Mary P. Koss thinks that it is "inappropriate" to consider men who have been raped by women as rape victims, because "their penetration experience is not similar to what women are reporting". She calls it "unwanted contact".

Additionally, it's funny how a whole generation of women can simultaneously complain about all the absent fathers, and claim all of men's problems come from other men.

Who raised us again, if our fathers were absent?

As for why our fathers were absent... Maybe you told him you didn't want or need him... And he believed you.

[–]krudler5 37 points38 points39 points 10 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Who raised us again, if our fathers were absent?

Shots fired!

[–][deleted] 50 points51 points52 points 10 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Basically.

Feminism are still doubling down on this "when we truly are the ones raising little boys they will be soft, feminist, well spoken nice consumer products for women."

And now suddenly we have all these unhinged shooters. Same fucking pattern. Single mom, she bought him the guns, he was the type nobody else would trust with a can opener.

[–]CornyHoosier 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

"when we truly are the ones raising little boys they will be soft, feminist, well spoken nice consumer products for women."

I was raised by a grandmother, 2 aunts and a single mother (all of whom are teachers and lawyers). Doesn't get much more womanly than that. I would imagine half of the Red Pill are men who were raised by single mothers like myself.

Irony: the woman who said that is married

[–]Cgn38 -2 points-1 points0 points 10 years ago (20 children) | Copy Link

Do not let anger cloud your judgment. When dealing with monsters the first rule is take care not to become one. You are on the path to being one.

Women are animals in many ways. They only want the top 10% or so of males. They will do anything to reproduce with a perceived top male. This is the root of all the world's problems. The world simply will not admit this is a problem. Almost 40% of males never have a child at all. It is 80% and above for women. They are cows as in they make their everyday life altering decisions with their ovaries they have only limited ability to reason.

This is why females have a larger problem with venereal disease and when free to do as they want they leverage everything they have for a high quality male. High quality males will often not form a permanent relationship with a low quality female without being forced to. They all try and fuck the same guys as a competition for genes and they do not even know it. They are blind to all of this in the most obnoxious way since They could not give a fuck about anyone else in the world really.

Women are not evil, they are not quite smart enough.

[–]zer0t3ch 6 points7 points8 points 10 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

You called women "animals" and "not smart enough", and this is the kind of speech that we do not need. Generalizations like these are just as bad as the ones that they make, and it makes us look like nothing more than a bunch of men angry at women.

[–]mwobuddy 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Correction.

You call women "not smart enough".

They're smart enough to control the social dialogue, to impugn all "sub par men", to mate with only the top tier men, and to take their money as well through force of bottom tier men in the state running around in blue uniforms.

That's not "not smart" whatsoever.

[–]zer0t3ch 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I'm not going to debate what women are or aren't because they're not all the same, I'm merely saying the generalizations need to stop, on both sides, men and women alike.

[–]mwobuddy -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Women have vaginas.

1% of women have to have their vaginas surgically removed or have been born without one, you generalizing sexist shitlord!

[–]kjpster 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

The ideas has some rooted construct in natural development, it does allure to the competing nature of appearance for females while men are out doing things to assert their Alpha. But you should tidy up your language a bit so you don't come across as a brute and an idiot who just stumbled across some eugenics papers.

[–]Gnometard 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

If MRAs can't handle colorful language, perhaps they should drop the M. Perhaps if they had fathers they wouldn't have gained the feminine characteristic of being offended by words.

[–]btmims 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's not about us being offended by words, its about how the men's rights movement can/will be negatively portrayed when a man calls a fellow human being an animal.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I was raised by a single father, and I'll be the first to say the rant above is an unsourced and baseless piece of bigoted drivel. You can make an appeal to biology and create a solid point, you just failed to do that in an intelligent and thoughtful way.

What you call "colorful language" I'd call "unwashed idiocy."

[–]mwobuddy 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I like you.

[–]CornyHoosier -3 points-2 points-1 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

This is a place for men. Men are blunt and at time use obscene language. If we were on predominantly female subreddit we'd follow their rules.

[–]btmims 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No, this is a place to discuss men's rights, not a good ol' boy's/men's club. I'm not offended, but out of consideration of women that come on here in support of men's rights, I try to refrain from calling them animals, and I'm sure they appreciate any others that refrain, as well.

