential is exceeded by characters that take more development.

Do I have a choice over where I'm born?

If I can be born anywhere on Earth, I'll choose male because of the danger of being born in the Muslim world or India.

If I can choose where to be born, or if I know I'll be born somewhere in the west, definitely female. There's just no contest.

Drawbacks of being born male - globally true:

Shorter lifespan. Required to work for all of my adult life. Much more likely to die before 5th birthday. Much more likely to be retarded. Required to put self at risk to protect anyone of the other half of the species who's in danger, even if she's a stranger. Required to put self at risk to protect my community. Need more food to survive.

Life's all responsibilities, and no privileges unless I happen to win the lottery with my parents. Roughly 200million people in the west live a life of privilege, if you define privilege broadly. Maybe another 200 million more people across the globe have similar privilege, and the other 5,600 million live hard lives of toil in big plantation farms, or hideous factories if they're lucky. If they're unlucky they're in hellish slums in Brazil, Africa or the Indian subcontinent.

Hell, let's assume I end up a CEO of a major corporation! Feminists love to point out how these tend to be male. Sure, that is true. But they also tend to have worked 80 hour weeks to get there. Not only that, but they were one of a thousand guys who worked 80 hour weeks for a decade to get that role.

A thousand guys destroy their lives just for a shot at the title, and one guy gets a big payoff. Big relative to him, that is.

The company, however, gets 1000 men to do the work of 2000 for ten years. In return, they give one guy a crazy high bonus. Even if they pay the CEO fifty million bucks in salary and bonuses over a decade, that's still pretty damn decent compared to the ten thousand free man-years they got by convincing 1000 guys to overwork themselves to have a shot at being CEO.

I can't imagine being a woman, I would definitely want to be a man. In fact, I wouldn't really change anything about myself at all. I have accepted myself the way that I am, and I wouldn't want to have to start that process all over again. Of course it would be tempting to be much better looking than I am, but I've met someone really hot and great the way that I am now, so who's to say that things would necessarily work out better if I was more physically attractive? Arguably it would be useful to be really extroverted, outgoing, strong, etc, but I don't really want to be that person if I have to be less intelligent than I am now.

I'm reading some comments and I keep reading women live life on easy mode. So, when my co-worker had to fight to get gloves that fit her so she could climb, is that easy?

Access to abortion services is not easy, having a period seems like it would be really annoying. I mean, in the US, having a gun is a right but health care is a privilege and considering the desire to remove a lot of women's rights because Jesus, it's almost comical. Then there's like, I don't want people to sexually harass me at work, and people are like, you're weaponizing it to get rid of men. As a woman, you have to take a ton more precaution in life just so you won't get raped, and if you slip up or make a mistake, hell, you weren't cautious enough.

On top of that, what's funny is one of the biggest arguments that people use against feminists is the infamous Fallacy from relative privation. Your problem is meaningless because other people have it worse. Like, in the middle east for instance. Now, considering that argument is used constantly, I'll flip against some people here. God damn, women in the middle east definitely live life on easy mode don't they?

Just because you think it's easy mode, doesn't mean it is. Charmander is a favourite of everyone, but just because it's a favourite and something you would want to have, doesn't mean it makes the game easy, and it actually makes the game much harder.

So yes, christ, I'd rather be a guy. I wanna be the guy! I'd also be white too. I could go to the States and the police officers would be like, well, that man is just riding a bike, probably don't need to pull him over. Being straight is fantastic, and cisgender too, don't have to deal with all that discrimination.

The only time being a white, cis, straight male sucks is when you go on tumblr and nobody likes you. Big deal.
