How is this loss of innocence so culturally acceptable as “not a big deal”? It seems like we don’t even collect data on it and this falls under the “boys don’t cry” men don’t even report it. I wonder if we were to actually use the definition of rape/sexual assault to be non consensual or inability to consent due to minor and power dynamics equally what would the data tell us? How many of us had an older girl or a Mrs. Robinson engage in age appropriate sexual encounters with younger males. I personally don’t think it’s rare and I think the fact we pretend there’s no psychological affects to study from these encounters has always puzzled me.