[–]kjpster 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Nothing wrong with encouraging vocabulary, that's what men do, encourage each other to improve.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Almost 40% of males never have a child at all. It is 80% and above for women.

What? There is no way 80% of women never have a child.

[–]Lhtfoot 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I think his point was, 40% of men don't have children, while 80% of women do.

[–]iNQpsMMlzAR9 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Thought the same. There was a DNA study from a while back that found humans are descended from 40% of all men and 80% of all women that have lived. Don't have the time to find it right now but I remember that ratio.

[–]-Fender- 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Absolutely agree. He desperately needs to provide some sources for that one.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

A source doesn't exist, the average woman who has a kid doesn't get knocked up by three separate men in her lifetime.

[–]xNOM 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The original claim was that 40% of all men who ever lived have reproduced, vs. 80% for women. It comes from genetic analyses. I saw a revised analysis that came up with 60%/80%

A discussion with references is here:

http://lesswrong.com/lw/h4e/differential_reproduction_for_men_and_women/

Also related is the practice of polygamy, which many people consider to have been the norm in the the distant past. But it doesn't matter. The point is... women are far more selective than men.

Even today, women reproduce at a higher rate:

http://sciencenordic.com/quarter-norwegian-men-never-father-children

[–]-Fender- 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Exactly my point. The numbers came out of completely nowhere. At the very least, if they exist somewhere, I would have been curious to see what the sample may have been.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Likely sperm jacked/holes in condom. Then decide to carry the baby to term without his approval.

[–]Flaghammer 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

she shouldnt need his approval to carry to term, just like women shouldnt be able to abort without the father's consent unless it's medically necessary.

[–]doctor_doob 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You're saying a woman should be forced to carry to term when she doesn't want to have the child? How would you like to impose that?

[–]Flaghammer -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I get what you're saying, and either way you want to fall on this issue is definitely very morally grey, but would you rather deny a father his child or have a woman be (severely) inconvenienced for 9 months but then have no legal obligation to her child? I am pro choice but I believe that both parents should have equal say.

[–]pnw_diver 180 points181 points182 points 10 years ago (85 children) | Copy Link

If you ever see a feminist talk about men as if she knows anything, laugh in her face and walk off, wasting no more time.

(I really fucking hate how feminists get offended the moment a man indicates he can understand women but try to tell we men all about ourselves and how we should be as if they are fucking experts or something ... that such arrogance is somehow tolerated makes me want to shout at the top of my lungs.)

[–]perverted_alt 48 points49 points50 points 10 years ago (72 children) | Copy Link

Indeed.

At least I like women. Whatever I do actually know about them is a product of me learning because...I like them.

Of course feminists no nothing about men, because they despise us.

[+]JunkieHermione -37 points-36 points-35 points 10 years ago (70 children) | Copy Link

That's a big generalization. Most feminists don't despise men; they want equality. When you generalize an entire group of people, you're just as bad as the group that you're criticizing.

[–]ThePigmanAgain 19 points20 points21 points 10 years ago (20 children) | Copy Link

Most feminists don't despise men; they want equality.

Let's see some evidence for this. You know, feminists (lots, not just one) going on about the education gap, the incarceration gap, the mortality gap, the homelessness gap...

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Job injury gap

[+]JunkieHermione -17 points-16 points-15 points 10 years ago (18 children) | Copy Link

And how does discussion of these issues equate to despising men?

[–]tyl3r850 15 points16 points17 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Discussing them isn't really the issue, It's the angle feminist take in the discussion. For example, instead of saying "let's help homeless people (giving both genders an equal chance)" it's "let's help homeless women(which only benefits women)."

The problem is that they say they want equal rights, but they want men to do all the sacrificing and for women to reap the benefits, they're "equal rights" are full of double standards.

I don't think that all feminist despise men, it just seems like a fair chunk of the "active ones," not just the "tumblr femwarriors," do.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Let's help the ONE homeless woman too ugly to fuck, breed or otherwise damsel her way out of homelessness. The 99 men around her? Fuck them.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Most feminists don't despise men; they want equality.

[some gendered issues]

And how does discussion of these issues equate to despising men?

The question about where the missing discussion of gendered issues is is about the equality that feminists ostensibly want.

Despising men is a (tenuous, IMHO) step back to infer motives: an attempt at explaining why there is little to no discussion by feminists (who say they "want equality", that "feminism helps men too") of these gendered issues.

My own explanation is that it is not "despising" men that drives this selective interest in issues, but an empathy gap. It's easier to recognize problems one's in-group faces than those of the out-group; to (women) feminists therefore it's easier to see pay gaps and slut shaming and street harassment than it is to see suicide rates and education rate differences. It isn't a choice, it's a blind spot.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

They aren't discussing these issues is the point, you brainless bint.

Instead they're ranting about "male tears", assaulting men, and not giving a shit if we kill ourselves thanks to the society they've put up.

[–]JunkieHermione 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Lol, I misread something. Doesn't mean I'm brainless. A portion of feminists might assault men, but I'm sure a portion of male right's activists have also assaulted women, based on my personal experience and national statistics on domestic violence between genders. And since when do feminists not give a shit about men killing themselves? I acknowledge that too many of them found humor in the "male tears" shit that happened. That was stupid of them.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Lol, I misread something. Doesn't mean I'm brainless.

You didn't misread anything. You were, like many women, too eager to eyeroll and raise your index finger up while lecturing people with your "awesome point" to pay attention to what was being said.

A portion of feminists might assault men, but I'm sure a portion of male right's activists have also assaulted women

No, men do not assault women during men's rights activists group. Of course the number of men who hit women is nonzero, but this is irrelevant. There's a huge difference between someone who IS an MRA AND assaults a woman (which AMR thinks is proof positive that MRAs are basically rape lovers) and a group of women getting together and saying "let's go be terrorists together" and "let's go down and fuck some people up" or at the very least "let's pull some fire alarms and use bullhorns to drown out people we don't want to even speak." Which, oh wait, feminists do.

based on my personal experience and national statistics on domestic violence between genders.

Here we go with the "a man beat me, so I have the moral higher ground" (ticks one off the bingo card).

And since when do feminists not give a shit about men killing themselves?

Where do I start? What do you suppose happens when men get together to try to do something like, I don't know, have a day in which we recognize that men everywhere aren't all rock stable bastions of complete privilege and might need help? The feminists shut it down saying that they weren't consulted, and aren't in charge, so therefore it's "problematic" that we would consider doing such things.

Never mind the open calls to violence (I've also seen "dead men don't whine")

Or the T-shirts you put on your girls to teach them that men are expendable and worthless, until you want something paying for or off a high shelf, or there's a job that's dangerous.

I acknowledge that too many of them found humor in the "male tears" shit that happened. That was stupid of them

If by "stupid" you mean "par for the course, all part of feminist literature from the beginning and right in tune with the man-hating core of what feminism is, sure."

And again, you can come to me with "blah blah blah what about that woman who was raped." That's disgusting, and I'm just as angry about it as you. The essential difference is, the rapist just wanted to get his rocks off - the women that hurt men are part of an organized man-hating cult that actually WANTS men to be hurt.

[–]ThePigmanAgain 7 points8 points9 points 10 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

LOL. Try harder. Really.

[+]JunkieHermione -8 points-7 points-6 points 10 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Er...ok. You can express all the hostility you want. It doesn't change anything. I'm not going to "try harder" because I don't care about winning an online argument with someone who calls a woman a "little cunt" because he disagrees with something she said. I was just explaining how I see things, and my curiosity about why feminism is so maligned on this forum.

[–]boringcarpets 8 points9 points10 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

why feminism is so maligned on this forum.

Because no feminist has done anything for men or men's issues. Simple as that. Feminists are sexist and racist. Simple as that. Feminism is a supremacy and hate movement - feminists hate men and have proved it time and time again, therefore feminists are maligned among men's groups, it's not rocket science.

No prominent (or otherwise) feminists have ever campaigned for or written articles or started anything for the benefit of men where men suffer, they're quiet in all the places we die, where we're the majority victims of crimes, where we fill jails and get sentenced longer than women, where we die at work, where selective service only applies to men, bodily autonomy, homelessness, suicide. The most feminists have ever done is lip service "feminism is for men too" but never anything substantial. Meanwhile all your authors and journalists peddle more and more man hate. So, where are your unicorn feminists that are for actual equality? Point them out. Go ahead. Because other than CHS, Karen and Lauren there are none and those three are hated by feminists

[–]ThePigmanAgain 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm sure he meant try to read a little harder. Discussion of those issues would indicate the opposite of despising men. It would be a step towards equality.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I don't see where he called you a little cunt.

[–]JunkieHermione -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

He called Emma Watson that, actually.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Imagine what they'd have called Daniel Radcliffe if he'd given a speech like

"My mother wasn't there for me because feminists socialized her to believe her place was out earning a living instead of being at home baking cookies. I grew up knowing the pain of not having a mother that was truly there for me.

Therefore I invite women everywhere to join in for the SheForHe campaign, together we can ensure that men everywhere have a hot steak and a cold beer waiting for him at home when he gets home from a hard day, that blowjobs will become mandatory, and you girls might consider that men have needs and start putting out a lot more and to a lot more men."

"Little cunt" is the fucking LEAST we'd hear. First 300lb shaven headed lesbian that sees him would hit him in the face with a 2x4 AND get away with it, because pussy pass and no woman ever gets arrested for that kind of thing (and if she is good luck with her being charged) but God forbid he should defend himself, he'd be under a pile of cops and whiteknights faster than you can say "How can she slap?"

Most feminists don't despise men; they want equality.

Maybe if you consider all feminists from 1915 to 2015 then "most" want equality.

If you are looking at "most" feminists alive today, they don't want equality.

That's a joke.

It's a joke to say that feminists despise men. Besides Tumblr feminists, I just don't see that happening in real life.

I mean, reading through this men's rights forum and seeing all of the hatred and stereotypes against feminists makes it seem like you guys are hating on women. Consider the fact that a sizable percentage of modern women identify as feminists and believe the term to mean equality for both genders. I just don't get the animosity against the word "feminist."

Sure, there are shitty individuals who call themselves feminists out there. But there's also Emma Watson, Malala Yousafzai, and many more notable modern women who identify as feminists and have said nothing about disliking men.

I suppose those of us who truly desire equality could start calling ourselves egalitarians instead. But what's so wrong with the word feminism?

[–]snoopyzanus 22 points23 points24 points 10 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

...Emma Watson, Malala Yousafzai...

Are you aware that both of these women are figureheads for charities that specifically only help girls and women? They aren't determining who needs help based on need.

It initially looks noble, because hey, look at all of those girls and women they are helping, but it's the equivalent of cutting a photo in half and only showing the half with the beaming face of a starving girl who is being given food--hiding the other half, which shows her still starving brother looking on in misery as he gets nothing.

And then they point to that girl's photo, and the countless others like it, to show how in need girls and women are, as if that were the whole picture.

Let's take the issue of education:

A country with only girls being excluded from education?--let's help the girls! Great. But then... A country where poverty is preventing both boys and girls from getting an education in roughly equal numbers?--let's help the girls! Both girls and boys being forced out of getting an education by religious extremists? (Boko Haram kidnaps girls and burns boys alive inside their schools)--let's help the girls!

If the issue were dealt with based on need, the girls in need would get help--and so would the boys. But these feminists would prefer any resources they have to go to girls, based on their gender alone--better to go to another house to feed another girl than to give food to that girl's starving brother. Can't run the risk that a single girl goes without, no matter how much food there is.

It"s a kind of banal evil.

Banal evil is can only be understood by contrast with radical evil, because radical evil was the predominant concept when Hannah Arendt wrote about the banality of evil. Radical evil means that one has decided to do evil, that in their heart they are set upon doing something that they know is wrong, and prior to Arendt philosophers believed that all evil acts were of this sort. Banal evil is characterized by a belief that what one is doing is not evil, rather, what they are engaging in is a behavior that is, or has been, normalized by the society in which they reside.

Only helping girls and women is becoming increasingly normalized by feminists, with charities openly declaring their intent to only help girls and women, even on ungendered issues.

And when I hear feminists say that it's only in this case, or this time, I'm reminded of the feminist teacher who only let girls play with the Legos.

"I always tell the boys, 'You're going to have a turn' — and I'm like, 'Yeah, when hell freezes over' in my head,"

Edit: changed "support or run" to "are figureheads for"

Feminism is about equality for both genders? Then why not call it humanism? Modern day feminists by and large are not looking for equality, but rather trying to make conditions better for them. There is a stark contrast between the two. I will not fault anyone for trying to make their own life better. But I will if they do it at the expense of others which is something you see in many feminist motifs today. You see a massive shift to force responsibility on all men for the actions of a minuscule few.

Take rape accusations especially on college campuses these days. Feminists unquestioningly side with the female party, before any facts are known. In this instances the very accusation of rape is enough to fuck over a mans life. It's like due process is thrown out the window. But that's a whole separate tangent.

Feminism is masquerading as equality for both genders, when its actions speak the exact opposite.

I just realized it was idiotic to type all that out because you're mind is made up. Oh well

what's wrong with the word feminist by the way? The fact it means "for women" and completely ignores the masculine half of the equation. So no, I discredit anyone who suggests feminism is synonymous with equality

Do you believe in god?

Yes?

Then you're a Muslim.

This is the same line of reasoning. You might be of a dozen other faiths or you might just believe in some obscure higher power with no attached doctrine.

Feminism is an ideology which at its core is misandrist. It is not the same as women's rights. Women already have more rights than men in law.

[–]JunkieHermione 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

...since when did I assume that? "Every single woman on this planet identifies as feminist" appears nowhere in my comment. At all.

A sizable portion (this does not mean all. lmao) of Western women identify as feminists. When you lump all feminists together and say that they "despise men," and then assign this forum's frequently touted qualities to them ("shrieking," "ugly," "money-hungry," etc.), it just seems distasteful.

I'm a feminist, and I may be shrieking to some, ugly perhaps, that's subjective, but I certainly don't fit all of the negative qualities that are consistently attributed to feminists on this forum. For example, I don't despise men and believe that they should be treated equally in the courtroom, in domestic violence situations, in rape cases, etc. And I know many, many other feminists who agree with me. It's irksome to see so many people on this forum acting like feminists are all man-haters. People on here are so vehemently against feminists lumping men's rights activists together as misogynists, so why do it the other way around?

E.g., it's frequently said that a feminist will "shriek/cry/yell 'MISOGYNY'!" if a men's rights activist disagrees with her. Do people on here really want to do the opposite where they're crying "man-hater/misandry" and can't separate the moderate, radical, and fringe feminist ideologies?

Fine.

Then maybe you should spend less time complaining about people criticizing feminism and more validating what they have to say while speaking out against the ones in your movement with the most power and drive to advocate for laws that harm men.

It's funny whenever someone criticizes feminism or certain feminists, you come crawling out of the woodwork to extoll the virtues of a movement you claim is about equality. Rather than using that time to back up your sales pitch with proof.

For example, I don't despise men and believe that they should be treated equally in the courtroom, in domestic violence situations, in rape cases, etc.

Then you and your feminist friends should confront those who don't. Because these feminists who advocate the opposite are running the movement. They're not straw feminists by the way, but feminists in powerful positions.

I've got news for you: There is nothing to distinguish these groups anymore. One person may appear moderate but radical in other aspects the more they're critiqued. It's getting virtually impossible to tell anyone apart. Based on the actions of these people.

If women were dying on the job at the rate that men do, you'd see a shitstorm of epic proportions. You'd see the same shitstorm if women committed suicide at the same rate as men, or if they died 5-7 years earlier than men, or if women were only 40% of college students, or if women were the VAST majority of homeless people.

But back here in this reality, men commit suicide way more often than women, men are about 40% of college students now, men are the vast majority of homeless people, homeless men don't have near as much help available to them as homeless women do, and men die on the job way more frequently than women do.

Do you hear feminists complaining about how none of this is fair? Nope, not a peep. They'd rather complain about slut-shaming or catcalling. Even if they don't hate men, the idea that they're all about equality when ignoring the serious issues that men as a group face is completely ridiculous.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I read an article once, wish I could find it again, where a feminist was complaining about male suicide. She was astonished that it was so high and bemoaned that we didn't take it seriously - if it was women dying at those rates, they'd have specially colored helmets in the NFL.

She then said it was blah blah men too macho to cry blah blah toxic patriarchy all men's fault and we should bully each other to go sit around in drum circles and cry....

...BECAUSE A MAN IS WORTH NOTHING TO THE WOMEN IN HIS LIFE IF HE'S DEAD. HE CANNOT PROVIDE FOR HIS WIFE AND DAUGHTERS IF HE ISN'T ALIVE AND ON THE JOB.

[–]CornyHoosier 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Most feminists don't despise men; they want equality.

Then where are then on men's issues!?

Seriously. Tell me one issue that is male-only that they are trying to make better? They don't want equality. They don't want to push women up. They simply want to bring men down.

[–]JunkieHermione 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Many feminists are taking equal interest in the issues of domestic violence towards men (not male only, but it's treated so differently that it's often addressed a separate issue) and male suicide rates. I've noticed that there is activism for that. After reading these responses, yes, maybe feminism is a bit too slanted towards women's issues--that could be considered. But it doesn't completely ignore all men's issues, nor does it despise men as a whole, at least in my opinion.

There's also the argument that the Egalitarian "movement" seems to consist only of talking about how much feminists apparently hate men. It's bringing down women's issues and casting the women who are feminists as "shrieking harpies" in order to bring its own agenda up. People get so angry when feminists laugh about male tears and the fedora-wearing virgin trope, but quite a few (not the majority of) MRA activists stereotype women as money-hungry attention whores.

[–]CornyHoosier 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women are great, but no one is inherently at fault or exempted from blame because of what junk they have between their legs.

[–]apullin 38 points39 points40 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

They are just using emotional shaming as a weapon.

If someone claims that emotional shaming is a problem for women, and that it should be ended, but is entirely willing to use emotional shaming against men for the purposes of ... whatever, likely to help their own self-esteem, then they are morally inconsistent.

[–]BookOfGQuan 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It's hardly coincidental that feminists condemn "shaming" at every opportunity and yet employ it themselves whenever they find it useful. The very reason they're so sensitive to it is because they wield it. It's their weapon. Other people aren't allowed to come along and pick up their knife and stab them with it. That would be outrageous.

Men don't want to sit on a couch and talk about feelings. I'd rather build something or work with my hands. Men don't bond, open up, or heal emotionally like women do.

Demands that men conform to feminine standards is a major problem as to why men don't seek help. Gynocentrism is the problem not patriarchy.

[–]ExpendableOne 11 points12 points13 points 10 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I've had that argument before with a feminist who genuinely believe that male suicide rates was because "men kill themselves more because they can't talk about their feelings or cry". Just goes to show just how incredibly out of touch they are with reality or men in general, or how much they overvalue traditionally feminine solutions(which might work with women, because they also deal with completely different problems, with entirely different means of support).

Suicides, or even most of men's mental help issues, aren't going to be solved by men talking about their feelings, they would be solved by solving the conditions and social issues that lead to the depressions and suicides. Talking about how the social abuse or isolation you're taking isn't going to solve the social abuse or isolation you're facing, nor is it going to solve the issue of people not caring or pulling away when men talk because they don't want to be bothered with it. Feminism isn't exactly doing anything to teach women to treat men with love, understanding and compassion either(quite the opposite).

"men kill themselves more because they can't talk about their feelings or cry".

Maybe they should stop calling guys that cry fagots...

[–]ExpendableOne 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

But, again, calling guys who cry "faggots" is not what was making them cry in the first place. Not calling them "faggots" is not going to help them any more or less. Most men couldn't care less about other men calling them faggots anyway, generally men get over that and eventually learn to laugh about it(and, most of the time, the guys doing the name calling were doing it playfully). It's only when it's coming from people those men want in their lives(typically women) or when it's used to legitimately discriminate against them because they are men(also predominantly by women) that it can be especially hurtful. But, even then, that's still missing the point of why those men were crying in the first place, and how quick society would be to delegitimize men's issues because they don't give a shit about men.

If a man who suffers from loneliness and depression cries about it, calling him a faggot won't make him better or worse, unless you further isolate and reject him because he cried. Either way, how you react to the outburst of emotion from that man will not change the conditions that led to his loneliness or depression either.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You used a lot more words to say what I meant. 'They' being women. They discard men that display emotion after demanding they do so.

Just remember Norah Vincent, who thought living as a man for a year would be SO FUCKING AWESOME and she'd get to report what's it's like to have ALL THAT PRIVILE...

...oh wait, she slashed her wrists open a few months in and checked herself into the funny farm....

Depends on your personality and how serious your problems are. If you only had a bad, you are probably right for most men. But if you're dealing with bigger problems like alcoholism or being suicidal, you should better seek outside help and do a therapy, even as man.

Men don't want to sit on a couch and talk about feelings.

Well, I've done it once or twice. It was uh, ok? That said, it was far more therapeutic to blow things up, honestly.

[–]CornyHoosier 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Agreed. Talking doesn't do nearly as much to relieve my stress as fucking or going out and shooting guns. Only when shit really hits the fan do I resort to drastic measures*.

(*Buy a bottle of whiskey and going out into the woods for the weekend to yell myself hoarse.)

Agreed. Anecdotally, I've been in therapy at different times in my life and found it immensely helpful in developing a deeper understanding of my emotions.

I've cried more listening to Eddie Vedder sing or watching the last 20 minutes of Meet Joe Black than I have thinking about my feelings. No one ever taught me that crying was bad I just do it if I feel like it.

It assumes the feminine "verbal therapy" is the only way to work through problems

That's not what female verbal therapy is for. It's to tell her she's a good person and a strong independent woman cry cry cry while making the demand that some man go out and fix this shit for her.

  • "Math is hard!" - preferential hiring.
  • "God damn it, chin ups are tough to do!" - abrogation of standards to get the good jobs
  • "I don't want to work!" - alimony, child support.

The latest abrogation of the division of labor is this "emotional labor" horse shit. "I think about work instead of sleeping, that's the same thing as actually working! That counts!"

[–]goodfoobar 28 points29 points30 points 10 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Men don't generally process emotions the same way that women do. This can lead to some thinking that men don't express emotions because they don't know how to recognize when males are expressing emotions.

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points13 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That would suggest that men and women are different. Which they aren't. Until there's the suggestion that some people are nothing but rapist criminals who need to be constantly policed, then we're different.

Or there's something dangerous or expensive that needs doing. Then we're different.

[–]Gnometard 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No way bro, that goes against the blank slate

[–]TracyMorganFreeman 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They tend to engage in activities to process those emotions, but those activities aren't always group activities.

Sometimes you just want to read a book, or go fishing, or whatever.

[–]Cgn38 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well the whole I am emotional and can't do (X) right now is off limits to men from day one. Women get a pussy pass on day one and use it their whole lives. I have seen it everywhere including in a combat zone. Women are baggage.

We are worker units to society and women. The older you get the more apparent it gets. Fuck it's not like they hide it.

Are there any non-feminist centric (i.e. enraging) reading material (books) that cover this topic?

This comes to mind: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Men_Are_from_Mars%2C_Women_Are_from_Venus

But I'm not sure how relevant it is.

[–]tallwheel 22 points23 points24 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ah, so you want us to cry more just so you can harvest our tears. I'm on to you, feminists!

[–]TracyMorganFreeman 8 points9 points10 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You'd think if men didn't express their emotions there wouldn't be enough tears to drink.

[–]specterofthepast 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You have way too much respect for feminist's intelligence. I was talking to a feminist on twitter who claimed she had never met the "man hating feminist" people talk about. But, then went on to say MaleTears was just "irony" and that I should get the joke. She couldn't explain why it was ironic. She claimed over and over it had nothing to do with mocking men's emotions... somehow.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Mention any of a number of "ironic" jokes that "aren't funny" because feminism blah blah clitorises hacked off in the Sudan etc etc thousands of years of oppression etc etc

[–]hermes369 9 points10 points11 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So much that's out there is designed to estrange us, seems to me. We're better consumers feeding the established capitalist, that way. I can't think of a better economic system but it's damned dysfunctional/pendulum-swung and caught on a latch like a hatchet on a pivot; don't let it swing and slice as it heads towards the other side and hits a rubber bumper. Suffer a job loss or illness that negatively affects your lifestyle? Your STBX is only a Mira Kirshenbaum, Elizabeth Gilbert, Cheryl Strayed away from sending you to your parents' house. Trading up is, "empowering," when women do it.

Anyway. I know plenty of interesting and smart women. They're mostly married, gay, or both. Bully for them. The rest are about one psl short of a metformin prescription.

I just had to unload for a sec. Carry on.

Amazing that they are almost all fat/ugly. It's incredible how closely being a feminist and an undesirable person seem to go hand in hand.

[–]BruceJohnJennerLawso 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Really cant agree with this. Of the feminists that act like this, they're almost always physically attractive. They almost always trail a huge group of dumb guys who go along with anything they say, since an attractive douchebag can get away with anything these days.

[–]jaheiner 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm not saying there are not attractive feminists. I'm saying the majority of the "feminists" that you see who are really outspoken and obnoxious about it who I see are usually fat/ugly chicks that can't find anyone willing to bang them who they don't find gross. Obviously their being disgusting is not the cause of their issues, it's Patriarchy.

[–]ThePigmanAgain 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The whole idea that it is the patriarchal aspect that teaches men to not express their emotions is rubbish. The less patriarchal a country is the more emotionally repressed their men are. Compare the stiff upper lip of Anglo cultures to the much more emotional reactions you get from men in the Arab patriarchies. Just watch the emotional reactions when disaster strikes the Arab world, it's crying and screaming men all over the place.

[–]azazelcrowley 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Look at greek, german, romam etc epics and stuff where the men are utlra manly and have epic emotional breakdowns and shit. Feminists are utterly deranged and unhinged from reality when they say this shit, because they aren't willing to accept that it's a lot of women gender policing men that causes this problem.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I need a mug that says "Hot Bitch Tears."

So tired of this conversation. It has nothing to do with "not allowed". I don't lead my motivations by my emotions, in fact I find my emotions will betray my efforts about as much as they help. Even those I bother to validate I don't have this burning need to analyze every feeling I experience from all angles like I just found an archaeological relic. Yes it sucks scruffy went down under my front left tire on my way to work but I cant bring scruffy back and I can't buy a flying car to prevent it from happening again...moving on. It has nothing to do with suppression or "not allowed"

I don't want to cry. I don't want to watch anybody else cry. I feel awkward and find it cringeworthy to watch people cry over stupid shit.

As far as I'm concerned the solution here is to teach people in general to suck it up and keep their wailing face shut. When did it become the "right" thing to do to sit around and blubber ?

When your grandpa dies, you can cry. When you failed an exam or didn't get a promotion it's time to shut up and work harder. Fucking pansies. Yeah, I'm insensitive. I don't care.

When women took over. Instead of going out and fixing things, now it's sit there and cry until someone else fixes it for you.

[–]gsettle 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Insensitive, maybe. But you definitely have a point. Try dealing with failure in a positive way and not by wallowing in the victim mentality.

[–]mwobuddy 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Feminism said it should be okay to do this. Now we have man children and women are disgusted by them and wont fuck them.

We have all figuratively been fucked by the lies of feminism, because they haven't been fighting against sexism. They've been fighting to have feminist behavior accepted, and pushed it into the male sphere, where it is most damaging because women still want "men to be men".

This has failed entire generations of men who don't understand why society hates them and their crying, depressed attitude to life.

It takes a village to raise a child, and feminism has raised them to be self destructive and fail at life.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

How is the patriarchy at fault for this?

[–]Benjamminmiller 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

If you ever see a feminist talk about how "the patriarchy teaches men not to cry or talk about their feelings", show them this

I'm not saying the patriarchy is at fault, I'm saying that using this picture in response to that argument is fucking stupid. A photo of a bunch of women on the Internet is not representative of a random feminist. Hypocrisy of members of a group is not a counterpoint to the aforementioned opinion.

[–]BruceJohnJennerLawso 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Thats fair. I agree.

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points0 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Men who act emotional and girly are completely uninteresting to women. Despite the cultural brainwashing, women are actually attracted to manly men. So men who are raised by mom have poor results in dating and relationships. The last few serial killers all expressed sexual frustration and anger at not being able to attract women. Totally expected.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

To the downvoters- Check out Emma Watson - publicly she supports heforshe which looks for men to be supplicant to women - in her private life she dates the most alpha masculine captain of the football team types. Another feminist hypocrite.
